  • Shit this happen to me 2 hella mad & sad !! Gosh my mw3 is in there to

  • FUCK THIS MOTHER FUCKING THING! FUCK MAN! THIS SUCKS SO FUCKING BAD! I JUST GOT SKYRIM AND I CANT PLAY IT! I CANNOT BUY ANOTHER PS3 FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS! FUCK THIS MOTHER FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!!

  • @Kingdomfire551 I feel your pain man.

  • i have a weird yellow light of death because my ps3 isnt dead it turns on after a few trys and works like a DREAM weird...

  • @peteypavello The Yellow Light is actually the PS3's defualt way of saying something's wrong. Luckily, whatever problem you had wasn't the "of death"

  • I've never had a YLOD or RROD. And I play on my PS3 & 360 continually. sometimes, if I have enough free time I play for 12 hours off the bat on the PS3. I'm mostly on my PC but I go on my PC for things like GT5, Demon's Souls etc. And I have had my PS3 since 07.

  • this guy is a weirdo

  • @FiGGyPSN Nah, he's just sexy as hell.

  • yo where the fuks this guide this dude is taliking about???

    I NEED THAT GUIDE!!!

  • @1i1hawk1i1 It's here on youtube under the name "ps3 ylod fix part1 gilksy "

  • you talk weird.....

  • like this so people see it

    - HOW TO GET THE GAME OUT.

turn it off from the back, put your finger down on the eject button, dont let go, click the switch on the back, ON and if done correctly your fan will get really loud and pushy but POOF your game comes out.

please turn off system after this,

  • @jdPWNS1 Note* This does NOT work on launch model PS3s. It wasn't implemented until right before the non-backward compatible models came out,

  • Comment removed

  • cool

  • Followed gilksy1's video precisely twice (inc. flux) dusted it and still have the YLOD. Really gutted it doesn't work mainly because I have a load of PS1 & 2 saves from 14 years of PS play on the HDD. Doesn't seem like there's any way to get them back now. I also have a DVD stuck in there and I don't want to send it to Sony to release it until I get my old data back. Missing out on the 'Welcome Back' freebies adds insult to injury a bit too.

How are you going to use your PS2 data now your slim?

  • @EnerieEffex Sorry to hear about the fix not even working temporarily. That sucks. As for my PS2 data, I bought the PS2 USB memory card reader accessory for PS3. Now I just store the saves on my PS3 and when I want em, I just transfer the em to my PS2 memory card and play on the PS2.

  • You have to be a total arse to think that a hot air gun will cure dry joints.......it will cause thermal damage to the components!

  • Just a quick point - if you buy used from a reputable retailer, you get a warranty :)

  • @TheSmeep Oh totally. By the warranty was up in my case.

  • DO NOT USE AKA THAT SHIT IS TERRIBLE USE ARTIC SLIVER 5 MY RESUTLS WAS 1 YEAR TRY IT

  • @MultiStar0915 I did use arctic silver as well, I'm glad it worked better for you than me.

  • Dude is it possible like same shit happend to my ps3 like it did to urs so i went out bot a new one and i need all my downloaded games from online to ps3 and saved on hdd to be on the new ps3's hdd but i thot of just putting the old hdd into the new ps3 but it earased and formated the whole bloddy thing... so my question is that are those games that i downloaded on my ps3's playstaion account or they were on the hdd

  • @HilmarLive Anything you got on that PSN account is linked to that PSN account. To redownload your games, go into the PSN store, and click the "past transactions" icon (next to the shopping cart) in the top right of the screen. From there, just select your games and redownload.

  • Thanks For the adivice man

  • mine only works for a day im just going to get a sim but how do you transfer your game data to thenew playstation

  • @dogcare545 You need a USB drive or thumb drive of some sort, then go into the saved game manager and copy your saves to the USB drive. Then using the new PS3's save manager copy them from the USB drive to the new PS3

  • Very frustrating that you buy a product for pretty much money, then it's broken not by your fault and they let YOU pay for it. Sony suckers.

  • @RadicalsDreams

I got bad luck to. I got THE first ps3 in Holland. So a few weeks ago i had the problem that my laser was broken.. hmmzz bad luck but i was waiting for it haha.

Now i got it like one week back, a fully new ps3 for €150,-..

Fat off course because slim ps3 isn't that beautiful.

Now i got the YLOD :|

So i'm gonne call sony again, what should i do?

Ask for the fat one or just ask for a slim? Because i have the choice.

  • @breakerh123 Get a fat if you can get one that has backwards compatability. Get a slim if you can not

  • @RadicalsDreams

ok thanks, i will get a fat one with backward compatability back.

Hope i don't get the YLOD now within a few days, (i hope not at all haha)

  • It happened to me last Friday and I had nf speed hit pursuit in it till I tride. To turn it off from

Back put my finger in eject button turn it on wile pressing eject button and it gave me my game back and it died when the fan turned off

  • Could you EXPLAIN why its a Temporary fix?

  • @nostilja Because by reflowing, you end up evaporating the flux inside the solders. Without the flux, the solders become even more brittle, making the solders break again in the simi near future.

  • yelllow is the worst colour on earth

  • Would ove to fix it myself but seriously not going to do it besides I flashed mine yesterday with Wanikoko's CFW and that fragged it so guess I'm looking at a paperweight or get it repaired for £70

  • very nice video. i'm from germany but your articulation is very clear and easy to understand. I've got this problem, too. The game GT5 is in my PS3, so i'll do the same like you and might get a new one, too. this is definitely a heavy plus for the xbox...i was a sony boy (ps1,ps2,ps3) but the ps3 is in my opinion a flop. it's great but no game developer can reach the maximum power of the system

  • @AssiAlex With the exception of the 360 slims, the 360 still has a much high fail rate than the PS3. But I think GT5, Uncharted 2, and a few other games really do use the PS3 to its max.

  • @RadicalsDreams black ops?

  • @RadicalsDreams

Hey man. Got any recommendations for good starting PS3 games?

Might get one from a contest. Got any ideas for a 14 year old with maturity restrictions (I'm an RPG fan)

  • hi i got a yellow lod and i was like !"£%&*( becaus i had black ops n it was in the ps3 !"%$^

so i let it rest went on utube then i cheked uit n it worked!"£%$%&*(0 but im not gonna play it till 2 days XD

  • @modadaner if that were true u could easily fix the ylod by simply blowin on the vents for a while...too bad your wrong it wouldve been much easier to fix had u been right

  • @modadaner if that were true u could easily fix the ylod by simply blowin on the vents for a while...too bad your wrong it wouldve been much easier to fix had u been right

  • when your game gets stuck in the system when u get the ylod all u have to do is turn the system off disconnect everything reconnect everything turn on and imediately press the eject button the dic will come out just like any other time u ejected a disc

  • @RADDxSTEEZY Good thing to bring up. However, if you have one of the first PS3s (one of the first with backwards compatibility), this will not work. This feature wasn't added until the second run of PS3s. Poor Uncharted 2 was trapped in my PS3 till I re-flowed it.

  • @RadicalsDreams oh i had the old 40gb that wasnt backwards compatible im getting a 160gb slim soon my old 40 gb died acouple months ago

  • gamestop are assholes i shouldnt have got mine used....

  • @MIKEHUNT7531 I tend to agree with that statement. Sorry a yellow light got ya man.

  • @RadicalsDreams thanks

  • I guess it was a good thing that I bought a PS3 Slim.

  • @ThatEpicAsian Much much lower fail fate in slims.

  • @modadaner You sir are quite incorrect. The flashing yellow light signifies that there so some sort of internal connection error inside the PS3. Overheating or an incorrectly connected hard drive can, on rare occasions, cause the error in addition to a disconnected GPU/CPU (the problem I had). Dust is completely irrelevant to the yellow light problem. Please spread your ignorance and disinformation somewhere else.

  • @RadicalsDreams dont try to be someone your not dude....just be yourself....you have to go way out of your way to talk and act like that.....it is obviously not normal

  • great vid! ... im attempting to fix now

  • when i send it to sony can I keep my hard drive?

  • @iNewEraa I'm sorry, I don't know for sure. I know they usually just send you out a new model with a new hard drive, but they may back up your data before they do. Contact Sony and ask I guess?

  • Mw2 stuck ... Inside let's hope it had a black ops baby and well invincibility after I have help with this problem and you are the best formal speaker ever you must have had a white board or something with you commentary ready ... On the other hand you my hero plus yeah mine was used I had the plastic cock block of amazing american pile of crap ... Ok over compensate but hey free live right stick that in you're Xbox

  • very informative, thanks alot, mine just died an hour ago

  • i got mw2 stuck :(

  • @VegasGamer102 If you send it into Sony, be sure to tell them that and they will get the game out for you.

  • @VegasGamer102 and if not do the fan test it should eject automatically :D you turnoff the rear power hold the eject button then turn on the rear power and it should eject

  • @VegasGamer102

    exacely same;(

  • if i send my ps3 off and get yellow light fixed (i turn on and it shuts down streight away)

    will it break again ever

  • @georgewm1 If you send it in to Sony, they send you a different, refurbished system. Will it ever break again? Well it could, but the chances are much lower.

  • Had my ps3 for 3 years so obviously the warranty has run out and the YLOD hit my ps3, I am screwed?!

  • @Gooner1655

Yep, pretty much. If no matter what you do, whenever you turn it on you have this problem, you PS3 is dead. Send it into sony for $150 or buy a new one. Or try this but I don't really recommend it.

  • you're a complete geek, but you totally have a point.

  • omg this just happened to me yesterday

  • umm that's a weird looking uncharted to case you got there

  • @Ownography

I live in the magical world known only as "Japan." They thought that box would make Uncharted 2 sell. They were wrong.

  • i came from school turn my ps3 on and i got the yelllow light, i turn it off i unplug it. I tried again and works, what should i do?? what is the problem?

  • @hakusho04

The yellow light simply means that there's some sort or error in the machine preventing it from running properly. Often, you get the yellow light due to the connections between the GPU, CPU and motherboard being broken. We call this the "yellow light of death." Clearly, this did not happen to you. You just had a random error. I wouldn't worry about it.

  • very informative dude

  • This just happened to me last week, and like you, I don't want to get the new slim because there is no Backwards Compatibility. For some reason, Sony thinks that only 10% of their buyers like this feature.

  • @Arkbennett

Back when the PS3 was selling poorly, they removed the backward compatibility chip because it was so expensive. Now they figure you're not buying a ps3 for ps2 games, but for ps3 games only.

And don't get me wrong, I didn't want to get a slim, but since the fix is temporary, I decided to bite the bullet and deal.

  • @RadicalsDreams Unfortunately, I did the same yesterday. I purchased the new slim, but I am upset about the heap of PS1 and PS2 games I have that I can't play at the moment. I knew they removed the emotion engine, and then the PS2 Graphics chip, to cut costs. I feel your pain.

  • @Arkbennett

Oh, I may have good new for you then. Your PS1 games should all still work. It's only PS2 games that are not backwards compatible.

  • Wow that was usefull. I was planning on buying a used version. I will throw in the extra 50 to 100 euro's (depending per case) to just but a new one.

    Thanks for this.

  • @WEDhicks

I will never buy a used 360 or PS3 because I fear this.

  • @RadicalsDreams

I bought a "used" 360 a year ago and it still works perfectly. Now I have to say that the previous user bought it to use it next to his ps3. But he never unboxed it and decided to sell it after 8 months. Strange? Yes... but I didn't care :)

  • @WEDhicks

    Nice buy. I'm envious.

  • wow over 1000 dollars of system, games lost. plus time that u played

  • it doesn't take 3 hours to perform the gilsky fix. it takes about 45 minutes. i don't know what made you so slow.

  • This will be great to deactivate my account so I can use my new one.

  • @KippFV

That's one of the things I did. For my saves and that, it was well worth the price.

  • i fucking have it. i all ready knew i had it but.............fucking hell my mw2 is in it i dont like the game but i could sell it so i could pay to fix the ps3

  • how long did your fix last?

  • @Jangaboo

The first time? About 2 days. The second time, I don't know. I went out and bought a new PS3 instead

  • Great video, great advice. I'm getting a slim this Christmas :D

I was really concerned about the YLOD, and was about to give up my dreams of playing Uncharted and GT5 when my friend linked me to this video. I'm back in the market.

  • The PS3 slim has the YLOD too.

    (not my PS3 slim)

  • i should stop playing too much MGO thank god i didnt get this it looks more complicated than xbox360 fix

  • Comment removed

  • I have heard that reballing process with a lead is the sure way to get the PS3 live for long period of time.

  • @owhsht310

Not lead exactly. You use lead based flux. This is what will make the solders flexible when they get hot instead of brittle. There's some used when the original solders are done, but each time you bake the board, you evaporate a lot of the remaining flux.

  • What I did was re-flow once on both sides, allowing to cool in between... then re-flowed again... not sure if that did make a difference, but over a year later, trouble free gaming...

Done the same fix on my friends console, it's been 5months, again... trouble free gaming.

My theory behind it is, one reflow reconnects barely... reflow once to get the connection to touch, allow to cool so you don't cook the board, then reflow again to secure the connection...

  • @leo140485

Haha. Well if you want to get right down to it. Mine still works too. Thing is, I am constantly worried it will break again so I never use it.

The problem with reflowing twice is that unless you reflux it each time, the sodders become more and more brittle.

Don't get me wrong. It's awesome that your reflow has lasted so long. But I fear you are the exception and not the rule.

  • For a moment there i thought you were straped into that chair! you look like your about to go for the ride of your life ;-)

    Thumbs up from me.

  • Well it's a little too late for that now. Yes, I could have contacted Sony but I am in México which for some reason they have there own branch and refuse to check my ps3, and contacting Sony America would cost a fortune let alone shipping and stuff more than it's worth I had no option than start over. Still i am sad but that means I can replay my untouched games. So thanks for your help and hope to see more vids.

  • Well ive been doing that since yesterday with no luck. It always says that the email and or password are imccorect. I did change the email and password some time ago but is still says that. But when i use both emails to check my inbox they work fine, only when trying to use my psn account they stop working. So is there anything you recomend?

Also ive been living in México gor the last 4 years

    Please and thank

  • @supersomeguy12

I know you've probably already done this, but contact sony. I've heard of a problems like this before, but nothing on fixing them. I believe sony its your only hope now. Good luck.

  • Yes i have another question

I accedently put the option to restore default settings in my profile after it was finished it turned off and back on again and when i wanted to sing in I no longer could i have tried everything and nothing works all i really want is my saved data because when i copy it to another proflie it tells me to delete it becuase it's not mine and what happends to my online ID is there no way to get that back at least PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @supersomeguy12

Games and savedata are not linked to your login name. They are actually linked to your PSN account store name. So make sure you're using the same email address and account you used in saved those games. Basically, you just go over to the sign into PSN icon, and it'll ask if you want to make an account or use and existing one. Choose use and existing one and put in all your old info. Then your saves will work.

  • @ RadicalsDreams Yes, I have a question? If my 40gb ps3's fan is louder than usual should I start getting worried or is this simply overheat? the good thing is I always turn it off let it cool down for the rest of the day and it works fine. But I must know if this is BIG or minor problem because this happen 2 days in a row!!! Hope 4 a reply soon PLEASE and THANK YOU!!!

  • @supersomeguy12

Hmmm. While with mine, the high fan was a big sign that something was wrong. However, it worked fine for months after that started. Some people I know have had the loud fan for ages and never got a yellow light. Frankly though, if your PS3 is gonna yellow light, there's nothing you can do to stop it. It just a matter of time. So I say play normally and have fun with it while you can.

  • hahaha u got jack with 3 yrs warranty n u think u smart kakaka ,,i work at best buy i alwasy make them buy more n more years warr,,i always laugh at those dumb ass that buyign ti,,cuz that what best buy want employee make costumer buy it free money kaka,,bs dude open the damn blue ray n get ur game out if the ps3 not running, but carefull dont ever touch the black n red wire its very thin ....

  • @SupaFlyBoyZz699

Well, if I woulda got the "scam" warranty the first time, I wouldn't have needed to buy a second PS3. That said, the warranty this time was free, so it's not like I lost anything or paid a dime more. It's all about where you shop.

  • @RadicalsDreams yeah u right sometime the longer the warranty the better its come in handy though, but very lil people come back for fixing it,n the company is like onwed 9-1 of that extended warr money,we @bestbuy every month have an award 4who ever salemost extend warr$,beside its so bs ps3 alone have 1 year standard warr, buying extend warr take that standard away ,its a trap, dont be fool by good costumer service they r like vampier sucking every bit of ur blood...

  • Is your online stuff saved to your acount or your ps3?

  • @ronaldhino1122

Anything you bought online is recorded on your PSN account and you can redownload it any time on any system (up to 5).

  • find it funny how ps3 fanboys say PS3 DOESNT BREAK DOWN LIKE AN XBOX. But the truth is ps3 has the exact same problem.

  • @joesjoes20 Yes that is true, but it only took my Xbox a year to get the red rings where as it took my PS3 3 years to get the YLOD.

  • Do you also think that ps3 slim is a good buy? Was there any incident where slim had a failure like this? I really hope that it's as durable as ps2.... god I loved my 10yr old ps2.

  • Honestly, I have never heard of a slim failing like this. You might want to google it and check though. I wish a PS3 would last as long as a PS2 but with so much more going on inside, I'm not suprised the fail rate is so much higher.

  • Hi! Thanks for this valuable review. My rare 60gig just had YLOD 2 nights ago. I almost did this fix myself but I ended up buying a new one. My question is... How do you exactly retrieve your save data manually as you described? I really need this answered!! thank you!

  • Sadly, the only way I know to get your saved data is to preform this fix and copy the save files to a USB drive. You can't just remove the drive and hook it up to another PS3 or a computer. I don't know why, but each HD will only work with one PS3.

  • @RadicalsDreams Okay, so I must do this fix. When ps3 is revived, I just need to hook up a FAT32 formatted external harddrive and perform 'backup utility', yes? Also, how crucial is it to not have that silver based thermal glue. All I got at the moment is the good hair dryer...

  • Yep, FAT32 and backup utility. Although, when I did that, my PS2 saves didn't transfer and I had to copy those one by one.

Any thermal goo (that you put on computer processors) will do. I just used artic ice because I knew the name brand.

A hair dryer will not work, it doesn't get hot enough. Heat guns are usually pretty cheep at hobby and craft stores. Mine was $20. I've heard of some people going to the store, buying one, using one and then returning it the same day.

  • @RadicalsDreams What if my game is stuck inside the ps3 and i send it to sony. Will sony take it out and send it back to me?

  • @alextr11

Make sure when you send it in, you tape on the side of it a note saying there's a game in the drive and what it is. Even though you probably won't get the same PS3 back (you'll get a refubished one) they'll be sure to send you your game along with it.

  • And thinking I paid some peasants to fix mine for £70... It's a shame... what would you recommend, pay Sony or attempt fixing it? I'm not that great at fixing products though... and don't really have the time to either!

  • Pay sony. Without a doubt. However, they don't usually fix your PS3, they send you a refurbished model as a replacement.

  • Would a refurbished model from gamestop with a year warranty on it be a wise buy?

  • Yes, a refurbished model with a warranty is just as good as new.

  • @KERRRISSS as he said, don't buy used, as i did, i traded my 5 time broken ps3 and someone will get it, and will deal with the problem, so get a new ps3, get slim!

  • Comment removed

  • when u say overheat, about how long would that take? because i have my ps3 on for long periods of time and it never overheated on me

  • It took two years of constant play for me to get the yellow light. For some people, it will never happen. But for unlucky 10% of us, there's not much we can do.

  • once i turned it off during a PS3 SF4 online fight i turned it off it did that then i unplugged it when i restarted it worked fine

  • The yellow light is a actually the warning sign for several errors, not just overheating death (that's just the worst one).

  • @RadicalsDreams what about my error i did

  • If you mean it turned off by itself, then yes, you had the yellow light of death. It's usually a sign that the end is near.

  • no i turned it off then it was beeping i unplugged the chord when i restarted the system it started working and this happen in like what 09 and it has survived

  • Awesome. Glad to hear it was just a wierd glitch and not a sign that the end was near. As for what caused it... it coulda been a billion different things.

  • Comment removed

  • Buy a PC and you will never look back to consoles again. I promise!

  • Haha! I have a PC. Sadly, it does not play the PS3 exclusives I want to play.

  • well shit

    talk about coincidence

last week my PS3 got the YLoD with my copy of Uncharted 2 still inside as well

    LOL

wait...what the hell am I laughing about?...

    T____T

  • dang, I thought the 360 was the only system that was having this problem, it's practically the same problem that I had with my 360. That's a shame that happened, with the model you had being able to play the older PS games, that sucks they didn't leave that in with the newer models

  • how do u transfer old files from a broken 60g 2 the slim machine

  • simple answer, you don't. If your PS3 is broken, there's no way to transfer the files. That's why I had to fix my PS3: just to transfer off all my files.

  • What I do to fix my ps3 is pee on it. The natural toxins in human urine work like nano robots, the urine cells get into the cracks of the ps3 and fix up even the tiniest of problems. I do the same thing to my car engine, really, any technology from NASA computers to toasters can be fixed with about a quart of human urine.

  • Best comment of all-time

  • Epic lulz.

  • @stanburdman

AHHAHAHA seriiosly that cracks me up even though its true

  • @stanburdman yes while that givs the appearance of repairs the effects of peeing can hav long lasting damages like texts that sound like a bear, pink coloured toast and PTSD PS3s. A friend of mine has a better solution wrap it up in a towel and put it in a hotpress for a week and you'll see fantastic results, infact wrapping just about anything up in a towel can repair it broken arms, rocky relationships or ur homework...

  • @stanburdman lmao no lie if that really works id try it hahaaaa

  • The fix is similar to the towel trick on the 360 and the fix for many graphics cards which also overheat.

I recently repaired my 8800GTX with a fix but, instead of using a heatgun, I opted for baking it in my oven at roughly 400°F for 10 minutes.

  • Well, at least you've got your PS3 situation taken care of in time for 13's release.

  • I've never had a problem with my original, bought it the first day it came out, PS3.

I think it might be because it's out in the open so that it gathers almost no dust and it never gets heated (I never hear it's fan intensely whirring).

Neat fix. Hope I'll never have to use it, but it's great to have it just in case.
