Had it for over a year now. It doesn't keep me awake and I don't notice it unless it's quiet but I loathe it all the same and, yes, iPods/MP3s are great!
My ENT said it could go as fast as it came..but, I'm not to confident it's going away...so, I look forward to the time where it' more tolerable...tnanks
Your ENT is correct, it could just disappear one day; but you are right it is unlikely.
the best thing to do, is accept that it's there to stay, stop beating yourself up for how it happened (in my case abuse of my mp3player.) And try to co-exist.
Eventually you will habituate, and your brain will stop recognizing it, that could happen in a year, 10 years, or more.
mine is reletively severe, but i require no medication to sleep at night, 90 percent of the time. so it will get better!
please we need a cure sometimes i feel this is nightmare.

You'll get used to it, i'm approaching 2 years, in march. the first 6-12 months is the hardest, the second year is much much easier..

@Feyhart...not for everyone. I'm going on 3 years and it isn't one bit better.

That's the gut wrenching truth if I've ever seen it. I HATE Tinnitus
