OMG I MISS DOWN HOME! My Dad was born there (about 10 miles from the Mira) and he sent me home with my Nannie for the summers so that he could work. My husband joined the Navy and we're moving to Halifax in August 2010!  I CAN'T WAIT!

my friend andrew is allister mcgillivrays step brother (just found out today), and today he was telling me about this song, andrew is living in ireland with all us losers now and talking about the weekend and what we all had planned jokingly he said "here today gone to mira" seemingly it was a saying in glacier bay where andrew is from, about an hour from the mira and the park. he gave a description that made me want to move to canada, but the violence of hockey also is a strong pull.

My god, I haven't heard that line for years! I too am Glace Bay expat but stuck on the frozen prairie dreaming of music and land and sea. Allister is a gift to us all.

Parts of Mira were an hour from Glace bay when i was young but how the world has shrunk. 20 minutes from glace bay to Mira Gut 30, maybe, to Marion bridge -- which reminds me of an toast your friend Andrew may recall: Up the Mira, Down to Gut.

Great rendition - I'd like to hear more. I miss the Mira too. But there is another song that says you can't go home again, as it will never be what you remembered. I drove by the Mira a few years ago and it is even more beautiful than I remembered.
