The game is actually quite good these days, as long as you get on a populated server.

I got SWG about a few months before the CU, i dont know why alot of people said it sucked it was actualy like more realistic cause like u could wear any armor it just wouldnt be as effective if u werent the recommended level, i loved the CU the NGE not so much, just cause it reduced the 32 or so professions down to 9 and i was pissed wen they added the jedi starter class cause anyone who was or was trying to be a jedi in the CU is angry it took us forever!!!!

Dancing was one of its strongest points, and tbh its the only thing that isn't totally broken in the game now. Not enough people playing anymore to get them together for Cantina Crawls :(
Every time I see a past SWG video I get depressed. By far one of the best games I've ever played. Probably would still be playing it if they hadn't screwed it up.
i loved this game even through NGE (though barely) and now they released some Equal skills patch that nerfed all classes and released a "Chapter" patch which turned the game into a copy of WoW, which is when i decided to stop playing a futuristic WoW copycat but to play WoW itself
Actually its quite the contrary, WoW took alot of ideas from Galaxies, but when galaxies brings those ideas back in some form (FRS Ranking -> GCW Ranking) alot of people just assume that WoW thought of it first. Also things like profession expertise is in some ways like the old skill system, but is also alot like the KotOR I and II skill system, which is another LucasArts game. In the end, I would much rather play swg than a little magical fairy elf game :)
.... okay I play wow and I knew a beta tester who worked on SWG... the graphics (if this is a good example) are comparable to second life... as for things like professions KotOR got that from something called Dungeons and Dragons who put out the D20 system... Professions have been in that game since the 80's... but it is an amuseing video and I must give credit that SWG appears to have more dance moves than WOW could dream of :D
Love it, SWG is one of the best mmorpg's ever made. Why? because it was different! loved every minute of it. I would love to meet my old friends Quasi and Rimkar again. Was on the Ahazi server and they all suddenly left, would have liked to keep in touch? :(
Haha, loved it... I'm not the sort who quits a game for the sake of an update, on top of everything there's still a semi-decent community knocking about, although I will admit that it used to be better, I only managed a few months before the update, so...
*sniff* god i miss that game. It was the greatest online game i've ever played and i doubt i'll play a better one. Thst Combat Upgrade seriously put me off but i left just before the NGE. I was called iwookehia and was on the Tarquinas galaxy... Good times. Depresses me to see that its become a boring and empty online world..
CU was a publish that kind of messed with the game changing combat chat targetting and such but NGE was the thing that screwed the whole thing up I had over 150 mails about my friends leaving the game.
