they said she used to sing white because she was singing clearly and with dignity. she used to enunciate and make the song sound important. im 23 but i remember some of the late 80s. she didnt do that over-soulful thing. id have to give an example, i cant explain it online. anyway, 1987, that album was very pop which made it white. shes always had to fight that. fortunately, she knows when to give it professional girl, around the way girl, glamour girl, etc.

It is said or rumored that Clive Davis made her remixed her voice to provide her with that cross over appeal. Bc as you know she grew up singing in the church so Im quite sure she probably had alot of Auntie Ree Ree tones to her voice.lol I also remember a special where dis guy was like the original recording of Saving All My Love For You was very soulful, when Clive heard it, he didnt like it, he made her re-record it. Also, he hated her look on her first album cover.
