Brothers of Islam..We Are One..i somehow agree with 207....from my knowledge, the imams are very learned scholars..they memorize thousand of hadiths..we can only manage to read thousand but to memorize thousand of hadiths takes really great effort n great ppl to do tat..even the Quran have different Rasm Mushaf but still bein accepted..diff part of e world, diff tongue, diff capability...so Insyaallah there is hikmah behind all these..Insyaallah all our deeds are accepted by Allah..its alrite to d
my dear brotgerm as-salaamu alaikum. i have read in maqasid that the index finger stays pointed down the whole time except for testification, is imam nawawi's opinion weak in our school, with regards to this issue?
@MrFaarah08 Yes it is right, and you will find in each school (the Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali, Hanafi) slight differences, Insha'a Allah all is right.
And as mentioned about the Prophet PBUH, he used to do things sometimes in different ways, to show that all such is permissible, like for example at times he prayed his hands on his chest, at other times on his abdomen, at other times on his navel. Right on left sometimes holding on wrist, sometimes holding halfway on the forearm...
Now the Haadiths (Sahih) the Sheikh mentioned indicated 'Making a Ring with the thumb and the middle finger', although the Sheikh didnt say anything about the Shafi'i position regarding that. So my question is 'making a ring with the thumb and the middle finger' is valid according the shafi's school? or shall I just follow what's been shown in the vedio.
I will appreciate if a knowledgeable brother or sister who follows the shafi's school can help me in this. thank you.
i follow it the same as you do...i was taught to make a ring with the middle finger and thumb, and only raise the index finger during "ashadua la ilaha il Allahu"...and then lower the index finger....let me know if there is another way...salam
But I am a little confused about The index finger position during Tashahud. Even in the book mentined above, it is prescribed to do exactly d the same in the vedio, but in the same book there is in the chapter explaining the how different mujtahid scholar derived rulings based on their own methodology of Haadith ratings, Sheikh gave the example of the 'moving of the index finger'.
Salaam Alaikum, I dont want to cause any confusion for I dont consider myself to be knowledgeable. I am trying to do all my acts of worship according to the Shafi's school and for the I am following Imam Nawawi's 'Al- Maqasid' translated by Sheikh Nuh Ha Mim Keller.
I am Shafi'i but i don't do tashahud like this, i have both hands flat like the left hand then i simply raise my finger up and down when we say tashahud.
I was also wondering if Allah also judges us on our school.
Yes, Allah (SWT) does. This is because prayer is suppose to be of one kind. Not many differences in prayers. There is a specific way to pray and it should be prayed like that. Not many different styles. These are not different "schools" these are difference "sects". The sad part is people do not want to admit it so they put a vast majority under a "school". Islam did not have a school of thought in Rasoollallah (SAW) era. This is all bid'ah. Kullu Bida'tin Dalala wa kullu Dalalatin fin naar.
I will not say which one is correct or not. That will ruin going and finding out for yourself. One must do research and come to the conclusion through intellect and reason. Al 'aql dalilul Mo'min. (The intellect is the evidence of a believer.)
There are examples in the hadith literature of the Companions differing on issues. In some cases, even though they arrived at different conclusions Rasulullah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) approved of what each group had done.
Only a group of Companions were actually fuqaha and the others were not censured for seeking fatawa from them.
The differences in the prayer are a result of variant narrations and the Imams' choice of which were strongest.
I have a question to pose to you. How can Muslim bin Hajjaj who was born in the year 206AH/821 CE relate a hadith from a man who DIED 68 AH (687--688)? There is about a 130-140 year separation between them. That means the ahadith had to be transmitted between other peoples hands before getting to Muslim. Also, one must realize Mohammad idris was born in 150 AH/767 AD. How did he know how the Prophet (SAW) read like? Also, if the madhabs follow the sunnah, then why so much differences in prayer?
The most fundamental action in Islam is prayer. aS-Salatu amuddud din. Not everyone can be right. Even in ayatul kursi we see that Allah (SWT) uses noor in singular form and uses zhulumat in plural form. Why? Because there is one right and many wrongs. Man made the different sects that are going to hell. Allah (SWT) made the one true sect. Remember in Surah Nisa verse 79, whatever good I say comes from Allah (SWT) and whatever wrong I say is from myself. Same thing with sects. One true, rest bad
Last thing, I am not trying to deceive you brothers and sisters, but trying to enstill in you thought that will make you see the light. Islam is beautiful, but only true Islam. The rest are fabrications and will be in hell with people who follow them. Kullu bid'atin Dalala wa kullu Dalalatin sabiluha illan naar. (Every innovation(religious) is astray and every astray leads to the fire.) InshaAllah let's go by the true Qur'an and Sunnah and leave these fabrications.
Actually, the misuse of the above mentioned hadith regarding innovation in an innovation in itself. It is referring to innovation in beliefs and not works. Any new matter needs to be judged by the general principles of Islam to know if it will be either wajib, haram, disliked, preferable or merely permissable.
Differences between the scholars are just that - differences, not innovations.
May Allah reward you for your etiquette while expressing your differing view.
they are different ways of following the quran and sunnah by the teaching of rasullulah sallalahu alaihi wasallam. I advice u brothers and sisters to analyse how these differences come about by looking at the supports and evidences given by each of the 4 imams. insha Allah u will see the truth
Of course I am mentioning the hadith collection which contains this narration and the Companion who narrated it without including the chain of transmission.
I am sorry brother luqman you make no sense. Actions speak louder than words. If all Muslims believed in the Oneness of Allah, but started doing different actions they will go to hell because they are not following the true Sunnah of Rasoollallah (SAW). So what we do as Muslims DOES affect our beliefs. Plain and simple. This hadith is mentioning ANY BID'AH in the way of religion, whether it is action or belief.
Yes.. because Allah said that He will not let us enter in paradise if we are not behind mohammad in the yawmul qiyamah.. this means that we should follew the sunnah of Mohammad (saw).. I am a sunnih muslim!!..
following the leader will make us enter paradise insha Allah!!..

asalaamoe 3alaikoem warahamtu allahi wabarkatuh,
people should know, that the madhabs have only differences in fiqh issues.
but never and never in Aqidah.
the Aqidah is the same and one.
wa3alaikoem salaam warahamtu allahi wabaraktuh.

Raising the finger at Tashahhud is testifying the oneness of Allah with one finger when you say it verbally you add it allowed psychical way.
