@gigolo25 An M-4 is not the same as the CAR-15 (Commando). Both are based off of the same gun however, the M-16. The sight is an M68, which is not the ACOG sight. The M68 is a red dot sight. The grip is called a vertical grip.

My main complaint with the M4 family is the normally associated 5.56mm caliber. I have read a few reports about the 416 and SCAR being less than desired by the troops who have used them in the field. Apparently several 75th rangers wanted their M4s back instead of the FN SCAR. Main reason special operators like the 416 is because it wears a sound suppressor well. 416 had some probs going from warm to cold atmospheric conditions & jamming.
Nope, it's an m4 or possibly a c8. See the front-sight post? The HK416 doesen't have that. The stock is usually different on 416 aswell. I should know, I'm issued one.
@ppitm the hk is just similar in the cosmetics n looks but it uses a short stroke gas piston. m4 had a gas tube system. @mert360 the m4 does jam however most jams are minor and can be cleared quickly with SPORTS and its only more likely to jam when u fire full auto clip after clip, in which case it would jam around every two clips. it DOES have an overheating problem but that can be remedied. the m4 while not the best is a very respectable rifle. personally, i love the m4. <3

@blastmastertv This M4 is just a shorter AR 15. Some companies (not Colt) make full size M4's (See Daniel Defense). They are all on par with each other. But to answer your question... short vs long... it depends on what you are using it for. I prefer a 20" barrel vs 14.5, 16.. whatever. But I am not in Iraq and I don't have to go into homes and shoot.
What do you mean by "full size" M4? And the M4 is the short version of the M16. Both of these are of course military designations. Most civilian variants are referred to as AR-15's which you can get in rifle and carbine length clones of military models from many manufacturers. And Colt makes M4's for the military, and models (like the 6920, among others) for the civilian market. The only thing that Daniel Defense offers that Colt does not, is carbines with a mid-length gas system.

Hey which mount is that for the aimpoint? Do you ever have the lens covers fall down and cover the lens while shooting?

cant remember the name of the mount but I have posted it in here before. Never had the cover fall down while shooting, there are a couple of ways to prevent it from happening. You can turn the covers so the open from the top down or slightly sideways.

I'm trying to explore my options for an enhanced optical device for my M4 (.22 Version) but I'm hearing a lot of critical feedback for Aimpoint products. It's cheaper than EOTech but how would you weigh in? I heard that the M68's are especially pieces of crap...?

I like the M4, apart from the direct inpingement system. I prefer the HK416, but i think the sights on the M4 are better.

@blastmastertv remember an M4 is made by the lowest bidder, you can make a AR15 much more accurate then the M4. The whole full auto and 3 round burst is only good for suppressive fire and slinging lead down range, if you want accurate shots you will shot on single-fire..

No, you wont. A modern 5.56mm carbine will have very nice groupings being fired on semi, and its used for far more then suppresive fire. If you want pinpoint accuracy on the range, yes, you shoot single. In the real world its not that simple.
If they're both standard, both will be very alike.

@blastmastertv This M4 is just a shorter AR 15. Some companies (not Colt) make full size M4's (See Daniel Defense). They are all on par with each other. But to answer your question... short vs long... it depends on what you are using it for. I prefer a 20" barrel vs 14.5, 16.. whatever. But I am not in Iraq and I don't have to go into homes and shoot.

What do you mean by "full size" M4? And the M4 is the short version of the M16. Both of these are of course military designations. Most civilian variants are referred to as AR-15's which you can get in rifle and carbine length clones of military models from many manufacturers. And Colt makes M4's for the military, and models (like the 6920, among others) for the civilian market. The only thing that Daniel Defense offers that Colt does not, is carbines with a mid-length gas system.
