Leading rookie scorer now, 16 goals, 34 points, and has been on a point a gem pace since 29 games ago, Parise broke out when he was 22 years old, Duchene is already only 18 and i think will be a better player than parise, similar styles though.
I hope he reaches 30 goals, 14 goals in the next 30 games will be a task but not unearthly for him.

Fulk is he ever fast though, fastest 1,2 step in the NHL hands down, I can say that with assertion, he can be standing flat footed and in a blink of an eye can be leading the rush down the wing/neutral zone like its nobody's business, I'm very suprised he only scored 79 points last year in junior, but than again Stan Butler and the Battalion run a very defensive minded system over there, thats why Hodgson and Grachev are so polished defensively aswell like Duchene, could've scored 100 though.
Maybe i'm wrong, but the way he plays is pretty unbelievable, especially for an 18 year old rookie, he plays like a faster Pavel Datsyuk with a better wrist shot and release. His style is like Paul Kariya, Pavel Datsyuk and I also see a little Sidney Crosby in his twists and turns, it's basically if his hands can ever keep up with his head, that is where all the potential lies in with Duchene, is if his hands can ever keep up with his head.

u dudes are both wrong. the avs have alot of cap space. the cap is goin up again anyway. they have shattenkirk, nigel williams, cumiskey, and colby cohen who are all 22 or younger. they need some young forwards to compliment stastny and wolski. duchen, schroeder, kane, one of those guys is who they will draft
we dont have a ton of cap space, only 3 million. Besides very low chances that the caps goin up since it's based off NHL revenues, and the economy has dragged that down. Shattenkirk is returning to Boston University for his senior year as well isn't he?
I'm an Isles fan and I can tell you here on L.I. they are getting the Duchene hype machine going early to prepare us fans for the unthinkable. Instead of taking Hedman or Tavares they are eyeing up Duchene. And no disrespect to Matt, but the consensus 1 and 2 have always been Hedman Tavares
Remember when I posted this, at the time the order wasn't out there yet. Knowing the order now we all can assume Tavares is going to the Isle, Hedman to TB (truthfully their big need), and from there it's a race up until about the 10th pick. From 3-10 there is really top level talent, with a slight drop on pick 11 or so pending on which scout you trust. The #1/#2 top picks were never in doubt, I just assume the third pick is most likely Duchene & the Avs, TB & Atlanta
were the teams most likely to land that pick. Now that we know it's the Avs and Duchene has actually been ranked as high as #2 on some boards, it's most likely he'll be an Av. Add in the fact that he's a good all around scorers (setup and shot) with amazing speed, one can surely see how he clearly fits a huge need in Colorado. With Pierre Lacroix calling the shots again, look for the life long Av fan to join the fold this June's draft.

I hate to say it, we have about 2 years to wait on Shatts and Cohen due to their desire to finish their 4 years at BU (although winning a championship can change things). Oh and that's not even counting the adaptation to the pro level at any level which may be more time. Also, I'm just not big on Kyle C. He's easily knocked off the puck and simply can't finish. I have more hope for the likes of other people in the organization but you never know and I'd be happy to be wrong.

Obviously they wont get Duchene or Kane because they're going to be drafted early but considering people thought the leafs would draft MSP or Schenn when they had the 9th overall pick then it's pretty obvious they're going to pick them when they're ranked 7th unless they go for Cowen but I doubt they will considering nobody knows too much about him because of his knee injury which means he'll probably drop down on draft day.

u dudes are both wrong. the avs have alot of cap space. the cap is goin up again anyway. they have shattenkirk, nigel williams, cumiskey, and colby cohen who are all 22 or younger. they need some young forwards to compliment stastny and wolski. duchen, schroeder, kane, one of those guys is who they will draft

we dont have a ton of cap space, only 3 million. Besides very low chances that the caps goin up since it's based off NHL revenues, and the economy has dragged that down. Shattenkirk is returning to Boston University for his senior year as well isn't he?

I dunno, in every draft report thing i've seen...it always says the Avs need D and won't draft duchene....but you never know

I'm an Isles fan and I can tell you here on L.I. they are getting the Duchene hype machine going early to prepare us fans for the unthinkable. Instead of taking Hedman or Tavares they are eyeing up Duchene. And no disrespect to Matt, but the consensus 1 and 2 have always been Hedman Tavares

Remember when I posted this, at the time the order wasn't out there yet. Knowing the order now we all can assume Tavares is going to the Isle, Hedman to TB (truthfully their big need), and from there it's a race up until about the 10th pick. From 3-10 there is really top level talent, with a slight drop on pick 11 or so pending on which scout you trust. The #1/#2 top picks were never in doubt, I just assume the third pick is most likely Duchene & the Avs, TB & Atlanta

were the teams most likely to land that pick. Now that we know it's the Avs and Duchene has actually been ranked as high as #2 on some boards, it's most likely he'll be an Av. Add in the fact that he's a good all around scorers (setup and shot) with amazing speed, one can surely see how he clearly fits a huge need in Colorado. With Pierre Lacroix calling the shots again, look for the life long Av fan to join the fold this June's draft.

Yeah no that makes more sense...lol...but yeah the Avs sorely need a really good young player especially with Super Joe retiring soon and the Wolski experient not exactly working out at centre...and it's great that he's a life long Avs fan too.

While I'm still dissappointed that Colorado didn't snag the #1 or the #2 pick, I do hope they snag this kid and make a move on either Halak, Rask or Harding for their #1 GT. If they can line up both these pieces and get Joe to lead the team for his final year, things could truly end up nicely.

Agreed, would you be an Avs fan? lol...and besides, a really solid goaltender, not saying elite, since the Avs have a huge problem with capspace...but get some solid goaltender and they'll be a lot better just based on the amount of one goal games they played all season
...and with the likes of Shattenkirk/Cohen/Cumiskey coming up, the Avs have some promising defensive prospects to rely on.

I hate to say it, we have about 2 years to wait on Shatts and Cohen due to their desire to finish their 4 years at BU (although winning a championship can change things). Oh and that's not even counting the adaptation to the pro level at any level which may be more time. Also, I'm just not big on Kyle C. He's easily knocked off the puck and simply can't finish. I have more hope for the likes of other people in the organization but you never know and I'd be happy to be wrong.

But I went to a vancouver/colorado game last year, cumiskey played, and he had nice speed and skating ability. But you're right about his defensive liabilities. I think he can still become a solid defenseman with a little more development

Obviously they wont get Duchene or Kane because they're going to be drafted early but considering people thought the leafs would draft MSP or Schenn when they had the 9th overall pick then it's pretty obvious they're going to pick them when they're ranked 7th unless they go for Cowen but I doubt they will considering nobody knows too much about him because of his knee injury which means he'll probably drop down on draft day.

Only one game left in the Leafs' season, but nearly any position's still possible within the top 8. They could end up fifth if LA and Phoenix win and Toronto lose on Saturday, win the lottery and draft Tavares for all we know. Chances are that doesn't happen obviously, but I do think Burke's going to do all he can to get Brayden Schenn.

The majority of the mock drafts have the leafs taking either schenn or Svensson-Paajarvi, with a few saying they take Nazem Kadri (which was said when they were projected 9th) and zack kassian which makes no sense cuz he's projected like 15th in every other one.

At this point I would lean more towards Paarjarvi.
With Hanson, Stajan, Mitchell and Grabovski, I think the Leafs main concern may be to get a top-line winger they've always been missing.
Don't get me wrong, I would love Duchene, but I want the Leafs to take a good look at Paarjarvi.
