Beautiful piece of music, even if incorrectly identified as "Stranger in Paradise." The enormously popular song "Stranger in Paradise" was set to this melody, which is known as "Polovistian Dance," composed by Borodin.
@dersteppewolf You have your opinion but you don't need to make it public AND if you think he sucks, why do you make his fans the favor to watch his video and comment like that?

We the Dutch know how to make Music, dont believe me? look at what we have, Andre Rieu, DJ Tiesto, Armin Van Buren, Golden Earing enz.
We are cultural superior, we have been for some time, remember the time of the 17th century, in which Dutch trade, science, military and art were among the most acclaimed in the world and now Music :P
@rogieroh you cant compare nationalities speaking of music, remember that England had the beatles, coldplay United States had the best rock bands like guns and roses, metallica Spain has Andrea Bocelli,Italy had pavarotti, russia and the neadtherlands are good speaking of djs only
@rogieroh: God only knows how many people died because someone else thought they were superior.. And why is it that nations love to take credit for the successes of the individual ? If you want to take personal credit for Andre, will you also take credit for the transport of 140,000 Jews to nazi camps? .. Yeah didn't think so !!
@celticlofts i said we were cultural superior, because were open minded about people and just like to have fun and enjoy ourselves, not killing other people because we think there weak
Finally the magic of the tunes....brings my emotion back...brings soo much back...the essence of silk and the night is alive again...late at night , like now....The Phantom lives again...
@siellgee1955 Thank you for the info! I thought it was an oboe, as the bassoon is the third instrument from the flute. A bassoon usually has an extendend "pipe" on both ends, while an oboe looks like a flute, but with flaired (bell shaped) ending and a thin "blow tube" on the other end. Regards.
OMG.Andre you and your music, you really are the very best, l absolutely love you, the music makes me melt away to a beautiful place where there your music to listen to all day.
I absolutely adore him and his music - his playing is out of this world - what a hunk too ! I could listen to him all day and night and never want it to end.

Interestingly enough this song originated in the play Kismet, which I hope I read it right to say that it's of American origin, and was first picked up by Tony Bennett. This violin solo adapts the song very beautiful, and ironically, regarding your observation, it has been done by a Japanese composer as well.
Kismet is an adaptation of the play Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin. Stranger in Paradise is based on the Polovtsian Dances. It sounds "oriental" because it's supposed to; it's about Prince Igor after he's been captured by the Polovtsy, who were a tribe of people who lived east of Russia, northwest of India.
Es una de las mas hermosas canciones que he escuchado en mi vida, es realmente increible, me gusta muchisimo con las chicas Bond pero esta version es tambien bastante hermosa...un 100 a la cancion!!!
The real name of this song is "Polovetsian dances", composed originally by Alexander Borodin, for his opera "Prince Igor".The producers of the musical "Kismet" just stolen it from him, you can see it by searching "Polovetsian dances" in youtube.
They're playing it a bit fast, but since there is no chorus it doesn't really matter. I played this in my youth orchestra a few days ago, it's awesome.
fantastic orchestra,we call this song our family song my dad went to the suez crisis in 1954,and heard this song as he was leaving southhampton beautiful 10/10.
Chill off, my connoisseurs. It's not a SONG. It a cry of Russian women slaves, a part of the Polovetsian Dances from the opera Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin.
i bow to women as the stronger gender, but clearly they can be hypnotized by the hands and heart of a man. love has so many faces of magic and they provide the mask to unveil a kept coy heart
The violinist is very handsome. This probubly is my most favorite piece of music. It is so very romantic. Does anyone know where this video was filmed? It surely is a beautiful city.
I have seen the title transliterated often as "Polovstian"...(probably French influence) but AcesHighO is correct..."Polovetsian" would more accurately trascribe the origial Russian...which is "Polovetsky" and is pronounced: "po-lo-VYET-sky"
The song as they said is the Polovstisan Dances, composed by Alexander Borodin... the title "strangers in paradise" comes from the 1953 musical "Kismet", that was made into a movie in 1955. Most of the Kismet songs were take from Borodin's songs.
Beautiful piece of music, even if incorrectly identified as "Stranger in Paradise." The enormously popular song "Stranger in Paradise" was set to this melody, which is known as "Polovistian Dance," composed by Borodin.
