  • @ska7er96 Of course it is. But the point of this is to show what Ford can do with 2 less cylinders and still dominate the 2nd and 3rd rate trucks. Anyone today that still proclaims "Ford is shit" is simply the redneck kid who grew up with redneck dad saying his Chevy or Dodge was the best simply because thats what he owned at the time. Thats how most people become fans of a certain brand. I was raised Chevy. But then I reached the age of reason and opened my eyes.

  • so haw mutch mony woold it be to put one of these in my 03 ranger? a smaller 3.0L vershion woold be perfect interested in better fule economy. i think these engines coold put it well over 30 mpg. this woold be amazing for a small truck.

  • I must say ford does an excellent job of advertising the undenialable reliability and performance of their trucks, but in the end, chev and gm are just as good, and dont even require advertising like this to prove it... the owners just know it when they get in.

  • @lc2781 and yah, the block and basics may be stock ford eco tech, but the exhaust and most everything else under the hood of that ford were baja performance add-ons...

  • I've had mine for around 3 months and have not had any issues, and it seems to get more torque the more miles I drive it. I'm loving it so far. The gas mileage seems to be getting better also. I am averaging around 19.1 in the City with some mixed Hwy driving as well.

  • Why dint they stick that engine on a Raptor then make it do the baja straight from the showroom? if they do that ill get an ecoboost.

  • It's on the top of my list for a new truck (f-150 eco boost model). But as the dealer said they have not tested it in our Canadian winters and is waiting to see if it can handle it. The Eco boost engine is going to need all the luck in the world. A month or more of non stop -30c is hell on an engine and the rest of the truck. Not to mention the 7 months of winter. Best of luck Ford you will need it.

  • @Terratracks I bought the F150 eco boost a couple months ago it hasn't seen -35 or -45 or even -55 but I'm sure it's going to do just fine. other then being an aluminum block and heads that take a bit to warm up so there's heat in the cab it runs fine so far at -15 or so.

  • Just test drove the new ecoboost and I can honestly say that I wasn't smashing on the street and the meter read between 11 and 16 mpg and on the freeway the most it hit was 27 mpg at a steady 70mph so I don't know why people on here are saying that the truck is crap. Some people prefer chevy cause that's all they know or dodge but Iv driving them all and to me ford was the best one both in specs and value AND it runs on REGULAR GAS what more do you want?

  • @28power68 They didn't use a v8 sound clip, that's just the way this motor sounds without the restrictive components in the exhaust.

  • @28power68 I've been around engines my entire life, don't bother trying to tell me what's what. Yes at first, even when I heard this motor it sounded like a v8 but it's just a nice boosted v6 without restrictive exhaust...

  • I dont know why Ford doesn't offer this motor in the Mustang .- Probably cus it would make the Shelby look bad . Come on Ford put this motor in the Mustang and make an IRS optional -- just for thinking people ,Kids can have their V-8 and secretaries their low end V-6 -- the remainder need a reason to buy this new era Pony car .

  • @millwrightman99 They did do it in the past. They essentially took a modified, light weight frame of a Mustang GT, changed it's look, threw in an F-150 engine, extensive work to modify it to use a different gear box and all. What they finished with was a super car that probably will remain a legend. That super car is known to the world as the Ford GT.

  • @soccerjonesy I think you may be right --even though you're a bit young , and were'nt around in the hey days of real muscle cars .Ford always leaves out the obvious .How the hell can any thinking person say an IRS is a bad idea axle hop & all that bullshit ,check out the 600 hp corvette or the Lanbos with their all wheel drive .Even that piece of shit Nissan now has launch control and all wheel drive .A turbo V-6 and irs is the least they can do - just like that crap Taurus ugly shit-box.

  • @millwrightman99 Haven't you ever seen an IRS snap at the drag strip? It would have to be one HEAVY duty IRS to be of any use in a truck. The axles don't seem to do so bad anyway, have you checked the lap times of the boss 302's? They run mid 11's at the drag strip with just a pair of sticky street tires as the only "mod" too.

  • @SirKowalski666 Yes but my reference it to a street car .If you have the hots for racing then a regular Mustang would not be your choice --- it would be a heavily modified drag version , But I believe Ford needs to sell these cars to regular people who go to work every day on pot holed roads .These turbo engines would be a neat addition to a Mustang .

  • @millwrightman99 I use my old mans 2010 f150 4x4 supercrew to go to work sometimes, that axle feels fine, its not uncomfortable whatsoever, and the roads here are terrible, I live in Louisiana. I also have a Plymouth Fury that I use for going to work and cruising, it's got a few modern suspension parts and it feels easily two/three times as stable at highway speed than the stock suspension, i've been over 120 in it and it felt fine. It went 12's with the big block before the re-build too.

  • @SirKowalski666 I will agree with you -- Ford has done wonders with that solid log in the back .I used to drive an F-350 at work and when new rode pretty good .

    But you must realize the next step in evolution is an independent rear -- just like the old days we had drums on the rear for the longest time , and before that on all four corners .

    I'm saying make an independent rear optional on the Mustang to bring it to world class --- keep the live rear for die-hards .

  • this video is complete BULLSHIT. my brother just bought a brand new 2011 f150 ecoboost. worst truck he ever bought. every time he starts to get on the boost, the mileage goes anywhere from 2-6mpg. he averages about 30mpg on the highway which is pretty good, but if you need to give it more than 1/8 throttle, you mileage is shit. this video should be considered false advertising. dont believe anything anyone says untill you actually DRIVE the truck.

  • @SirHedden I used to by GM. My 1st car was a GM....but i bought 1 ford in 94..and have not went back to GM. I love my 2010 Lariat..but kinda wish i waited for the ecoboost.

  • I love this series, and I'm really digging the F150's EcoBoost. But why oh why are they dubbing in V8 exhaust sounds? The only times it sounds like a V6 is between 1:10-1:16, and at the very end.

  • Great engine, I'm really impressed. For everybody who's whining about the trannys, that's not what the test was about. This was about getting people to believe that a V-6 can perform as good, and be just as reliable, as a V-8. Ford uses the same tranny for all 4 of its engines anyway.

    But even then, they only went through 2 trannys. One in the logging/nascar track F-150, and one in the Baja 1000 truck. And that's only because you usually want a manual in the Baja 1000.

  • @supersnot4 Wait they went through two transmissions??? Where did you read that? That's a serious game changer for me. The logging nascar truck didn't even go that many miles. And that means the Baja transmission only made it 1072miles. 

  • @Dereks06 Of course they went through 2 transmissions. They didn't blow 2 transmissions, they used 2 different ones. The first one was a normal f-150 transmission. They had to switch because the baja truck has its own transmission. But I'd bet you would have no problem with a stock transmission in the baja 1000

  • @BumbleBeeGS idk about newer ones but the older ones were susceptable to heat but otherwise not bad.

  • @BumbleBeeGS - Every once in a while you have something roll off the assembly line where when one component was installed, the worker was in a foul mood and didn't do the best of jobs. My dad blew a Chevy Aveo motor at 16,000. Generally speaking, I've seen those transmissions last 175K

    As a vehicle depreciates, so do the tendencies of the owner. A brand new car is going to be babied, and a vehicle out of warranty trashed, because the owner cannot afford to take the car in every time it squeaks.

  • @BumbleBeeGS through much of these tests, it has been attached to the same transmission. And I don't really know if that's Ford's weak point. I owned a Ranger. I never had the slightest of problems even at mileages from 196K-236K and according to the Carfax there was never a rebuild.
