The ref was inept to a degree impossible to exaggerate, but it wasn't the ref's fault Bracken threw himself to his back in the first period. And if anyone makes the argument that Bracken was mad at loosing, Look at how Karelin handled his only loss ever; No thumbs down, no complaints; he shook Gardner's hand, walked off the mat. On the medal stand he stood respectfully as the Star Spangled Banner was played. I ref wrestling and I always use Karelin as an example of how to act when you loose.
I think Bracken got screwed with the initial false start calls and the Russian was clearly passive. I never made the Olympics but I know what it means to train for one and emotions run high, especially if you know you should have won a match.
