  • lol, it has the powercall plus tone! great video!

  • Quick call a doctor! We'r loosing it! It's dieing! LOL! cool vid! 5/5!

  • At 0:08 and 0:09, the in-between tone sounds like the sirens from the first Mad Max movie. My brother is with our State Police. He is an Inv now, but when he was a road trooper we did this with one of the older siren units. We both thought it was cool as hell.

  • Thats because you have a short in the box, damn, there not what came with that unit, I know I have the same exact one.

  • I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Seconds 8-11, same siren tone in 'The Blues Brothers' movie pursuit when they made into Chicago, being chased under the L.

    Love it.

  • My department has one in the old tanker that was converted into a TRT. I'm gonna play with it in the 4th of July Parade!

  • I just realized that they took it out and put a Code 3 V-Con siren in it. I like the v-con, but this is better.

  • I have a federal director. The alert is annoying, but "kevinsilverado" is right. You could make morse code with it hahaha

  • I like that sound out of a PA300 when you get the selector in just that right spot in between Hi-Lo and Yelp. Anybody know what I'm talking about

  • PA300s dont make inbetween tones.. :)

  • Yeah youre right, that is a good sound!! PA300 is a good siren. I like the sounds from it. But youre right!! The "inbetween sound"

    Hi-Lo and Yelp is good!!

  • i remember the director!!! it was the cheaper model of the two sirens :-D

  • Anyone remember the old Federal Director siren? Looked just like the Interceptor but with a brown face. The third tone was just a steady tone labeled "Alert". With "Alert" on you could push the manual button and make your own two-tone...back in the day.

  • Yulp. There was a model with black buttons like an old radio preset. if you hit yelp and hi-low you got a tone called riot - code 3 can't compare

  • HA!!! I had one in my truck. I still have it sittin' around. That tone is the most annoying thing that I've ever heard. lol

  • To redneckfireman01! If you still have the Federal Signal PA 20a with the funny tones I would certainly be willing to buy it. I cannot find one anywhere!PLEASE, let's talk!!

  • Hey , you made the siren noise like the Chicago cop cars in "The Blues Brothers ! "

  • I was just thinking that.

  • LOL, sounds like a dj scratching (while being on drugs) - good job! :D

  • I remember this siren. The Fire Department in the city i live in has a 1974 American LaFrance snorkel that has the similar siren. This siren sounds exactly like what is on.

  • This siren is a PA20A series 2E. It is the high-pitched version of the Interceptor. The 2E was introduced some time during the early 1970s and was in production for about ten years. As far as I know only this version of the Interceptor will produce the 'funny' tones. So if you want one of these sirens, look for one that has a serial number beginning with '2E'. The 2E is the most common version, so they are easy to find.

  • This is a Federal PA20A series 2E. It is the high-pitched version of the Interceptor. The high-pitched models went into production some time during the early 1970s and they were made for about ten years. As far as I know only this version will make the funny tones. So if you do find a Federal Interceptor siren, check the serial number and see if it begins with '2E'. There are tons of 2Es out there, so they are not hard to find.

  • Sounds like my car alarm...

  • This reminds me of pac-man and a few other nostalgic video games ;)

  • yeah, that's the Pac-man sounds!

  • The old blue face Federal Interceptor goes back a long way the Federal PA 200 can make some good sounds too!!

  • at the 7 second mark(the high pitched yelp) was used quite often on pilce cars in the 80's and early 90's in my area...and also the the 2 tone yelp at the 28 second mark was also used all the time at the local firehouse where i use to live back in the 90's....man i loved both of those tones....2 of my favorites

  • where do you get these things????

  • These are sirens in use in my fire trucks. Uniformity is a great thing. :)

  • This kind of siren in use? What kind of truck is it in? 1970's era truck?

  • Ha, it came out of an old 70's model truck into a 80's model 18 wheeler tanker.

  • this will sure clear the way..

  • Why was the light all flashing then? That certainly means low-power.

  • probably got a crappy alternator!

  • that too...but a weak battery does some weird things to them

  • wonder what happen if traffic heard the euro style siren that you hear about 23-25 secs in,

  • This happens when they don't have enough power (battery is dead) Ive seen it many times....

  • NO, not really. It's done by placing the knob between the two different tones.

  • Sounds congested. Give it some sudafed and she'll be good as new.

  • I ran with an ambulance service that had the federal interceptor sirens in them and used to get a kick out of "playing tunes" as they called it. When it burned up on the way to a call one day, the repairman said it burnt the diodes out of the siren. That was expensive, but damn it was fun!! :)

  • sounds like your federal unit is sick and needs to be replaced

  • Treating it like that will ensure reliability for years to come.

  • lol sounds funny but i dont think thats supposed to happen lol
