The Beatles are my favorite band, but Modest Mouse is this generations Beatles, without all of the silly love songs (McCartney reference, get it?). Also, The Cure, U2, Led Zeppelin and REM are all great, great bands in their own right. With white music so fragmented and only heard on ipods these days, our culture will never be the same, so I would have to answer no in regards to the grandeur part of your question.

Once apon a time Paul McCartney read an artical in a newspaper about a missing girl & wrote a song about it . Months later he judged a silly dance competition on Ready Steady Go. the winner was a young woman ............. A woman was shown the said artical 40 years later by her mother & realised that she was the same person being sung about in the above song & it was her that won the dance competition.

Neither her nor McCartney ever met each other other than that once, how spooky is that?

Paul could play bass better than John played guitar, and could play any instrument better also. Paul's voice in it's prime was better than John's also and his range was always better.

I'd say Paul was the one with the talent, and the soul.

This has always been "our" song about our daughter Letty aka Tish & Letitia. It's a sad song, but she did leave our home 8 years ago and so true for many parents. From Sgt.
