  • i dnt usually hear that desu part

  • Very very helpful. preparing to meet a friends parents at her wedding for the first time. This is wonderful

  • I don't know why they don't acknowledge that this is not English. Listen fellow English speakers, get English out of your minds if you're ever to learn Japanese. There are several ways to refer to yourself or someone else. Anata, anta, kimi, omae, etc. can all mean "you", but there's a time and place for each. Just to note also, usually if you can help it, the most polite and easiest way to refer to "you" is by just leaving it out. If I'm talking to you, it's implied. Btw, kawaii means cute.

  • @TayoEXE I agree. I've heard from reliable sources that avoiding "anata" when at all possible is best. Japanese people find it much more polite when you use someone's name, and most times you won't even have to use pronouns if it's obvious who you're talking about. Also, use "-san" at the end of their names when you refer to them. It's the polite thing to do over there :3

  • anata wa kakaio desu

  • hear that? she called me handsome (^3^) lol

  • i love your videos, japanese words sound so かわいい

  • how come sometimes when I hear people speak japanese they pronounce the "u" like in desu and others don't?

  • @DistressedDamsel79

Mainly because the words fade out in Japanese however, the u is very prominate if it ends with "uu"

  • @DistressedDamsel79

Because in Japanese, the sounds are short. Sounds that end u or i for example are so shortly said that it's almost unheard. Such as shimashita and desu. But they ARE there.

  • Anata wa kawaii desu. :]

  • i thought kirai is hate while kirei is beautiful. is the subtitles wrong or am i?

  • I would do her.

  • My teacher said that "anata" is actually very rude and that it is much more polite to just use the person's name instead.

  • @xseasonxchangex

i heard that its because "You" in japanese is too direct, therefore its considered rude. as far as i know, "kimi" is not as casual as "anata"

  • @GenerationDarkness

kimi is considered rude as well.

names are the best way to go

  • @bbpeople

i see, then i guess sumimasen is used when dealing with strangers.

  • anata wa kirai desu. no kiddin'

  • Anata wa kirai desu

  • @MasterXDPivot You mean, 'Kirei' ?

  • That is so wierd. Ana is the Arabic word for you and Ata( masculine noun )is the Hebrew word for You. The Japanese word for You sounds like a mixture of the two Semetic languages.

  • @m301943 Who cares?

  • anata wa KIRAI desu :DDDD

  • I thought you weren't supposed to say "I" or "you" in Japanese... that alwase confuses me... >>'''

  • @SakuraNYabuki You only say "I" or "you" if you need to clarify who you are speaking about, thats it, simple.

  • anata wa kirei desu! daisuki dayo! demo ganbarimasu!

  • i think watashi wa is i or me?

  • yes it is.

  • I recall her saying anata means you but you're talking about yourself so wouldn't it mean "I"? And does "wa" mean "am"? As in I am American/ Anata wa America jin desu... Please anyone?

  • If you are American you introduce yourself like this:

watashi wa Amerikajin (jin means nationality) desu. (you put the word desu for polite conversation)

  • @Diana5189

actually, jin and nin both means people/person, that being said, Amerikajin basically means american.

  • does 'wa' have one specific meaning???

  • @Smokepaw12 yeah... it's a particle used to work as the verb "to be"

  • @Smokepaw12 i duno japanese but i thought it made whatever you're talking about the subject.

  • anata wa kawaii desu !

  • sugoii ..demo .. anata wa kawii desu ,,

  • anata wa kirai desu

  • You mean 'kirei'. oo

  • Hai, Kanojo-ga domo kirei-de su

(dont ask why my beginner's book has kirei-de arima-su /or su, sticking to it until I learn/understand why and the difrences)

  • ruseo :D

  • Konichua guys!!!

  • very cute girl....i like her....she can speak

    proper english to.....^^

  • anata wa owner of beautiful bosom desu

  • suteki desu, anata

  • Anata wa kirei kakoimo desu! Anatano otosan samurai desu ka?

  • watashi wa kirai desu!!!! is that how to say I'm beautiful?

  • noo kirai is i hate you, in this case urself, she as was saing kire, and kawai and kakoi.

  • kirai is "hatred" or "dislike"... beautiful is "kirei"

  • I'm confused :( is kirai or kirei = beautiful?Yuu sensei says kirai is beautiful

  • beautiful is "kirei"... maybe there`s some misspelling

  • @radiozoto2006 japanese was never ment to go into english, so thier could be alot of spellings

  • @IMPULSE146 kerei and not kerai << means hate !

  • @radiozoto2006 She said "ki re i". You're taking it as an a because of your own accent. Kirai is pronounced "key rah ee"...

  • @tidenburg pal, "kirai" is "what I just said here and in the Blue Hell... consult a dictionary and you'll see I'm right, and my Japanese accent is not the english mimicking of it

  • @radiozoto2006 I don't know if we're arguing about the same thing. What she says in the video is 100%, without a doubt "Kerei". I thought your first comment was saying that she said "kirai", which she clearly didn't. :3

  • @tidenburg and what could she possibly said? she's Japanese... how do you think she could misspell a word on her native language?

  • @radiozoto2006 I thought YOU were saying she said Kirai ffs. Maybe you should be on a "How to understand English" video instead of Japanese ;) Read my comments, they make sense. I'm not going to respond anymore.

  • @tidenburg you're welcome... I could care less

  • neko wa kawaii desu :D

  • she is so hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot

  • how to say i love you or i love her

  • Good teacher !

  • i remember kimi wa because Ishida Uryuu from bleach ALWAYS uses it... xD

  • cause his a dick

  • sweet woman

  • kire ta wa!

  • kirei( 綺麗) clean/pretty

    Q:キムさんは綺麗な人ですか

    A: はい、綺麗な人です

    Q:Is Ms.Kim beautiful ?

    A:Yes,(Ms Kim) is beatiful.

  • what does that mean

  • Anata wa Nihongo desu :)

  • im part japanese...lol

  • Comment removed

  • OnlyGreatness007, so this means my sentence was correct ?

  • What is the difference between "kawai" and "kirai" ?

  • kawaii is cute~while kirei is pretty

  • watashi wa suweeden kara kimashita.

Anata wa suwe-dengo wo hanashi masuka?

  • lol cock is in handsome 4 man rofl

  • thanks for the lessons.... Anata wa kirei na hontoni....

  • 'wa' is poited at the subject of the sentense like watashi is "i" and "i" is the subject of the sentense so we need to put the "wa" after the subject so it will be like "watashi wa" like in the sentense "watashi wa anarchyinblood desu" :]

  • what's the wa and desu there for

  • The desu is for politeness :) Wa.. i dont remember xD

  • wa is the subject particle.

it is used to show the subject of the sentence.

"neko wa" would mean you are going to talk about a cat.

if everyone knows what the subject is, then "wa" doesn't need to be used anymore unless there is a subject change (say to "ushi" [cow] )

  • ok she is a good teacher but why she dosent put numbers on the vid so we can see it in order :S it's hard 2 understand when she say we where speaking about and i miss that vid

  • @giovan182

Numbering videos is an american cultural thing. They don't number videos in japan. Again, it's culture.

  • Comment removed

  • @signupsigma i'm from venezuela and japanese have a very strong meaning of order so i belive they have and other way 2 set the order for the vids and thanxs for the coment ;)

  • @giovan182 giovan182, you are kakoi desu.

  • @signupsigma its kakkoii

  • Kirei is either "beautiful" or "clean. It has two meanings.

  • i thought that "handsome" in japanese is "kamukha ko"..

  • agree!! heheeee..

  • Kieri is a term for cleaning not for pretty

if you want to be quick just say "Anata wa Kawaii Desu" The word kawaii is used alot in the term of says cute or pretty

  • I LOVE U

  • kirei is the wrong word.... you look japanese but are you really????

  • To give a better explanation than this video's misleading version: Kirei is used more as a word for "Clean" not "pretty"... If you want to say to a girl that she is pretty you can use utsukushii in place of this video's "Kirei"

  • hmm u can still use kirei. utsukushii can go suk it.

  • omoshiroi..

    =)

  • un mochiron. kanojo wa watashi no nihongo sensei desu kara (san nen).

  • Comment removed

  • kirei desu

    kirai is hate ^^

  • anata wa kawaii desu sensei ^_^

  • the easier way to learn japanese is to go to japan and listen what they are talking.

    that's how i know english.

  • Obviously, gakuenpearl78, but it's a little more difficult than that. Most people don't have the money to travel, let alone start from scratch and spend a year learning how to talk by mere exposure. Remember, you didn't learn to talk overnight. You listened for years, and then it took you another few years to master it. (And don't tell me you had a large vocabulary with perfect grammar when you were 18 months old, I'm so tired of those liars.)

  • okay....lol

  • Not trying to be a smartass, but it's like telling someone the best way to learn how to cook is to go to culinary school and work as a chef.

  • shes not explaing the wa and desu

  • She does in other videos, they are probably intended to be watched as a set or playlist. They are words used in a good percentage of sentences, so it would be redundant to discuss them in each video.

  • you use wa before something important. it's just a word and desu means are

    ..i think :D x lol

  • Hmm anata ha nihonjin jyanai desu ne. chotto henna nihongo jyanai?

imi ha OK demo... koe ha hen. Kankokujin kana- ... 2nd gen kana-

datte .. kirei to ka... utsukushi jyanai desyo?

    mmmmm >.>

  • definetaly no

  • how to write 'happy birthday' in japanese? *just asking..;P*

  • 誕生日をおめでとうございます

  • thank you soooooooooooo soooooooooo much.. ありがと!.. *correct if i'm wrong*

  • guess you're right^^

  • thank you so much for these videos theyre really so useful!

  • How would you write handsome/cool like she does on her board, I'm trying to write this stuff down but its hard to figure out by sounding it out. Please and thank you.

  • what means desu?

  • Desu is pronounced des and means it is but sometimes in some sentenses it doesn't

  • these video's are good help!

Whenever I read the words and what they mean, but it's just written, it's harder to know how to use it. But this video explains it better! and how to use it. instead of just giving me information I don't know how to work with.

    *happy*

  • ww onaka ga...

waah, i forgot how to say i'm hungry...

  • onaka ga suki machita?correct right?
