Oh my god. The alliance version of Saurfangs demise is way better than the horde one. Too bad I've not seen it yet ingame. But my Paladin is on the way to Level 80 so it won't take long until I can enjoy this loregasm finally.

Varian Was a Dickhead at the retaking of Undercity... the murder of Bolva Fordragon made him blind to who the true culprits were. So he decided to blame Thrall and Sylavanas although they had nothing to do with it. Its a sign of an immature prat to just blame the most convenient of people rather than heeding the facts.
@Jemethaa Bolvar was the closest thing varian had to a brother and when he heard he was murdered by the undead plague after thrall knew for so long that they were making it and they left such a dangerous weapon unchecked Varian was pissed and felt that if he took there base of operation he could take the plague and keep it safe from any one who could miss use it.

Varimathras was understandable (How he withstood Sylvana's short leash is anyone's guess), but no one could have guessed so many forsaken to turn on their queen. If Varian had just taken the time to listen to reason he could have acted like a true king.

If it were not for him, Horde and Alliance forces would not have been able to put aside their differences and work together against the scourge. Sylvanas was not either directly to blame. But for her to let the Forsaken continue to make the plague and ignore what was being done to human prisoners in the Undercity was disgraceful. She deserves to be stripped of her title following what happened.

I'm Horde but I like Varian, I understand why he has a problem with the Horde. I don't think he has a problem with all the races maybe just the Orcs and Forsaken but thats just my view of it. If my Tauren could join the Alliance he would.

saurfang can cleave muradins head of and pown al those alliance soldiers , thats the only reason why varian did this xD otherwise the alliance whas fucked up .

@jkkiel Have you seen Garrosh in cataclysm beta? There is a quest where an orc in the stonetalon mountains drops a massive bomb on an innocent night elf village. Garrosh finds out, grips that orc by the throat and throws him off a bridge as punishment. That is what you call bad ass.
I'd have to say that the Horde has a better intro to this fight because you have the confrontation between father and son.
On the other hand I think the Alliance has the better ending because of the performance King Varian puts on here really brings out the better aspects of his character
As much as I like the Alliance more, Saurfang would have cleaved the shit out of Muradin and everyone else in the room. You can imagine how much rage someone has, when he is being stopped from trying to give his OWN son a proper burial..bit disappointed in Muradin. The only father Thrall knew was a drunk that use to beat him when he lost him money in the arena (even when Thrall was wounded) and kept him locked away in a dungeon. Half his life was filled with misery. Garrosh is still you and impulsive, with guidance from Thrall, Voljin and Eitrigg he will soon come around.

@hellkaiser96 I have read up the lore of both - not in great detail but I have a general understanding. Garrosh lacks honor, respect, patience and responsibility when people that have had worse lives manage to show at least some of those qualities. There are some examples in Cataclysm which show a more mature and wise side to him, but ultimately his foolish thirst for war will destroy the Horde and shatter the alliance Orcs have with other races.

i remember in vanilla Saurfang was one of the most feared NPCs of all NPCs in World of Warcraft, next to Hogger ofcourse. His rage is always 100, his charge knockbacks people by 30 yards and his Mortal Strike crits for 10000 on plate also if you ever crit him it would activate saurfang's rage it will make him counter attack for 8000 to 12000 no CD on it either yeah that guy is some real badass.
This is why I like Varian Wrynn, don't get me wrong Thrall's cool too but he just isn't quite as dynamic as Varian in my opinion...can't help but wonder if there's going to be some sort of joint operation in Cataclysm...that would be interesting.

The event is very good in both versions although probably better to see the alliance version of it from a horde perspective because it shows Varian isnt a total cockmonger to the horde.
I think Varian saved Muradin from getting slained by Saurfang! Well in all reality, I don't know why Varian wouldn't stand with his brothers and finish off fighting the LK along with the Alliance. Guess you can say the same for Saurfang doing the same for the Horde side as well.

Despite his story with the horde, they indeed accepted the forsaken and left them unchecked for a long time as they did experiments with human prisoners, they were an evil that was left loose under the protection of the horde and their 'peace' with the alliance.

And before you go off on me, take into consideration his history with the horde. His father was slain by a half orc woman, the orcs' warchief killed the man who safely brought him to Lordaeron, he was enslaved by an orchish gladiator while he had amnesia, and the incident at the wrath gate.
Put all that together and you expect a King that would less of an ass to the opposite fraction?
True he has had a bad experience with the horde (but not the entire horde is evil!) as a king, you should never let emotions rule (Such as his anger gets the best of him, specially after the wrath gate, WITHOUT knowing the actual true until now!) Heck, Thrall had a horrible past too, and he doesnt hate humans! (sure raised by one but still most were evil to him) and yet he acts differently. So why cant he do the same too?

afterall Horde generally go into denial and lash out rather than actually looking up information, or they do look up the information but twist it so that they appear as victims and the Alliance being evil for no reason.

And with Cataclysm, it apprears that with Garrosh the Horde is not being held back anymore, and Varian was right all along!

i remember in vanilla Saurfang was one of the most feared NPCs of all NPCs in World of Warcraft, next to Hogger ofcourse. His rage is always 100, his charge knockbacks people by 30 yards and his Mortal Strike crits for 10000 on plate also if you ever crit him it would activate saurfang's rage it will make him counter attack for 8000 to 12000 no CD on it either yeah that guy is some real badass.

I think Varian saved Muradin from getting slained by Saurfang! Well in all reality, I don't know why Varian wouldn't stand with his brothers and finish off fighting the LK along with the Alliance. Guess you can say the same for Saurfang doing the same for the Horde side as well.

Despite his story with the horde, they indeed accepted the forsaken and left them unchecked for a long time as they did experiments with human prisoners, they were an evil that was left loose under the protection of the horde and their 'peace' with the alliance.
Varian just realised that the horde were too dumb to be left unchecked.

And Azahe, it's not that the horde is too 'dumb' to leave unchecked. To Varian it's more of they are too wreak less to leave unchecked.

And before you go off on me, take into consideration his history with the horde. His father was slain by a half orc woman, the orcs' warchief killed the man who safely brought him to Lordaeron, he was enslaved by an orchish gladiator while he had amnesia, and the incident at the wrath gate.
Put all that together and you expect a King that would less of an ass to the opposite fraction?

True he has had a bad experience with the horde (but not the entire horde is evil!) as a king, you should never let emotions rule (Such as his anger gets the best of him, specially after the wrath gate, WITHOUT knowing the actual true until now!) Heck, Thrall had a horrible past too, and he doesnt hate humans! (sure raised by one but still most were evil to him) and yet he acts differently. So why cant he do the same too?
