Yeah, what kind of president do you think Sen. Obama would be given this experience?
His political experience *in its entirety* consists of:
Only eight years in the Illinois state legislature,
a *failed* attempt to win a seat in the US congress,
and just *one* term in the US congress!!
Can you imagine a president like that? The only person I can think of who was elected to the office of the president with that kind of background is . . . Abraham Lincoln.
Funny you should mention Lincoln, because Cornel West said the same thing in essence on Bill Maher 10/31/08. He was saying we need a Lincoln - being serious. Im not sure if you are saying that or if you believe it.
Really? That is interesting. It only just occurred to me tonight. I just kept hearing about Sen. Obama's political experience and I thought "Well, geez, he was an Illinois state senator before going to the US Sentate . . ." somehow that reminded me of Lincoln, so I went and checked. Actually, Sen. Obama has a bit *more* political experience than Lincoln had. Lincoln served only one two-year term in the US House before becoming president and Sen. Obama's US Senate term is longer than that.
Yeah some would argue that it takes experience or patriotism or whatever they think is right when it comes from their candidate's mouth, but I look at everything. Like the hypocrisy of the republican party and how much worse it is than the Dems.
