How else are they supposed to do it? If you understand how they do it in theaters you'd get that you'd need a whole new type of screen (possibly 2) to achieved the same effect with polarized glasses. The only way to do it on a regular screen is to use colored glasses or cross your eyes.

Red/Blue 3d 1952? Time for you to hit google for a while! It was nearly ALL polarized in the 52-55 3d boom. And thats a fact.

i.e: If you want to look at it cross-eyed, choose parallel from the menu.
