Why did the cops come? Was a complaint made? You assert that they were ready to kill you...on what basis? Why didn't you just comply? Seems to me they would have determined you didn't have a permit issued a warning and left. Cops - for obvious safety reasons - have the right to ask a potential threat to empty their hands. Just like you have the right to hold a video camera when there are no public complaints against and you are not in an aggressive posture against a Peace Officer.
