  • very nice! i used 65g of this to cut down a 4 inch thick tree trunk.my ratio 50g ammperch, 15g AL

  • Can you use Potassium Perchlorate instead?

  • @sammac14 Yes, then you won't even need to use a blasting cap :)

  • Do u really get that type of explosion from ammonium perchlorate + alumminum cuz I herd u just get a type of flash but I wanna no wat+ wat = big bang lol

  • wow.. able to detonate.. :D awesome (:

  • Can you use ammonium perchlorate in normal flash powder instead of potassium perchlorate and it work with a fuse? (and be more powerful?)

  • No not that I know of, a similar mixture is used for rocket propellant though.

  • hey dude can u pm me the ratios that u used

  • Finally someone else who has discovered the joy of amperch. Wish you lived around my area man, we could have some times.

  • Try detonating ammonium perchlorate without any sensitizers (or just a tiny amount), it's surprisingly brisant. How deep was the charge buried? I might have to try this.

  • It was buried about 1ft deep, I really underestimated the power of the charge and as you can hear the sound escaped that dirt without a problem which means I won't be using this location for a long time lol. I should have another video up soon with a smaller sized charge and no aluminum. Also nice new videos on your profile man.

  • hey! nice video..

i have blast big rocks with this stuff..

    greetings

Do you know of any shock speed values for ammon perc alone without fuels added? I tried 10:1 ammon perc + aluminum powder today and achieved full success with some PETN on top. I know that the aluminum just adds some pulse energy to the blast, but does not increase det pressure. I just wonder to what extent this is true. In other words, I'm curious if pure ammon perc can be more brisant that ammon perc with a most appropriate amount of aluminum added.

  • @iwasapenny

Also, I do wonder how sensitive ammonium perc actually is by itself. I have always used a coffee grinder to prepare it for fast rocket compositions. Now I wonder if that grinding with the coffee grinder is potentially dangerous.

  • I have no Idea, not much info is to be had on ammperch, maybe you could find some VOD's somewhere in the NAR/TRIPOLI lawsuit against the ATF though.

I know the ATF classifies -50 micron ammperch as " shock sensitive", whatever that means.

Generally, explosives are more brisant when there aren't any additives, but they release less energy.

ETN is a good example, its VOD is highest when pure, but you can do more work with it, as it releases more energy, with say, ETN/NG/AL.

  • great!
