Atheists are just people who don't believe in god. Believing in god is not a criteria to being educated or intelligent. In fact the more education and knowledge people have the less likely they are to believe in god. Atheists make up about 15% of the US population but less than 0.2% of the US prison population.

In reality crusades weren't righteous, they were mostly about money and power. Crusaders slaughtered women and children and not just Muslim ones, whereas Muslims showed more restraint back then. Just because islam is a backward religion it doesn't mean we too need to revert back to thirteenth century and say that crusades were good.

But the problem with Muslims today is that a large percentage of them view all political and moral questions in terms of their affiliation with Islam, and this leads them to rally to the cause of other Muslims no matter how sick and sociopathic their behaviors are. Westerners have a very rich (too rich if yo uask me) history of self-criticism but unfortunate we don’t see the same in Islam.
