If you don't like this, then you have a bad sense of humor. Nesmith is the first narrator of Deep Thoughts, and while may not be a good as Handey himself on SNL, it's still rather funny and completely silly. It works well with the creator of PopClips reading it. (PopClips was the father to the original MTV network.....you know, when they played music videos. Oh wait, most of you don't remember that.. )

The person who wrote these little sayings, Jack Handey, is not the same person who is voicing them in this video. Michael Nesmith is the best! I'm kind of laughing at all these people who don't know what this is from. Sure it's not SNL. It's from Television Parts! A completely different show from the mid-eighties. Michael Nesmith, one of The Monkees, wrote and produced a lot of it (of course minus the jack handey bits) and it's his voice in the video. Great stuff.

This is one of the ORIGINAL ones. Jack Handey first appeared in Michael Nesmith videos in the late 80's

I'd grown up watching Nesmith's stuff and loved Elephant/Television Parts, including Deep Thoughts. When I worked at SNL in 1990, I mentioned to Jack (who was a staff writer then) that I loved Deep Thoughts and was wondering if he would bring them to SNL. He said, "I'm considering it, yeah"...and then he did, thankfully.
