Part 2 - The "sovereignty" issue should be non-existent as the property and who has the rightful ownership is still in the courts. The current Jamul tribe is a tribe without land.

It's both. The persons removed from the property do not want the casino and were the original tribal council. The current tribal faction forced them out of the tribe and then forced them off their property. So yes the per cap will go up. Problem is the properties and homes were willed to their descendants. The property is not a reservation only land held in trust for the original seven families of 1/2 Jamul blood. Not one of the current tribal members lives on the property.

I am sad that people have been torn apart and trusts broken. Karen and Walter losing everything that they love made me cry. I am sad that this happening across the country. I agree with justinieweinie. Federal Indian Law is a specialty that takes time to learn. UCLA has a program through their extension program on Indian Law, I reccomend it. Many Tribes have Tribal Police, and if you called them goons you would be looking at the back of a police car. If this is these people being peaceful, I would hate to see them being violent.
