7:38 has NOT been bent in the jack bender.... If it was then you had the wrong die in it, I have never seen pipe do that ONCE in 15 years of working in the steel trade, I think you need to go to trade school...
A little knowledge can be a dangerous tool. The outside dimensions of a nominally sized PIPE will not correspond to the O.D.of TUBE. IE,they are different. Pipe is measured INSIDE and tubing is measured OUTSIDE so 2"tubing is NOT the same as 2"pipe.THEREFORE you need PIPE dies and rollers AND Tubing dies and rollers. Ive used these benders without a hitch and the key is knowing what dies and rollers to use. Pipefitter, steamfitter over 35 years in the trade.
@joecoool100 it doesn't matter tubing can be in various thicknesses. pipe, pluming pipe it doesn't matter look at my vid more throughly and listen how a pipe is properly bended. try bending pluming pipe it will prove the same point in my explaining in the vid. i show the difference on a harbor freight pipe bender design V.S. a properly designed pipe bender. I don't just show, i explain in detail the best that i can in this vid
@honeybunchickens Weather it is a 99 dollar harbor freight unit or a 5 thousand dollar unit like we have at work, you cant slap a 2 inch mandrel in and bend 2inch pipe or 2inch tubing. Pipe is 2inch ID and tube is 2inch OD. With lots of variation. Mandrel fit is super improtant to the quality of the bend. I do agree that the HF type China benders are ok at best, but you might be suprised what some people can do with that bender. Check out this Pro bender...same type as HF.
I own one of those harbor freight pipe benders. I understand the difference strengthwise between that style and the mandrel style, but they bend pretty well as the wall thickness increases. I have made custom hand rails , roll cages , ladders ( that bend at the top to encorperate a handrail into it) . I have bent aluminum and steel. The expensive benders are great, but till I have money to burn , I'll be using my harbor freight one.
I'm wondering if the "improperly designed" pipe bender is meant for bending solid rods instead of hollow pipes. Wondering is the distribution of energy would be different though solid a solid core.
@akcender yea man, you would have been disappointed, Im trying to get a better one myself i returned that other piece of crap in and got my money back. The good ones are so expensive, especially the hydraulic types and the attachment dies, I will just get piece by piece though and eventually i will have a complete professional pipe bender, i rather just save money in the long run when having the best design, id rather get the job done right and not half ass with a kink in the middle
@honeybunchickens why dont you try to make your own hydraulic one? You could use a conduit bending die and somehow rig up a leverage system with the handle and it would be pretty much the same as the one you showed in the video

I wanna bend some 1 1/2 in.pipe to make a 3 ft height x 1 1/2 inch across hand rail. What would be a cheap and efficient way to this?

you need to check out Dopescustoms video on bending 2!

I think you are trying to bend "tubing" on a Harbor Freight "pipe" bender. Big difference between tubing and pipe...check it out

Useful info, I think I can apply these tips on a smaller scale with aluminum and plastics.

@akcender I was just thinking of that yesterday, that is strange. You are very innovative

@honeybunchickens That is weird, and thank you

@honeybunchickens You mean to say you had to by a bender to find out you get a kink with the jack type : /
But Im a boiler maker welder so I was trained with what was better,
