I also appreciate accuracy in information. Still, whether the facts are completely (impossible) or close to accurate or not, DUIs are wrong. That's the point. I don't care if it's MADD or another organization, DRUNK DRIVING is WRONG! Drunk driving deaths are inexcusable, but in the age of the internet, so is ignorance. If you watched the above video or any of MADD's propaganda, you probably left thinking "drunk driving bastards", as well you should. But watch the video again to see how many deaths they claim are caused by drunk drivers. They dont claim any because there are no facts on this issue, only conjecture. This post is by no means a defense of drunk drivers, just the truth.
There are a number of articles from reputable newspapers, doctors, and independent researchers (including anti drunk driving groups other than MADD), who I believe are correct when they say, in the long run, MADD's distortion of the facts will cause great harm to the cause. Jeanne Pruitte (a data miner) found that the actual numbers were less than an eighth of what MADD claims.
Actually,if a sober person having drank a half a beer, and registering the lowest measurable BAC of 0.01,gets hit by a sober driver, its called an "alcohol related" accident. If you are a sober designated driver, driving your friends home (and one of them has been drinking)and you are hit and all killed by a sober driver, you are all counted as alcohol related deaths (as is the sober driver if he/she dies). If noone dies it is simply an alcohol related accident.
If you are drinking, dont drive! I agree wholeheartedly. But I have to say, In college I decided to write a report on drunk driving. I figured I would go to MADD's website and pull a few facts and my report would be done. That was until the instructor shot it back to me saying I needed dissenting view points. I figured that would be a major problem. Everyone knows nearly have of all deaths on U.S. highways are caused by drunk drivers.
Look at that program on MTV called "MY SUPER SWEET SIXTEEN". Look at the cars the parents buy for they're kids and let them drive off on. FFS its no WONDER theres so many deaths on american roads.
what does the price of ur car have to do with driving? also it says 30% of teen driving accidents are alcohol related... what about the other 70%?.... DERRRRRPPP!
no i'm not. your comment says look at the CARS the parents buy for they're kids. What does the TYPE of car have to to do with the driving. you think a teenager is gonna be any better in a honda civic instead of a range rover?
Point is Matt...they are letting them loose on the roads. Spoiled brats who only want to drive so they can be socially accepted, yet are not mature enough to drive. Parents are giving kids cars man! Think about it.
matt...buddy...what im saying is that parents dont realise they are letting they're kids behind the wheel at such a young age. Kids try to impress other kids by speeding and taking immature risks! Hense, fatalitys. You may not agree and i respect that ok. Just my opinion.
read about it Matt buddy. The reality of it is worse. I pity the ones who are lost in accidents at only 16yrs old over they're parents mistakes in letting them foolishly drive at that age.

ok, so they shouldn't get cars and in that vein shouldn't get licenses either? what age is appropriate for both?
MattJones1418 4 years ago
Man.. i respect you but you still dont get the point. HINT: cars and kids behind the wheel= ?
mastud 4 years ago
u didn't answer my question... but = kids driving?
MattJones1418 4 years ago
kid driving trying to impress other the other kids in the car+ speed+ rich parents who provide the car without thinking = more death on the road.
mastud 4 years ago
ok... u still didn't answer my question, so all parents should be poor then if a kid is 16 and gets a license?
MattJones1418 4 years ago
