I really don't think their world's time can be compared to ours, since their world isn't ours. So whatever happened in our history wouldn't be the same as what is happening in their world. It's a fantasy world after all.

Chrono's time frame is different from ours', their AD is from when the kingdom of Guardia was founded. So it's equivalent to our time.

That is incorrect. 1005 is when Guardia was defeated by Porre. The game takes place in 1020 since Radius mentioned how it has been 15 years since he, Zappa, and Garai 'tore up the battlefield', as he describes it.

And since there isn't any other conflict other than Guardia's fall, there is no other possible date.

Actually, undedz, it is you who is the one who is incorrect. 1005 AD, as explained by AcaciaSgt, is when Guardia fell... and when Crono and Marle vanished for no apparent reason. Chrono Cross is set in 1020 AD.

About the hidden spaced behind the painting... they prob. build a false wall, rather than digging holes in the wall.

Also, they're not poor as in "have no wealth", they're poor as in "aren't generating enough income".

They have resources to make the paintings, it's just his dad is too much of a perfectionist to sell them, but prob. sells enough or otherwise earns enough to keep buying art supplies, etc.

Chrono Trigger's "present" was 1000 A.D., and I think HCBailly said this was a few decades after the events of that game, so maybe about 1030-1050 A.D.?

The Church once considered it heresy to charge interest on a loan; charging interest was also a violation of Islamic law. That's how Jewish people got so involved in banking; they were the only ones allowed to loan money and collect interest from the Christians. Then once the Christians didn't need to borow money anymore, they kicked the Jews out.

The whole "not charging interest" thing during the Middle Ages was something enforced by the Roman Catholic Church - based on the idea that fellow Christians shouldn't take advantage of each other. The practice started to fade away around the 1700s.

You should, it's fun....as long as you ignore the plot. The battle system is great and it gives you a lot of freedom to go wherever you want and your actions really do influence what will happen later on (certain actions, or lack of actions, will have some MAJOR consequences).
