No. They retreat into the mud-covered, gravel substrate pretty quickly when touched or disturbed. Like most annelids, they are really very shy. But what rhythm! ;-)
My feelings exactly. But it really is quite exciting to stumble into 'em whilst filming toad tadpoles. I've only seen tubifex worms in the wild a couple of other times. ;-)
Like if you moved back because you thought it was a scary pop-up :D

Well, the worms themselves are really quite small, but I'll bet they'd be a grand feast for couple of sticklebacks. ;-)
