I come from Australia and I think that there should be a British GP. I think that the tradition that surrounds the race is fantastic and I like that element that F1 has. However I do think that it is great that F1 is becoming more global and more countries are getting involved. The introduction of new races like shanghai and bahrain and now the new team of force india goes along way to ensure the future of F1 and also gathers in a much larger audience.
I think Ferrari and McLaren will be back in the podium in Catalunya, and from Barcelona to Abu Dhabi there are 13 races left, so both championships are still open. At least the Finns dont need a F1 GP, we already have a GP on gravel in August :). But why there arent a race in States anymore? Well, we are leading consumers per capita of ice cream in Europe, so maybe thats why hes Kimi ice cream Räikkönen ;). Keep up the good work.
No GP in the states because they just weren't pulling the crowd. I don't think they have a solid enough fanbase out there or
the financial incentive to keep it going.
I have a feeling McLaren have a shot at a couple of podiums this season, but I think if I was Ferrari I'd be investing my money into the 2010 car.... so they dominate next season. I can't imagine they will go for the budget cap.
Pritty face, may have job in media if she keeps at it but too bias (keeps ranting on about Lewis). The pro's give at least a minute for all the teams.
I have always been a Mclaren since I supported Senna. Then Mika fan then Kimi but I'm not a fan of Ferrari that much because of the stupid management (LUCA). If Brawn, Todt Rory was still running it Kimi could of had been was great as Shuey.
I hope he wins - I'd love to see Brawn take the championship home. I thought Toyota really would have been more dominant but I think that's the genius strategy of Ross Brawn that really won that race. No one seems to know what's going on with the BMW's - I wonder if they have any improvements lined up for Spain.
Yes its really great when a driver does well despite a weaker car. Hamilton did great, and you can expect that to continue I suppose and also Alonso proved he can do well in a weaker car so of course look out for him. I believe Raikkonen has done the best he can with his car at the moment, Massa has just been defeated some rotten luck.
I love that too and that's what makes both Alonso and Hamilton such stunning drivers. Massa seems never to be as consistant as Raikkonen, but I think he wants it more this season.
Hamilton Alonso Vettel Kubica Button Massa Raikonnen Webber Rosberg Barrichello Button deserves to be in the top 5, he's special when it comes to race-day... when it counts. e.g. the season at Bennaton when Trulli was out-qualifiying him most races but Button came on top when it counts, at race day. But the next season Button got axed for test driver Alonso! I know now its because of contractual politics... at the time i couldnt understand it.
Sadly it seems like it's not the track that Bernie is considering, it's the facilities. Silverstone is pretty run down compared to other tracks such as Bahrain. Plus as ever with Bernie money is also something that he cares about, and the sad truth is he will get more money from places like Abu Dhabi. Part of me thinks we wont loose the Brit GP and this is just Bernie wanting more money and such and it will be a repeat of the whole brands hatch thing.
Yes remember us aussies were going to lose our race unless we agreed to a night race! The Victorian govt did not budge and Bernie settled for twilight. It seems he needs the least-subtle way possible to let other race promotors around the world know he's open to negotiate...
Ross Brawn is now showing how huge his role was in Schumachers over achieved career. Button won again, thanks to strategy - unfortunately this was the dullest race of the season so far
I'd agree there, it was the least interesting so far. And Ross Brawn is proving what a tactical genius he is... and showing he was at least part of Schmachers sparkle...
Funny what you say about the Government's role in funding the race, because the Melbourne race here is government-supported (makes a huge loss each year which taxpayers bear). Given what the UK governent is spending on the 2012 olympics I'm sure they've got a bit to spare to at least guarantee it. But I do agree you guys deserve a race; Bernie talks about 'key markets' etc and none are more-so than the UK.
Btw I've noticed you pronounce 'Vettel' differently to other britons...mere observation.
Well... I've heard all the British people say Vettel.... and yet some American broadcasters pronounce it Vettle... I say pronounce it however you'd like haha,
Donnington is a great track as is Brands Hatch, Thruxton, Goodwood, and Oulton Park. Youre spoilt for choice and yes you absolutely deserve a GP. Hawthorn, Graeme Hill, Clarke, Surtees, Stewart, Hunt, Mansell, Damon Hill, Hamilton, Vanwall, Cooper, BRM, Lotus, Brabham (we may both claim these guys), Tyrrell, McLaren, Williams, Cosworth, Ilmor, and Climax are among many more reasons why there must always be a British GP. No other country has had that sort of impact on F1. Not even Italy.
Greetings from Melbourne Australia, thanks for the friend invite - yet more people to talk F1 with, harrar! In no way are you arrogant to suggest there must always be a British GP. Anyone with even the slightest interest in the sport and a mild appreciation for its history should know that the British GP must ALWAYS be on the calendar. Along with Monaco and Monza, Britain (and in particular Silverstone - the site of the first ever World Championship race) should be a must every year....
With regards British GP, I fear that Bernie will be as ruthless as ever.
Seems like they're all being replaced by oil money & empty stands - I wouldn't mind if the races had some atmosphere... Bahrain was a good race, but as an event it's nowhere near tracks like Monza or Silverstone - you need a fan base and Bernie seems blind to this as he chases the $.
Is that some sort of 'cat hammock' in the background by the way? Nice vid.
And i couldnt get this is one comment, so im gonna double post, sorry. But although Brawn has a strong points lead at the moment the season still has quite a ways to go and both toyota and red bull are bringing a strong fight to them, so id really like to think the nothings been decided yet. I hadnt heard until this about donnington, you know why theyre switching from silverstone? As far as a British grand prix, it should most certainly be kept. Was dissapointed when f1 left us and canada.
It's moving to Donnington in 2010 (if it gets completed) basically because Bernie is saying that Silverstone cannot deliver the facilities to continue the contract. I enjoyed it last year...
Good to see other devoted f1 fans, your video was interesting, got me to subscribe =D To be honest, vettel was the easy choice for the win this weekend. Hes been quite impressive lately and was the f1 sites pick for the win. I did think of kers pre season as a passing device, not a blocking device. Ive always been a Mclaren fan, and hamilton continues to impress, with kovaleinin being a continual dissapointment.
A British Grand Prix is so important!!! As an American I know how it feels to have a grand prix ripped away from you... however, the British Grand Prix is a time honored tradition.
Bernie wants the government to pitch in because he's wrapped up in the mentality that governments are there for a bailout and should ensure the races' future... when in reality races (with some exceptions) have always been privately run. I think sometimes Bernie gets wrapped up in his own fantasy world.
Well Bernie might have a stroke if had to get rid of just one of those classic cars. haha But I agree... he should become part of the solution rather than sit back and criticize.
However, I'm reading reports that many races this year will be sparsely populated with spectators due to the spreading of the Swine Flu. What do you make of that?
Been waiting for the swine flu thing to come up. The media coverage terrifies me, and if it does me, I'm sure it will others. I wonder if the races would go ahead without a ticket buying public for a TV purpose. If we're all sitting at home with the flu, I really hope they keep them going. I guess it depends on the severity of the flu.
Well, I've read reports that it will possibly affect attendance at MotoGP events like the upcoming race at Jerez. I can only imagine it will be the same for F1.
I certainly am concerned about the Swine Flu... but I wonder if it's being blown out of proportion at this point...?
I can only say that no swine time would ever stop me from going to a race!
Maybe they will sell off all the tickets really cheap this season because of Swine Flu and then we can buy the best seats in the house for £25. I'll wear a mask. I'm in.
I don't mean to be so negative... but despite Ferrari and McLaren's improvements, All of the rule changes and new regulations to encourage closer racing by F1 officials has utterly failed. It has not only hurt top teams like Ferrari and McLaren...but also teams that have had nothing but struggles.. like BMW... putting them in an even further disadvantage
The conspiracy theory that the more established teams were encouraged to focus on KERS whilst the pressure was off the rest of them and they focused on aerodynamics, what do you think? I reckon it's probably a load of rubbish, but interesting idea all the same.
Well it can clearly be seen that Red Bull and Brawn focused on aerodynamics.. they're designers are some of the greatest who have ever lived. . . . but I'm not sure that I buy into that theory. Brawn seems to have the total package at this point.
While I love seeing the golden oldies up front.. I think it's very clear that all the BEST drivers are not competing for the championship at this point.
I'd say Hamilton, Alonso, Vettel, Kubica and I think Rosberg has something special too. Not sure how much I rate Massa or Kimi although I do like them both.
Its Was A Boring Race.. Hamilton Done Well.. And Button Had That Race Handed To Him.. Im From Australia And I Say F1 Needs Silverstone. Let's Hope Hamilton Can Get Some Wins.. All This Brawn Talk Is Killing Me..
The reason Britian is going to lose F1 is because for years they let Silverstone go to shit, facilities are junk, the teams complained & nothing got done. So they tried to move it to Donnignton and guess what? Bad economic times hit and no money to pay the bills.
Is that F1's fault or typical British managment that didn't fix the roof when it was sunny (during economic boom) left it until bernie threatened no more British GP. Many other countries that would love F1 are coughing up the cash!
I was there yesterday in Bahrain and got to watch the race. It was the first live F1 even I've been to. It was quite an interesting experience, especially when I got to go on a tour of the pit lane and see the cars (including the safety car) up close.
Anyway, one thing I noticed about those BMWs is that they have a different engine note. Do they rev lower? It was very obvious when one of the Saubers was about to drive by just from the sound alone....it was much deeper than the other cars.
I wonder if BMW changed the firing sequence to smooth the power out. They may have been worried about the reduced down force this year. That would be cool to find out if any techies know.
this has to be said, all this fluff about cooling on the brawn, was never about cooling, it was about manipulating airflow to the diffusor yet again, none of the tv guys will say it but hey, the silver dwarf does not stifle opinion
whats your point? there will always be advantages and disadvantages in F1.... look at ferrari... always a 1,2 victory and same with maclaren when hakkinen drove.... if it was ment to be equal then every car would be exactky same shape but they aint so stop talking out your arse, every team has its own personal preference
First things first, another great vid. The idea that the government should fund the British GP is simply laughable, if push comes to shove and Bernie really wants there to be a British GP he could fund it himself. I'd like to point out that this was Nelson Piquet's first of the three races he's been given to prove himself, I would say that this was his best race this season, he actually finished for one, two he gained 5 places, and three he was only about 12 secs behind Alonso in the finish.
my favorite part of the race was when Barichello was trying to overtake Piquet. i dont remember who was heavier or who had what tires on, but as they pull out of the corner Rubens was catching up to the Renault and then Nelson pushed his 'special button' (this is the KERS) and had the Brawn eating his dust* as the flew to the next corner. after several attempts and frustration, he did manage to overtake.
*the pun was not originally intended, but now that i have noticed it.
one a side note, we were watching in a bar, and were talking about Ferrari's KERS breaking down. then the power came off for a few seconds, and someone shouted, 'must be kimi's KERS acting up again.'
at first i didnt like the way the season was heading but now i think its great that we have all these world class drivers who dont have to struggle behind bigger teams..its just what f1 needs......go lewis/button
The thing was that Vettel cut down the 16 sec led to 7 sec led of button in just a few laps. That "kid" is extremley good. Both the setup of the car and his driving style is preforming fantastic. About BMW it's terrible, that's with Kubica? He lost all his fire when he crashed with Vettel in Melbourne.
I don't blame it on Kubica, I blame on the car personally. They just haven't got to grips with Kers or the aerodynamics, its a poor showing from BMW, I thought we'd see a strong 09 from them, I'm a bit gutted really!
Vettel's such a clever one... super skilled driver that comes across as such as a 'nice boy'.
Yes maybe, I think that they will show better in races like monaco and other tracks that is more close and that there is both high and lowspeed corners. About the car is right, many of the teams haven't got a perfect car yet. Those diffusers cars ain't so perfect. Toyota shown that today and also Williams that are in the shadow of the other diffuser cars. They qaulify high or are showing good pace in practice but in race both williams dirvers cant impress.Hope that force india will score some day
The diffusers are not what makes the cars go fast. The absence of KERS won't make the cars go fast either. It is the entire rest of the aero package. Red Bull cars don't have diffusers, they don't have KERS either. KERS or lack of it, diffuser or lack of it is not the entire explanation for the bad pace that Renault, Ferrari and McLaren are showing.
Brawn and Red Bull just did a better job than all the others.
I agree 100% with you, it's a combination of elements across the whole aerodynamic package. I'm looking forward to seeing what Brawn have up their sleeve for Spain.
I think that KERS will be tested in Spain more than any other. The main straight is (correct me if I'm wrong) the longest one in F1. I believe that what Brawn has to do is endure the race if they don't show the pace that they have showed lately.
KERS will have a bigger advantage, no doubt. The question is, will the advantage be big enough to outpace the Brawns? We'll have to wait to find out. McLaren definitely looks good for the Spanish GP, at least better than all the other KERS cars.
you definitely know more than me.... but McLaren are certainly the strongest of the KERS cars. Did you see them break down the components of the KERS McLaren system on the beeb red button footage? Interesting stuff.
Naahhh... I don't know that much... I'm just a fan. And no, I haven't seen the McLaren video on KERS. Where can I find it on the web?
Also, what's your take on the whole "no refueling" rule during the race for 2010?
On another note, although I'm not british, I fully agree that we need a British GP. Silverstone is a fantastic venue and a great track to test driver's courage with the "S" bends at the start of each lap, much like Spa's Eau Rouge turn. Fun to watch in the rain too.
Yeah... sorry to be the messenger of bad news. To me the FIA is going too far with that one. Refueling is what makes F1 fun. No refueling takes a part of the "team" quality away from the sport.
Refeuling I think will be missed when it is dropped next season; fuel strategies are what make races such as today's exciting as it allows the teams to use their wit to overtake. However, I think with the tyre compound rule brought in this season, the FIA are trying to create a new aspect of strategy which is spicing things up a little.
Very good race and reviews, im looking forward to the spain gp as everyone will get a new bit at the cherry, i think that the british gp should stay becuase as the change in wheather there it is a good track for a wet race and unlike are last boat race it wont get to wet. I think they should keep the brit track cas i feel we lost another great track already, canada i though was a very flowwing track and good to watch but that has been remove, can wait till monico as im going WOOOOO
his sucess with Brawn might give him a real taste for the sport, I cant see the government handing out millions, not in the current climate, its the likes of Richard Branson are the only hope to save the British GP.
I agree the KERS did have a big influence on todays race. Button was outstanding a well earned win. Britian is the heartland of F1 and not to repay the fans by having a GP would be disappointing. richard branson to the rescue?
Can you remember how people scoffed when toyota set up shop in germany? or when the Prost tried to make the team an all french outfit? F1 need britian & Britian need F1, the experts are all based here, not having a GP here could move the focus point of the sport abroad & change the dynamic of the sport as well as loose load of jobs in the process.

I'm a Brit living in Munich.
We do need a British Grand Prix.
F1 is a sport with a very large British influence.
ChrisMaKi 2 years ago
What do the Germans think? I reckon they would agree with us.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
I think Ferrari and McLaren will be back in the podium in Catalunya, and from Barcelona to Abu Dhabi there are 13 races left, so both championships are still open. At least the Finns dont need a F1 GP, we already have a GP on gravel in August :). But why there arent a race in States anymore? Well, we are leading consumers per capita of ice cream in Europe, so maybe thats why hes Kimi ice cream Räikkönen ;). Keep up the good work.
testingtestaa 2 years ago
haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :)
I can't imagine they will go for the budget cap.
thanks for dropping by, much appreciated.

Pritty face, may have job in media if she keeps at it but too bias (keeps ranting on about Lewis). The pro's give at least a minute for all the teams.
SalamOxford 2 years ago
Fair point about the bias! I shall bear it in mind! Who's your favourite team?
FanCastTV 2 years ago
I have always been a Mclaren since I supported Senna. Then Mika fan then Kimi but I'm not a fan of Ferrari that much because of the stupid management (LUCA). If Brawn, Todt Rory was still running it Kimi could of had been was great as Shuey.
Keep the good work......!
SalamOxford 2 years ago
thanks for finding the time to watch :)
Brawn was such an influence on that team...
FanCastTV 2 years ago
I don't remember the last time I didn't see Ferrari or McLaren in the top 3.
Ask me what on earth is wrong with BMW 18th and 19th.
I thought Toyota had this race won with a 1-2 grid.
But Brawn GP wins again and I believe Jenson will be World Champion this year
darkgaz 2 years ago
I hope he wins - I'd love to see Brawn take the championship home. I thought Toyota really would have been more dominant but I think that's the genius strategy of Ross Brawn that really won that race. No one seems to know what's going on with the BMW's - I wonder if they have any improvements lined up for Spain.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
I believe that Toyota will win a race in 2009.
When was the last time you remember a poduim without a McLaren or Ferrari within the last 10 years?
darkgaz 2 years ago
Yes its really great when a driver does well despite a weaker car. Hamilton did great, and you can expect that to continue I suppose and also Alonso proved he can do well in a weaker car so of course look out for him. I believe Raikkonen has done the best he can with his car at the moment, Massa has just been defeated some rotten luck.
EmphaticItalic 2 years ago
I love that too and that's what makes both Alonso and Hamilton such stunning drivers. Massa seems never to be as consistant as Raikkonen, but I think he wants it more this season.

Re: Loosing the British GP
Sadly it seems like it's not the track that Bernie is considering, it's the facilities. Silverstone is pretty run down compared to other tracks such as Bahrain. Plus as ever with Bernie money is also something that he cares about, and the sad truth is he will get more money from places like Abu Dhabi. Part of me thinks we wont loose the Brit GP and this is just Bernie wanting more money and such and it will be a repeat of the whole brands hatch thing.
xlou7 2 years ago
im from australia and i understand the need for a british gp, i suspect this threat is a negotiation tactic by bernie
MrRodzilla 2 years ago
I bet you're right there, I didn't think about that.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
Yes remember us aussies were going to lose our race unless we agreed to a night race! The Victorian govt did not budge and Bernie settled for twilight. It seems he needs the least-subtle way possible to let other race promotors around the world know he's open to negotiate...
tnralliart2600 2 years ago
I wonder if he'll settle for Silverstone then.... or Brands Hatch...

Ross Brawn is now showing how huge his role was in Schumachers over achieved career. Button won again, thanks to strategy - unfortunately this was the dullest race of the season so far
shaggerthorpe1 2 years ago
I'd agree there, it was the least interesting so far. And Ross Brawn is proving what a tactical genius he is... and showing he was at least part of Schmachers sparkle...
FanCastTV 2 years ago
Funny what you say about the Government's role in funding the race, because the Melbourne race here is government-supported (makes a huge loss each year which taxpayers bear). Given what the UK governent is spending on the 2012 olympics I'm sure they've got a bit to spare to at least guarantee it. But I do agree you guys deserve a race; Bernie talks about 'key markets' etc and none are more-so than the UK.
Btw I've noticed you pronounce 'Vettel' differently to other britons...mere observation.
tnralliart2600 2 years ago
I wonder why I do that! Am I saying his name wrong? Vettel? or Vettle?

Not even Italy.
beeDUB75 2 years ago
That's a good point. There's other tracks out there outside of Silverstone and Donnington. Maybe we need to start a petition.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
Greetings from Melbourne Australia, thanks for the friend invite - yet more people to talk F1 with, harrar! In no way are you arrogant to suggest there must always be a British GP. Anyone with even the slightest interest in the sport and a mild appreciation for its history should know that the British GP must ALWAYS be on the calendar. Along with Monaco and Monza, Britain (and in particular Silverstone - the site of the first ever World Championship race) should be a must every year....
beeDUB75 2 years ago
:) ta for stopping by. I'm starting to think we need to take this up with Bernie. Fan power and all that right?
FanCastTV 2 years ago

Was dissapointed when f1 left us and canada.
g0ing2n0where 2 years ago
Bring on the double posting.
It's moving to Donnington in 2010 (if it gets completed) basically because Bernie is saying that Silverstone cannot deliver the facilities to continue the contract. I enjoyed it last year...
FanCastTV 2 years ago
Good to see other devoted f1 fans, your video was interesting, got me to subscribe =D To be honest, vettel was the easy choice for the win this weekend. Hes been quite impressive lately and was the f1 sites pick for the win. I did think of kers pre season as a passing device, not a blocking device. Ive always been a Mclaren fan, and hamilton continues to impress, with kovaleinin being a continual dissapointment.

FanCastTV 2 years ago
A British Grand Prix is so important!!! As an American I know how it feels to have a grand prix ripped away from you... however, the British Grand Prix is a time honored tradition.
Bernie wants the government to pitch in because he's wrapped up in the mentality that governments are there for a bailout and should ensure the races' future... when in reality races (with some exceptions) have always been privately run. I think sometimes Bernie gets wrapped up in his own fantasy world.
rdbextreme 2 years ago
Someone else suggested they think Bernie should put his hand in his pocket and help out...
FanCastTV 2 years ago
You know Bernie wouldn't ever seriously consider shelling out his OWN money hahaha.
Even though he likes to show it off... example: He brought a bunch of his personal classic cars to Bahrain to show off at an exhibit.
But I would LOVE to see the British Ecclestone Grand Prix!!!
rdbextreme 2 years ago
I saw those classic cars. They are worth SO much money. Sell one of those, pay for some new toilets at Silverstone...
FanCastTV 2 years ago
Well Bernie might have a stroke if had to get rid of just one of those classic cars. haha But I agree... he should become part of the solution rather than sit back and criticize.
However, I'm reading reports that many races this year will be sparsely populated with spectators due to the spreading of the Swine Flu. What do you make of that?
rdbextreme 2 years ago
Been waiting for the swine flu thing to come up. The media coverage terrifies me, and if it does me, I'm sure it will others. I wonder if the races would go ahead without a ticket buying public for a TV purpose. If we're all sitting at home with the flu, I really hope they keep them going. I guess it depends on the severity of the flu.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
Well, I've read reports that it will possibly affect attendance at MotoGP events like the upcoming race at Jerez. I can only imagine it will be the same for F1.
I certainly am concerned about the Swine Flu... but I wonder if it's being blown out of proportion at this point...?
I can only say that no swine time would ever stop me from going to a race!
rdbextreme 2 years ago
Maybe they will sell off all the tickets really cheap this season because of Swine Flu and then we can buy the best seats in the house for £25. I'll wear a mask. I'm in.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
sell tickets cheap? yeah right like thats gonna happen lol.... maybe next season with the budget cuts.
deperer 2 years ago

FanCastTV 2 years ago
I don't mean to be so negative... but despite Ferrari and McLaren's improvements, All of the rule changes and new regulations to encourage closer racing by F1 officials has utterly failed. It has not only hurt top teams like Ferrari and McLaren...but also teams that have had nothing but struggles.. like BMW... putting them in an even further disadvantage
rdbextreme 2 years ago
The conspiracy theory that the more established teams were encouraged to focus on KERS whilst the pressure was off the rest of them and they focused on aerodynamics, what do you think? I reckon it's probably a load of rubbish, but interesting idea all the same.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
Well it can clearly be seen that Red Bull and Brawn focused on aerodynamics.. they're designers are some of the greatest who have ever lived. . . . but I'm not sure that I buy into that theory. Brawn seems to have the total package at this point.
While I love seeing the golden oldies up front.. I think it's very clear that all the BEST drivers are not competing for the championship at this point.
rdbextreme 2 years ago
Who are the best drivers in your opinion?
I'd say Hamilton, Alonso, Vettel, Kubica and I think Rosberg has something special too. Not sure how much I rate Massa or Kimi although I do like them both.

LewisHamilton1991 2 years ago
haaaa, that made me giggle - you're the first to say something negative about Brawn!
FanCastTV 2 years ago

Wow, talk about jealous. It looked like disneyland out there, that race track - palm trees, perfectly organised etc etc.
I'm not sure about the BMW engines - can anyone else help?

First things first, another great vid. The idea that the government should fund the British GP is simply laughable, if push comes to shove and Bernie really wants there to be a British GP he could fund it himself. I'd like to point out that this was Nelson Piquet's first of the three races he's been given to prove himself, I would say that this was his best race this season, he actually finished for one, two he gained 5 places, and three he was only about 12 secs behind Alonso in the finish.
Chimper90 2 years ago
That is a great idea.... Bernie's a billionaire! What's a few million quid to him?
A few people have mentioned Piquet this week, I wonder if he has done enough to save himself.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
my favorite part of the race was when Barichello was trying to overtake Piquet. i dont remember who was heavier or who had what tires on, but as they pull out of the corner Rubens was catching up to the Renault and then Nelson pushed his 'special button' (this is the KERS) and had the Brawn eating his dust* as the flew to the next corner. after several attempts and frustration, he did manage to overtake.
*the pun was not originally intended, but now that i have noticed it.

FanCastTV 2 years ago
The thing was that Vettel cut down the 16 sec led to 7 sec led of button in just a few laps. That "kid" is extremley good. Both the setup of the car and his driving style is preforming fantastic. About BMW it's terrible, that's with Kubica? He lost all his fire when he crashed with Vettel in Melbourne.
h3nr11k 2 years ago
I don't blame it on Kubica, I blame on the car personally. They just haven't got to grips with Kers or the aerodynamics, its a poor showing from BMW, I thought we'd see a strong 09 from them, I'm a bit gutted really!
Vettel's such a clever one... super skilled driver that comes across as such as a 'nice boy'.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
Yes maybe, I think that they will show better in races like monaco and other tracks that is more close and that there is both high and lowspeed corners. About the car is right, many of the teams haven't got a perfect car yet. Those diffusers cars ain't so perfect. Toyota shown that today and also Williams that are in the shadow of the other diffuser cars. They qaulify high or are showing good pace in practice but in race both williams dirvers cant impress.Hope that force india will score some day
h3nr11k 2 years ago
The diffusers are not what makes the cars go fast. The absence of KERS won't make the cars go fast either. It is the entire rest of the aero package. Red Bull cars don't have diffusers, they don't have KERS either. KERS or lack of it, diffuser or lack of it is not the entire explanation for the bad pace that Renault, Ferrari and McLaren are showing.
Brawn and Red Bull just did a better job than all the others.
javixm 2 years ago
I agree 100% with you, it's a combination of elements across the whole aerodynamic package. I'm looking forward to seeing what Brawn have up their sleeve for Spain.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
I think that KERS will be tested in Spain more than any other. The main straight is (correct me if I'm wrong) the longest one in F1. I believe that what Brawn has to do is endure the race if they don't show the pace that they have showed lately.
KERS will have a bigger advantage, no doubt. The question is, will the advantage be big enough to outpace the Brawns? We'll have to wait to find out. McLaren definitely looks good for the Spanish GP, at least better than all the other KERS cars.
javixm 2 years ago
you definitely know more than me.... but McLaren are certainly the strongest of the KERS cars. Did you see them break down the components of the KERS McLaren system on the beeb red button footage? Interesting stuff.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
Fun to watch in the rain too.
javixm 2 years ago
I don't think anyone's put it up yet, I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I find it.
No refuelling????? Are you kidding, I didn't know about that???? disaster! I watch this race for the strategy as well as the drivers and technology.
FanCastTV 2 years ago
Yeah... sorry to be the messenger of bad news. To me the FIA is going too far with that one. Refueling is what makes F1 fun. No refueling takes a part of the "team" quality away from the sport.
javixm 2 years ago
Refeuling I think will be missed when it is dropped next season; fuel strategies are what make races such as today's exciting as it allows the teams to use their wit to overtake. However, I think with the tyre compound rule brought in this season, the FIA are trying to create a new aspect of strategy which is spicing things up a little.
brunoboi 2 years ago
I don't like that idea at all... I suppose it will be a while before we get the full outline of the 2010 rules.

kingjimsixsix5 2 years ago
I agree the KERS did have a big influence on todays race. Button was outstanding a well earned win. Britian is the heartland of F1 and not to repay the fans by having a GP would be disappointing. richard branson to the rescue?
