  • Damn yuppies.

  • fucking YT is a hypocrit

  • Sound notwithstanding (just download the video and stick the song back on yourselves, people) My fave part is when the car slides and destroys the patio furniture. Not sure why, but that part is awesome.

  • It's funny that Warner Music Groups action of removing soundtracks from youtube videos actually encourages us to download the song, possibly without paying for it.

  • Um...if thers an issue w the song that nissan paid for and was advertised ontv for all to see and hear for free, why cant I hear it now? I have an idea, take the fuckin video off, thers no point to watch it if you cant hear it

  • OMG WTF?!?!?

  • dont buy products from wmg !!!

  • THIS IS SOME SHIT!!! We must find the dicksuckers that keep doing this so that we may put our dicks in their mouths, then take them out and slap them upside their stupid little heads!!!!! fucking greedy ass whiny little bitches!!!!!!!!!!

  • !Fucking corporate whores!

  • COPY AND PASTE THIS TO YOUR COPYRIGHT VIDEOS!

Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.

they can't mute or delete the video!

  • just tried this with an insult video aimed at rush limbaugh using george carlin content and it didn't work

  • fucking youtube they do whatever the record companies tell them, and stupid facebook as well I uploaded a video the other day and they just deleted it, end of story no explanation, and threatened me with deleting my account!

  • IT'S a FUCKING COMMERCIAL!!!! WE CAN'T EVEN WATCH CONTENT THAT WAS INTENDED TO MANIPULATE US IN THE FIRST PLACE. WMG RESERVES THE RIGHT TO USE THIS MUSIC TO MANIPULATE YOU INTO BUYING A DIFFERENT PRODUCT!!!

  • Can you say backfire. I will no longer buy any products from them. Period.

  • motherfuker was ok with WMG when the shit was on TV for a year.

  • you can thank the cult of scientology for sensorship...they are the assholes to do all this crap.

  • Alright Youtube and Warner Music Group are really getting out of hand with this stupid copyright law. I mean we aren't even making profit off of this they should thank us for posting stuff like this because we are actually promoting there stuff. Last time I checked copyright meant if you were making profit off of it which we aren't. This copyright law is pathetic.

  • Audio track not authoized? I thought it was authorized when Nissan paid Van Halen to use it.

  • You gotta be Kidding me!

  • FUCK THAT COPYRIGHT BULLSHIT

  • LOL at ken

  • GREATEST AD EVER....VAN HALEN ROCKS!

  • How can the audio be disabled for a commercial, by which Nissan payed royalties for?!?!

  • No kidding... and so it goes. I used to be able to see both sides of the "copyright" argument, but this is just pathetic. If anything, it would have helped sell more music... it's a commercial for f#*@('s sake. Certainly not a big fan of Warner Music Group right now.

  • wow i remember seeing this comercial when i was like 6

  • Oh man... I can't believe I found this. This is the best commercial of all time.

  • I remember this commercial from when I was 3 or 4 haha...

  • Quite cool and pre-Toy Story. Nicely demonstrating the joy of sporty car as well as telling us all that, "yes this car IS a toy".

  • Ya know, this isn't too far from how us girls played Barbies. CLASSIC ad!!!

  • The actor at the end is Dale Ishimoto. His

portrayal of Mr.K in the Nissan comericals

was incredibly popular. I thought he was

cool, plus he was Asian and gave the Nissan

brand a refreshing look. Dale Ishimoto passed

away in 2004. It would be great if they brought the Mr K mascot back for the 370z.

  • I remember this commercial from 6th grade lol.

  • ohhh !!!!!

I like that car is very cool !!!

  • how is this song called??

    i love it!!

  • "You Really Got Me" by Van Halen. Original version of the song was done by The Kinks.

  • You really got me - Van Halen

  • It was originally done by the Beach Boys.

  • The Kinks actually

  • the guy at the end kinda creeps me out...

  • ...G.I. Joe! (Real American Hero!)

    G.I. Joe is there!

G.I. Joe vs Cobra the enemy

    Fight to save the day...

  • No this is a 12 Joe not the little 3 ¾, so it would be G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe fight man from head to toe

  • Love it, I got the same car in the same colour. Now where is Barbie?!

  • I still have the T-shirt with Joe and Barbie in the car on it. Underneath the picture is the caption: "Life is a journey. Enjoy the ride." It's good to find the commercial again after so long. :)

  • hahaha feggy ken stays behind...best commercial ever!!!

  • very realistic, no girl would choose ken over gi joe, unless one of those lesbians that doesn't know she's a lesbian.

  • i want to buy one!

  • that last comment was supposed to go to JD.. whoops, spazzz :p

  • omg! this was my favorite song in 5th grade bc of this commercial and i haven't seen it since! love it

  • I always loved this ad! Thanks for posting it.

  • lol, this vid was awesome.

  • Love this ad. A classic.

  • haha take that KEN!!!

  • This commercial has been stuck in my head for 2 weeks... SO glad you posted this. LOVE it and LOVED it then.

  • Also, the director wanted the door going out of the boys room closed farther, with the car just barely squeezing through. The driver told him, repeatedly, that he couldn't make the pass without hitting the door, but the director wouldn't let him open it farther. So, when the director wasn't looking, the driver nudged the door open farther and they got the shot. I think the driver was a (then) current RAOR champion, but I can't recall his name. More totally useless trivia by JD!

  • LMAO, thanks for the info ne ways, I love stuff like that.

  • useless but fascinating. thanks :)

  • Mattel sued Nissan over this commercial, claiming trademark infringement on both their Barbie and GI Joe lines. The commercial was pulled very quickly. The car is a modified Tamiya TAO2 with a custom interior. It is a shaft driven 4 wheel drive 1/10 scale RC car. In one of the down shots, you can see the steel shaft going down the center of the car.

    JD

  • One of the best commercials of all time PERIOD! Like others have mentioned, I laughed my ass off repeatedly when it first aired and still to this day! The 2 best parts, 1. When she comes down the elevator all sexy and they show "Joe" and he kinda gives a little "shift" as if he is all hot and bothered 2. Of course, when they show Ken and David Lee Roth rips into "OH NOO NOOO!" PERFECT timing and editing! The absolute BEST song possible for this Ad. Excellent quality, thanks 4 posting!

  • Excellent! I remember laughing my ass off when I first saw it back in the 90's!

  • Why can't they make cars or commercials like this anymore?

  • because hollywood has ran out of ideas. What happened to original commercials like this one anymore??

  • This was the best commerical ever made! I have been looking for it ever since it stopped playing on television. Thanks for sharing it! Great quality too! :)

  • Very fun commercial... cute!

  • best commercial ever!! love it!!

  • asokrbum where did you download this video from, i have this one on my ipod but it was recorded from VHS and isnt good quality

  • Vinton Studios created the commercial (hence, the "V" in the corner of the video) and it was originally available on their website .

The company was acquired by Phil Knight and rebuilt as Laika Entertainment, so the video doesn't appear to be on the site any longer.

  • Hello. Since the video isnt in the site aymore, would/could you send it to me or post it somewhere? thanks

  • Indiana Jones steels Ken Barbie XD

  • Why is that old dude there again?

    THIS SHIT ROCKS!!!!

  • The old Asian guy was from the Nissan Ad campaign at the time "Enjoy the ride" There were other commercials with him and his little dog - I think a Jack Russell Terrier -and the ads were about how trucks are fun and how dogs love them and one gave the history of pickup trucks and how Nissan has been in the business for so long. They stuck him in there at the end as a way to tie him in to the ad.

  • Also, somewhat of a shout out to Yutaka Katayama, who pushed for the first Z car to be made.

  • Amen to that

  • i met the guy who made this commercial today!

  • BEST Nissan commercial ever! Thanks for the high quality upload (the others out there are way too grainy). Too bad the next generation 300ZX lost this styling...

  • Funniest and the BEST commercial EVER. The song fit that perfect. Only commercial thats ever been memorable.

  • This is my favorite commerical of all time. I loved this commerical when I was a kid and still love it today. Thanks for posting.

  • it's a great ad. unfortunately, it didnt help nissan to increase their sales in us. moreover they lost 518 million $ in 1996 :D

  • Does anyone know where the parody of this commercial is? I remember Mad TV did one, where the GI Joe guy was drinking and crashing into stuff.

  • I've asked about that parody, too. He stole the car from an old woman and crashed into the kitty. Then Barbie ran off with some mohawked woman on a bike. Wicked.

  • I forgot that he carjacked the old lady, classic. But no one has it? that makes me a sad panda....

  • reply to queenboadicea:

Thank you! I do remember a parody of this ad as well. I think it was MadTv. I remember cracking up when I saw it.

I forgot all about these Nissan ads. And the Asian dude at the end. I totally forgot he was in all the Nissan ads. What was his role in the ads again ?

  • It WAS MadTV. They did great stuff with those commercial parodies. I don't know what that Asian guy was doing; it never made a lick of sense to me so I just ignored him. That's probably why you forgot about him, too.

  • ya i actually remember this one! i remember the funny japanese man Lol dude 90s commercials were bomb dude too bad they don't make 'em like that anymore, same goes with the cars.

  • One of the greatest commercials of all time. Great post in high quality.

  • Oh my god I actually remember this!

  • was their an actual scaled replica like the Z used in the commercial for sale back when this came out?

  • This commercial is awesome. Not only a great concept, but so many great touches: e.g. smacking the dinosaur, the cool way he punches the power button to start the car, the look on his face when he scares the cat, the way he skids sideways at Barbie's crib, and of course the forlorn look of Ken with his wussy outfit. But the best part is how Preppie barbie all of a sudden gets all tarted up with the hair and mini-skirt and rides down the Barbie elevator. Hilarious.

  • I never thought about that part before now. I mean, the GI Joe doll (or whatever one it is) is your typical bad boy: checking his hair, driving the cool car recklessly, whistling for the girl instead of ringing the doorbell like a gentleman. But what really pleases is the bad girl Barbie is underneath the prep wear. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • Is that Arte Johnson at the end, or some freak impersonating him?

  • Ken got what he deserved,Barbie needed a real action hero. Now,Ken can go back to the Village People and come out of the closet.

  • Cool!

  • My now ex wife hated this commercial, when it would come on the kids would yell throughout the house "Daddy your car is on tv," and she would always say " that's your fantasy," It wasn't but the car was. Best car I ever owned by far even to this day. Thanks for posting this high quality version.

  • Look out, kitty! Oops, roadkill! Poor Ken. Well, he was way too fruity for Barbie anyway. Hey, where can I see the MadTV parody of this, the one where Barbie drove off with a girl on a motorcycle?

  • I can't stop watching this, this is one of the greatest commercials ever made

  • Ditto! This was such a terrific commercial. Even if I never bought a car in my life, I'd remember what a terrific concept this was. Truly one of the original commercials out there.

  • I loved the way he hit the dinosaur in the face as to almost say "get off me man!" Of corse this type of child like imagination is probably why my GI Joe...w/his damned kung fu grip...ended up in fragments in my backyard. It would take an archelogical dig to find him now.

  • Thanks for uploading this excellent quality copy.

The spot is simply perfect, unimproveable.

Eddie, Dave, and co -- what a waste. Props to Ray Davies

  • I freakin' love this commercial!

  • Thanx for a very clean copy of the best commercial ever!

  • This IS THE ALL-TIME FAVORITE commercial of mine!!! How we should all live! As I say " Every day you live is one less day that you will be able to live - SEIZE THE PRESENT MOMENT!!!"

  • My fav commercial of all times. This commercial came out the last year of production for the 300Z. As well as a large sum of money, they gave Eddie Vanhalen the last 300Z off the producton line. He actually gave it to his mom.

  • For years I remembered this commercial but not what company did it. Glad to find this high quality version! Thanks for posting it.

  • Greatest. Commercial. Ever.

  • what song is this ?

  • "You Really Got Me" by Van Halen

  • It's by The Kinks, not Van Halen.

  • Sorry, asokrbum, you're right, this version is by Van Halen. The original is by The Kinks.

  • I remember this from when I was a kid.thanks for posting it.
