Sound notwithstanding (just download the video and stick the song back on yourselves, people) My fave part is when the car slides and destroys the patio furniture. Not sure why, but that part is awesome.
It's funny that Warner Music Groups action of removing soundtracks from youtube videos actually encourages us to download the song, possibly without paying for it.
Um...if thers an issue w the song that nissan paid for and was advertised ontv for all to see and hear for free, why cant I hear it now? I have an idea, take the fuckin video off, thers no point to watch it if you cant hear it

fucking youtube they do whatever the record companies tell them, and stupid facebook as well I uploaded a video the other day and they just deleted it, end of story no explanation, and threatened me with deleting my account!
IT'S a FUCKING COMMERCIAL!!!! WE CAN'T EVEN WATCH CONTENT THAT WAS INTENDED TO MANIPULATE US IN THE FIRST PLACE. WMG RESERVES THE RIGHT TO USE THIS MUSIC TO MANIPULATE YOU INTO BUYING A DIFFERENT PRODUCT!!!
Alright Youtube and Warner Music Group are really getting out of hand with this stupid copyright law. I mean we aren't even making profit off of this they should thank us for posting stuff like this because we are actually promoting there stuff. Last time I checked copyright meant if you were making profit off of it which we aren't. This copyright law is pathetic.
No kidding... and so it goes. I used to be able to see both sides of the "copyright" argument, but this is just pathetic. If anything, it would have helped sell more music... it's a commercial for f#*@('s sake. Certainly not a big fan of Warner Music Group right now.
I still have the T-shirt with Joe and Barbie in the car on it. Underneath the picture is the caption: "Life is a journey. Enjoy the ride." It's good to find the commercial again after so long. :)
Also, the director wanted the door going out of the boys room closed farther, with the car just barely squeezing through. The driver told him, repeatedly, that he couldn't make the pass without hitting the door, but the director wouldn't let him open it farther. So, when the director wasn't looking, the driver nudged the door open farther and they got the shot. I think the driver was a (then) current RAOR champion, but I can't recall his name. More totally useless trivia by JD!
Mattel sued Nissan over this commercial, claiming trademark infringement on both their Barbie and GI Joe lines. The commercial was pulled very quickly. The car is a modified Tamiya TAO2 with a custom interior. It is a shaft driven 4 wheel drive 1/10 scale RC car. In one of the down shots, you can see the steel shaft going down the center of the car.
One of the best commercials of all time PERIOD! Like others have mentioned, I laughed my ass off repeatedly when it first aired and still to this day! The 2 best parts, 1. When she comes down the elevator all sexy and they show "Joe" and he kinda gives a little "shift" as if he is all hot and bothered 2. Of course, when they show Ken and David Lee Roth rips into "OH NOO NOOO!" PERFECT timing and editing! The absolute BEST song possible for this Ad. Excellent quality, thanks 4 posting!
This was the best commerical ever made! I have been looking for it ever since it stopped playing on television. Thanks for sharing it! Great quality too! :)
The old Asian guy was from the Nissan Ad campaign at the time "Enjoy the ride" There were other commercials with him and his little dog - I think a Jack Russell Terrier -and the ads were about how trucks are fun and how dogs love them and one gave the history of pickup trucks and how Nissan has been in the business for so long. They stuck him in there at the end as a way to tie him in to the ad.
BEST Nissan commercial ever! Thanks for the high quality upload (the others out there are way too grainy). Too bad the next generation 300ZX lost this styling...
I've asked about that parody, too. He stole the car from an old woman and crashed into the kitty. Then Barbie ran off with some mohawked woman on a bike. Wicked.
Thank you! I do remember a parody of this ad as well. I think it was MadTv. I remember cracking up when I saw it.
I forgot all about these Nissan ads. And the Asian dude at the end. I totally forgot he was in all the Nissan ads. What was his role in the ads again ?
It WAS MadTV. They did great stuff with those commercial parodies. I don't know what that Asian guy was doing; it never made a lick of sense to me so I just ignored him. That's probably why you forgot about him, too.
ya i actually remember this one! i remember the funny japanese man Lol dude 90s commercials were bomb dude too bad they don't make 'em like that anymore, same goes with the cars.
This commercial is awesome. Not only a great concept, but so many great touches: e.g. smacking the dinosaur, the cool way he punches the power button to start the car, the look on his face when he scares the cat, the way he skids sideways at Barbie's crib, and of course the forlorn look of Ken with his wussy outfit. But the best part is how Preppie barbie all of a sudden gets all tarted up with the hair and mini-skirt and rides down the Barbie elevator. Hilarious.
I never thought about that part before now. I mean, the GI Joe doll (or whatever one it is) is your typical bad boy: checking his hair, driving the cool car recklessly, whistling for the girl instead of ringing the doorbell like a gentleman. But what really pleases is the bad girl Barbie is underneath the prep wear. Thanks for pointing that out.
My now ex wife hated this commercial, when it would come on the kids would yell throughout the house "Daddy your car is on tv," and she would always say " that's your fantasy," It wasn't but the car was. Best car I ever owned by far even to this day. Thanks for posting this high quality version.
Look out, kitty! Oops, roadkill! Poor Ken. Well, he was way too fruity for Barbie anyway. Hey, where can I see the MadTV parody of this, the one where Barbie drove off with a girl on a motorcycle?
Ditto! This was such a terrific commercial. Even if I never bought a car in my life, I'd remember what a terrific concept this was. Truly one of the original commercials out there.
I loved the way he hit the dinosaur in the face as to almost say "get off me man!" Of corse this type of child like imagination is probably why my GI Joe...w/his damned kung fu grip...ended up in fragments in my backyard. It would take an archelogical dig to find him now.
This IS THE ALL-TIME FAVORITE commercial of mine!!! How we should all live! As I say " Every day you live is one less day that you will be able to live - SEIZE THE PRESENT MOMENT!!!"
My fav commercial of all times. This commercial came out the last year of production for the 300Z. As well as a large sum of money, they gave Eddie Vanhalen the last 300Z off the producton line. He actually gave it to his mom.
Damn yuppies.

The actor at the end is Dale Ishimoto. His
portrayal of Mr.K in the Nissan comericals
was incredibly popular. I thought he was
cool, plus he was Asian and gave the Nissan
brand a refreshing look. Dale Ishimoto passed
away in 2004. It would be great if they brought the Mr K mascot back for the 370z.
