There were definitely some good concepts in this movie, and yes it was much more interesting than most of Hollywood's output, but the script needed a LOT more work and most of the jokes fell flat because they tried too hard to make it funny. No disrespect to the Brothers Drake, but there have been much more interesting and effective satires produced of the corporate world. The Drakes definitely have some promise, but this movie wasn't as great as the comments below would have you believe.

@GBart totally - its the same over here in the uk - we used to have a good channel here (called channel 4), which used to show really good films, foreign movies, anime, cult sci-fi, independent and small budget films and even had the best news show. Now since the inception of 'big brother', and despite dwindling viewing figures of this mind numbingly shit program, channel 4 really went to pieces - they insist on repeating this same 'electric valium' every year. thumbs very much down for c4 :)

Whilst I agree with you that Synecdoche, NY is a great film, I think either you need to give this film another look, or maybe your life is such that this film doesn't have much meaning. I do think it's one that not everyone can "get", another reason it should be considered great.

1) This appears an interesting film. I have 0 idea where it is headed, but I do enjoy artistic films.

2) I'm wondering how they financed this.

3) The styling (room layout, hair/makeup, etc.) is lovely.

4) Zach must have had a hand in the scripting, as I have seen him do jokes where he plays with word pronunciation a la "chaos" @ 6:02.

5) The girl is kinda cute. Have to learn her name.

These are all pre-research observations. Do comment if anyone has add'l insight, thoughts.
