@marycory8788 Not 'goth' gothic. Think more along the lines of the classic painting. A small corner of Americana, the little piece of land that each farmer can live out their dreams on, and raise a family. Although I did see quite a hard attempt to try and add a goth bent to it all!
@marycory8788 lol. Are you trolling!? Heres some logic for you to chew on Mary. Definitions of Gothic that this show relates veers towards: Of or pertaining to a style of architecture with pointed arches, steep roofs, windows large in proportion to the wall spaces, and, generally, great height in proportion to the other dimensions prevalent in Western Europe.as if belonging to the Middle Ages; old-fashioned and unenlightened etc. Think before you type. Thanks.
@LFiers i know all that trust me but i will look over it again to see what all this show does pertain to. and this is cory. so you know who your talking to
@LFiers no i am not trolling but i stand by what i said this show has nothing to do with Any Gothic culture, architecture or art. Or even modern day Gothic. Nothing from the dark ages about the Gothic clans of barbaric Germany. Its is basically just going to be a crappy acting horror show witch unfortunately is a dime a dozen on sci fi. Learning history goes a long way.
@marycory8788 This is not from the History Channel. Its a gothic fiction themed show depicting a battle of good & evil at it's heart. It's not about you goth people. "Its is basically just going to be a crappy acting horror show" Going to be? Really? So you haven't even seen it from start to finish? Book by it's cover & all that... The acting is well beyond most of what you see even these days & the show overall is brilliant. A cult classic. But your obviously looking for a documentary. Thanks.
I had a dream once that they continued this show in present days. All the characters were older of course but it seemed so real. They all looked like they did in real life nowadays, then to my disappointment, I woke up and realized it wasn't real :(
@Raela1916 What's HMV? They had one copy left at Best Buy, but I was unemployed at the time and couldn't see dropping the $150 USD they were asking for it.
@blacksdocrack Yep! He is an under rated actor imo. Amazing actor as a kid and I believe with a hearty script these days, he could really tear it apart. He was awesome in Jarhead too.
@pikey1235 try Hulu or Fancast. If you have comcast ( or now they call themselves Xfinity, it is on Xfinity, saw the whole series not to long ago on xfinity. or if you want to buy it, go to amazon,,buy the UK version if possible.
@pikey1235 You should just buy it man. Its not expensive. Just make sure you get the proper track listing because the excecutives even screwed up the DVD orders of the episodes. (It got cancelled for the reason because CBS aired them out of order and even omitted 4 episodes which just confused people. CBS were idiots as were Universal.
@birdhaldol I'm from Alabama. My family is from all over the south. Heat of the Night does have some aweful ones, but I will say definately not the worsts one I've heard by far. So my statement was a bit of an overstatement but anytime it sounds like they're 'trying' to have an accent...that's just bad.
@KronantheBarbarian I actually love the accents in this. Calebs, Sherrif Bucks etc. It just sounds so cool. Especially Merly-Anns (can't remember how its spelt) accents. When I hear it many other movies, it doesnt sound as good as in this so as you say, others may be over doing it? I dont know. I love the accents in this.
@rockabillychickee Make sure you have the correct track listing. Them excecutives treated this like crap and messed the orders up both on air and on DVD. You can find the proper order on the internet. I think IMDB has them.
I was born in '91 so this was around that time or maybe a bit later on...when i did start watching it, it was on chiller but they were re-runs...does anyone know how many episodes it was and where can i get all the episodes?
@RaineVengeance It was made 95-96. There are 22 episodes and you could try ebay for now. Also make sure you get the proper tracklisting because them idiots at Universal ruined the track order even on the DVD.
Way ahead of its time. If AG had been created now, it would be mega successful.
It starts as a tale of Good vs Evil, but it quickly gets nuanced in shades of gray. It would have been easy to identify with Caleb, the innocent.
Yet Evil becomes the true protagonist. Not only Sheriff Buck is the drive of the show, I challenge anyone not to like him. The main character is bad. And everyone loves him. Kudos to the writers and to Gary Cole who created one of the most memorable TC characters ever.
@Salmakia77 Fantastic to know so many people feel the as me about this show. You've just repeated what I've been saying to people for a long time. It was ahead of its time. The excecs were apparently scared of it and on purpose or not, they killed it off by airing it out of order and even failing to air 4 episodes including airing the final episode before the season was over in some places. Even though it rated very well, they were scared that a villian could also be loved the way Buck was.
Best show ever. I taped every episode and watch it till today. I have always wondered something. On this trailer, at the 27 sec there is a scene of a woman in red, I believe it is Selena....but I have never seen this scene on any of the episodes. Does anyone know where it is from?
@vick222 Its on there. I remember it but fail to recall what episode its from. Just make sure you get the proper tracklisting because the DVDs are out of order of episdes and when they first aired it, they failed to air 4 episodes. That could have been one of the ones you missed. I urge you get it on DVD but make sure you watch them in order. Thanks.
@sissors66 Yeah I know. Unbelievable hey? First CBS ruins in on tv (some say it was in an attempt to kill it because its not what they were looking for at the time even thiough the rating originally through the roof) and then Universal gives it one fnal stab 10 or so years later with the DVD release we were all waiting for. What a joke.
Shame there are so many formulaic shows that seem to last so long, yet a gem like this was a part of our culture for so brief a time. All the more reason, then, to treasure what was put out there. Thanks for posting.
Had it been given a chance, this show could've been to the late '90s what True Blood is to the current era. Ok, it's not as hardcore as TB, since that's on HBO - AG was on CBS - but it had a similar feel: small town intrigue, fascinating characters, and a supernatural twist. It was unusually 'dark' for a network show, e.g. I didn't feel they tried to make Lucas (Gary Cole) overly likeable, just showed him as he is.
@2009alliec Last episode is called "Requiem". Make sure you're watching them on order because it was aired out of order and even put to DVD out of order unbelievably.
THIS SHOW IS THE GREATEST EVER! Dump people just don't get it but it or some shit! Sherrif Buck rocks! Best ever! So does that cool little Caleb kid. Nice upload bro!
One of the al time best shows to be killed off way before it should have been. I really love this show, Sad the good ones are taken off and the usually keep the crap.
man i used to watch this show when i was 5-6 at my grandpa and grandmas house and it used to scare the shit outta me, but i had a hard time remembering it and what it was a bout, i do remember somewhat that he had a dead sister that he could communicate to i think? but man this brings back memories, and hey look, sheriff buck is the guy from pineapple express lmao
Omg I was the same age when I saw it!!! It was my favorite show, and it scared me as well XDD... I had been searching for it for years...I could never remember what it was called, and all I remembered about it was the scene where she turns the river to blood.... and after 15 years I finally found it again today XD
