  • and,OF COURSE,Handcuffs weren't necessary.......RIP to Peter Falk

  • Lee grant was a kind of US tank in world war 2. It was unusual in that it had two guns - one on the turret that could swivel and one in the side that was only an up and downy one. But if I was to make love to a 'Lee Grant' it would have to be the actress version.

  • Sometimes I wish I was gay and married to Columbo - he was such a handsome charming fella !

  • Lt. Columbo is gone with his shopworn bag of tricks, his humility, the seeming absentmindedness, the homey anecdotes about the family, the wife, fumbling and stumbing along.. RIP dear old man.

  • The character that Peter Falk created was a cop I only dream we had in our real police departments. Not the way he tricked criminals - that only works on TV - but just the kind way he treated people.

  • Today Peter Falk died at 83... Just One More Thing ...This is my favorite episode with beautiful actress Lee Grant.....RIP Peter Falk alias "Columbo"

  • what does vaudeville mean?

  • In March 2011 is 40 years since the launch of first episode on 1st March 1971...This episode is my favorite due to beautiful actress Lee Grant...She is best actress of Columbo in 1970s

  • The Columbo series would not be successful if aired now on television. The reason or reasons? The actors are mature people with a lot of experience. The writing was done by mature and experienced people. Directors, music, sound, ditto... I offer the abomination of Hawaii Five-O, 2010 edition, as an example of the garbage now offered. Mid-twenty types masquerading as mature characters. Sound effects...whoosh, swoosh, etc...replacing plot and dialogue.

  • Can I strongly recommend you buy the Columbo series 1 at £10.79 which features Lee Grant in one of the bonus episodes RANSOM FOR A DEAD MAN, .

I’ve lost count of how many times I watched this because of Lee Grant. Every time I watch her performance I see something new, subtle gestures and nuanced expressions.

My favourtie scene is when she takes Columbo up in her plane. She is charming and clever...and Columbo only get the better of her in the last scene. I only wish I could help her.

  • Nice scene. Shame the audio quality is so bad though.

  • Poor Peter Falk has Alzheimer's now.

  • @minutemanIV

Yes,sadly P.Falk has this disease since 2008, he doesn't even recognize this famous character Columbo

  • Wow! I like Lee Grant! Very beautiful and sexy woman in 1971 then she was 44 yo....Best episode!!!

  • @DayMatrix99 Yes, she was 44 when this episode was made. What a beautiful 44 year old redhead. This is my favourite episode, and it happens to be the pilot episode, if you don't count the Columbo made-for-TV-movie made in 1968 as an episode.

  • I loved her as a kid, still do now.

  • What a terrible quality!

  • Lee Grant made every film that little more classier, especially Airport 77

  • She was a total siren in the 70s. I never knew she was around 50 at that time.

  • He never put cuffs on them...

  • He doesn,t even carry them, or a gun for that matter ;-)

  • Answering the multiple inquiries, I have to say that in the background somebody was watching Pokemon, :)...

  • hahahahaha! WTF is happening in the background?

  • sexy very sexy lee!!!

  • Man, what's with that crazy carpet colour?.

  • @Colddeed It was the 1970's.....all carpets were like that then 8-)

  • Love Columbo!

Ridiculous scene in which she takes him up in her plane and he takes the controls.

  • I've got all the episodes on DVD, and I watched this one today. It's a superb episode, and in my opinion better than the "other" pilot, "Prescription: Murder" from 1968. Lee Grant is a wonderful actress, and one of the most beautiful women in the world in my opinion.

  • I agree with you about it being a little better than the first pilot (which is also great). And I certainly agree with you about her.

  • Fantastic, episode...The subtitles made it fine for the clip. Thanks for posting.

  • My favorite one too-- Ransom For a Dead Man from 1971. While not visible in this video, what made her even yummier in it was that in the scene up to 1:10 she was wearing some incredibly hot black boots, almost as smoking as the thigh-highs she had on in Shampoo!

BTW, what is all that screaming in the background???

  • This is my fave Columbo and I'm a huge fan of Lee Grant. ;-)

Yes,she was beautiful and so wonderful in this movie.
