  • finally no more humans used as guinea pigs

  • when we Humans put the guns and Racism away.. we would reach another Sunsystem... thats my mind.

  • morzMOV - Atlantis Part I & II

  • breathtaking so sick

  • a cosmonaut disliked this

  • @Deadfox7777 No, your mum disliked it.

  • Hubble is one of the best thing theses shuttles have done.

  • So this is the last launch of US space shuttle Atlantis. No more launch because USA is broke due to budget crisis 2011. lol

  • @TheIxtlan lol

  • Atlantis finally lifts off for its final journey

    details at

    webfuzonDOTnet

  • Great video, thanks for posting it!!!!

  • good nigth

  • The greatest wisdom is inside each and every one of us. The ability to see the entire cosmos and everything about creation therefore these works are a waste of time and money. NASA hides 90% of the findings that are truly important to us, it has been proven many times and therefore they are thieves who should be charged with the biggest fraud and for lying and withholding valuable information.

  • The end of an error, a wasteful one. But it did bring amazing accomplishments

  • now we're beholden to the Russians to get into space.....ANOTHER CHAPTER IN AMERICA'S DECLINE

  • Thank you N.A.S.A

  • Space shuttle has been failure, 1 to 2 space shuttles were to be launched each week & yet only 1 shuttle was launched in 3 months. 4,000 dollars was supposed to cost per each kilogram of weight taken to space & et 64,000 dollars was the cost of taking kilogram of weight into space.

  • I'm Chloe btw lol

  • I am gonna miss this so much! I really wanted to be an astronsught

  • Everything comes at a price. There is no free lunch. For sure that the space shuttle mission has paid a huge price but the wealth of knowledge that it has brought to man kind is unprecedented. Mankind without knowledge is even worse than any other creation that exists. Salutes to those who contributed to the space shuttle mission. May god bless the soul of lives lost for such a high and noble cause.

  • To say the shuttle was a disaster means you are simply ignorant, quite sad. Unfortunately space exploration is somewhat bleak now, all we will have is private companies sending supplies into low earth orbit. It's quite sad that man hasn't left LEO since apollo

  • Cost of building Atlantis orbiter = $1.7 billion

Cost of average launch, just the launch mind you = $450 million.

Average cost for a complete mission, not including building the orbiter just operating the complete STS mission = $1.5 billion per mission.

  • @NoharaLoco $1.5 billion to perform science experiments in space? That opportunity is priceless IMO.

  • @NoharaLoco

The return on these space missions is incalculable; we know more about our earth, the solar system, and the creation of the universe than ever before because we chose to make these kinds of financial investments.

Btw, and just for comparison, the cost of the wars we've "invested" in overseas: $2.7 trillion.

  • Seeing as how a single Space Shuttle costs about $1 billion dollars, and a launch averages over $400 million dollars, it seems like you may be underestimating the total cost.

  • Hey hey!!!.....We can now get a trip into orbit on Sir Richard Bransons plane..... For only 200k.... So cheer up kids!!!!

  • Finally the curtains have come down to the space shuttle but we all will never forget to all those who had done a tremendous task in making these missions successful, without even bothering about their lives.

May God bless the departed souls and all those behind the scenes who left no stone unturned in making the missions successful...

  • It is sad that the shuttle never fulfilled the dream of low cost access to space. In the end it must have been costing more than a conventional rocket to launch. With not way of escape for the crew if things went wrong it was a death trap.

NASA forecasts back in the late 70s that 1 in 30 missions would fail were eerily accurate and I pray todays last mission 132 goes well.

Farewell space shuttle but I do not lament your passing.

  • Its the end of an era for the Space Shuttle its truly been one of kind spacecraft that will never see again only in documented pictures and videos.

    Hail Atlantis STS-135

  • Wow, great video. I have grown up with the Shuttle program since the early 80's. This video brought tears to my eyes. I look forward to the final mission in the coming days and bgin the stories with my two year old son, who will never experience this legacy. Sad days ahead, but a bright future is hopeful.

  • @cblord5 Same here I had tears when Colombia broke up it was wrong, they only had a few more thoaunds miles to go and it was cut short…

I've been watching the launches on TV since Colombia's first flight and other launches on TV buy NASA TV has better coverage with a front row seat for everyone too enjoy.

  • And I will be there Friday God willing!

  • weiner

  • The Space Shuttle was a disaster.

    Dangerous, extremely expensive.

It is an impressive machine. But it failed to deliver on almost every goal set for the program.

But with the rise of private space companies, the future is brighter than ever.

  • @tobigforyou I don't think you quite understand the overall danger of going to space. It's not that the shuttle itself was dangerous, it's that the trip is dangerous. As far as space flight is considered, this is about as early on in technology as you can get (short of earlier model rockets). Thinking about cars sixty years ago makes me wonder where we'll be in space travel in sixty years.

  • @JeffreyOsb Space flight is dangerous, but the shuttle is even more so.

Unlike the previous launch vehicles before it, the space shuttle has NO launch abort.

Each launch costs more than $1 Billion dollars..

Whereas SpaceX can but twice as much payload into LEO for $125 million.

And they can put 50% more payload than a Saturn V for $300 million.

NASA should just focus on building exploration vehicles that will take astronauts into deep space.

And let private companies build the launch vehicles.

  • @tobigforyou "the space shuttle has NO launch abort." Not according to the video from 1:40 to 1:55.

  • @DOHC2L The Shuttle has pad abort(which means, if it didn't take off you can shut the engines down.

But if that baby lifts off, only God can stop it.......no launch escape.

You know that tower on top of the Apollo rocket? That's launch escape.

The simplest of manned rockets have them. But not the shuttle.

  • @tobigforyou

I remember the Mercury and Gemini missions but question now the justification of sending humans into space at all. I believe technology is rapidly reaching the point where remote equipment can do almost anything a man can do and there is no worry about bringing them back alive. Even the ISS has had its day, there is only so much science they can do and it is only there for political reasons.

  • @tobigforyou how can you say that when medicine has accomplished so much from it? And where companies could develop artificial limbs base on space discoveries?

  • nicely done
