I am not only like American pie, Vincent, but I love Aftermath, till' tomorrow, Everybody loves me baby, fool's paradise, La La love you......etc. Don McLean, I love not only the famous one, all the songs are influential!!!! Even I am young and from the other country, your songs are part of the life!

The song "Vincent" really touched me.
I get, almost angry. My generation, the generation of today, feed of cover versions and one off "talent" show hacks who never feel what they sing let alone have the ability to pen a song from their heart.
I don't pretend that any song ever written was not for a commerical reason but I do feel that with singers like Mclean it was NEVER to main reason. It was the expression that mattered.
Just like "Piano Man" with Billy Joel I think.

Don Mclean played Castlebar last October and it was a fabulous night..what a great musican..he played the Mountains of Mourne and it was very emotional...lovely man..
