Magpie was ITV's version of Blue Peter (dunno if that was in Aus either) lets just say it was crap, I'm starting to agree with you that maybe Mc Coys titles were not the worst, I dont like the "Doctor Who" logo much at the end, I threw a couple of the older Dr theme tunes at this sequence and they didn't work at all. You may wonder why I've put all these on You tube, well it's just for my web site, You tube plays them better than my site does, so sorry if they are pants.
Surprisingly I find Tom Baker's tunnel sequence the most boring and followed by the current theme. Lots of stuff happens in the McCoy theme so it keeps me entertained. It would of done better with better music. I've never heard of Magpie. Not sure if they showed it here in Australia and back then the regional stations where I lived didn't show what the big networks showed.
I love the Tomorrow People theme. I think it's the second best TV music ever!!! I reckon this would look better over one of the first three (howlaround) title sequences.
Yes I think your right on both counts, I think the Mc Coy titles are just about the worst, but I found a copy on here first and just stuck to it for continuity, as for the Tomorrow People, as I remember as a kid I never watched or got into the series, but loved to watch the titles, coming to think of it that was about the same time as Magpie was on, I hated that and the theme.
