I drive a 10 year old Sequoia Limited. We take multiweek road trips pulling a camper (family of 7). We love this suv. It is very manuverable, comfortable, excellent handling - it navigates sheer ice, deep snow (in canada), gravel, uneven surfaces, and higherspeed interstates with ease. I am comparing it to the Suberban we used to drive - the Suberban had more interior space but in most every other way the Sequoia is a better fit for our family's travel needs.

my mom has this and my dad has a gmc yukon. the toyotas 08 and the gmcs 09. the leather in the sequoia is so much nicer and comftorable. my dad drives the sequoia every chance he gets to. great car
The Sequoia has cheap plastic panels inside that scratch up very easily. Just by brushing up against the door with your clothes you'll create noticable scratches. When getting out from the vehicle, if your shoe even gently touches the bottom extruded panel of the door, it will mark, guaranteed. ALL NEW SEQUOIAS have this problem, and it makes a new interior look old very fast. I don't know what Toyota was thinking when they used this cheap plastic. Actually, I think I do know...

Funny. They sold the Land Cruiser in Canada when I lived there, but according to their website, you are correct. The Land Cruiser is essentially a Lexus LX 570. It has a wheel base close to a foot shorter than the Sequoia and is really on the upper end of the midsize SUV class. Nice machine, but not worth what Toyota wants for one. You could buy a Sequoia and a Jeep Wrangler for about the same money and if you have a trail mishap, the Jeep goes back on the trailer and you can still get home.

I've test-driven both the Sequoia and LC, and I have to say LC feels more luxurious and has a more comfortable drive. It's astonishing that despite it's smaller frame than Sequoia, it can tow just as much weight as a Sequoia/Tundra, approx. 10,000 tons.
It makes sense that both can tow 10,000 pounds since they both use the same basic drivetrain. I just bought a 2008 Sequoia Limited and it is pretty comfortable. I dan't see spending another $20,000 for a LC. Even if it is a little more fancy, the draw for the LC has always been off-road ability. Who takes a $75,000 truck off-road?
I don't expect any full size SUV to be exceptional off-road.
The Sequoia is built on the Tundra frame (supplied by Dana I believe), so I would think that it is pretty sturdy. It is sprung for comfort on the highway and really not expected to see more off-road than logging roads.
The wife has a Nissan Xterra and I must admit that it seems to do well in most conditions. I would also feel a lot more comfortable taking a vehicle with an Xterra price tag in harms way than a Range Rover.

Well, the Tundra was stupidly designed with TripleTech frame. To be honest, Japanese 4x4 vehicles Nissan Patrol, Toyota Land Cruiser, & Mitsubishi Pajero; & British Land Rovers have been using fully boxed frames long before Ford. In fact, Nissan Titan started the fully boxed frame of all fullsize pickups, & Ford was only inspired.
Why did the Patrol, Land Cruiser, Pajero, & Land Rovers become legends? Fully boxed offroad frame, proper transfer case rations, diff. locks, etc.

U.S. border patrol had ford expeditions a few yrs back but they didn't last. The now have chevy tahoes...a bit better but same outcome. They've told me the would die to have a vehicle like the Toyota Sequoia but its not in their budget.
I own a 2002 sequoia with 80,000 miles and not one problem with it. I take it off road and tow a 26 ft camper trailer as well. I just ordered the 2008 limited with the 5.6 liter engine for a bit more power and refinement...can't wait!

Land Cruiser is actually a luxury SUV, with excellent build quality and the best off-road capability on any SUV.
It is obviously more expensive than a Sequoia, since it is better in almost every aspect.

In the US (where most of the terrain is stable), it's ok to use a Sequoia.
But here in the Middle East, you will need a sturdier SUV:

13 MPG in the city. $50,000 for what? To outdo your neighbor's SUV? This vehicle was stupid when gas was between $2.00 to $3.00 a gallon. The people at Toyota have made an enormous mistake with this dinosaur.
Tell me that in 2008, Toyota isn't in bed with big oil when they put out an SUV that gets 13 MPG.

Fine piece of machine, but Toyota decided to go really big a little too late. With gas prices the way they are, automobiles will be going in the other direction. For some, this is not a problem. For most, this is no longer a wise economical choice.

Well, the Tundra was stupidly designed with TripleTech frame. To be honest, Japanese 4x4 vehicles Nissan Patrol, Toyota Land Cruiser, & Mitsubishi Pajero; & British Land Rovers have been using fully boxed frames long before Ford. In fact, Nissan Titan started the fully boxed frame of all fullsize pickups, & Ford was only inspired.
Why did the Patrol, Land Cruiser, Pajero, & Land Rovers become legends? Fully boxed offroad frame, proper transfer case rations, diff. locks, etc.

The fact is that the Jap truck is better than GM, Chrysler or Ford trucks because that's what they what to make. The fat cats at these companies don't want to make a truck too good because they want to maximize profits. They blame their poor quality on labor not the engineered design. You can still make good stuff in the USA by Americans proof being the Jap factories that assemble the sequoia and tundra and the Benz factories that assemble the GL, RL and ML, but only if the execs wanted to.

The 08 Sequoias are actually bigger than the tahoe. About the same size as an expedition but with more interior room.

this car is almost the largest suv every made and i have a 2003 toyota sequoia that is the same size as the 2007 escalade so the sequoia is bigger than the escalade n my 03 cost more the escalade it came to be $60,000 because i but life track so that means in order 2 start it u have 2 but a code in so if someone trys to steal it da police can easily track it n bring it back to me n if u put in da wrong code it wont start and it has a decent v8 engine 4.7 liters 271 hp

U.S. border patrol had ford expeditions a few yrs back but they didn't last. The now have chevy tahoes...a bit better but same outcome. They've told me the would die to have a vehicle like the Toyota Sequoia but its not in their budget.

I own a 2002 sequoia with 80,000 miles and not one problem with it. I take it off road and tow a 26 ft camper trailer as well. I just ordered the 2008 limited with the 5.6 liter engine for a bit more power and refinement...can't wait!

Who said GMs can't run longer then 4 years. Hahaha Bullshit!! I have had mine since 97 and it is still running strong at over 250k miles. My buddy bought a brand new 4runner a few years back and it seems like it was in the shop more then it wasnt. I talked him into buying a Tahoe last year and he loves it. o and by the way I feel so bad for some1 who would rather buy a Sequoia over an Escalade. They must not get out to much. Maybe they need to get off the computer for a little bit...

probably a 4 or 6 cylinder... but ive never seen a toyota v8 with more than 250k miles and still runnig good only a gm (chevy, gmc, cadillac) but gm really does suck for 4 and 6 cylinder

nice looking truck.Toyota stole the power fold flat third row seat from Ford Expedition/Navigator.but the big motor/and six speed transmission is far superior to the Expedition/Lincoln Navigator.
