I have a pontiac 400 in my chevy nova and it runs fine, the only advantage i see to having a chevy small block is they are lighter about 100 lbs i believe , and parts are much cheaper, It will cost me almost 2 k for a pair of alum heads for the pontiac but only 1 k for chevy.
That 502 has got to cost at least 10K by itself and a good blower is right around 6K. For that kind of money you could have a Pontiac 535 from butler. The 535 puts down 750+ hp and nearly 800 tq. And that is naturally aspirated. You are going to get 800 hp at the absolute best with the blown 502. Or you could have a blown 462 for much less than the 502 or 535. The Pontiac engine was designed for abuse, much more stout than a chevy. Pontiac's engine design focused on usable power,
What concerns me is that the Pontiac engine design is superior to the chevy design and a chevy engine does not belong in a Pontiac. It is the same as buying a ferrari and putting in a fiat engine. I don't care about numbers matching. I just don't see why you would rather ruin a Pontiac when you could have bought a chevy instead. It is hard enough for REAL Pontiac enthusiasts to find a GTO, don't make it harder.
If you dont mind me asking, how much to build and how many horses when done?? Have a 69 Goat with a 455 I want to build up. But looking at putting a paxton supercharger on her. All underhood.
nice sounding engine. i have a 1965 gto 428 4bolt main block stroked out to 469. it put out 608hp 585ft of torque. we are having a problem with having to adjust the valves often think the cam is going flat. good luck with your new toy!

@mercmarc Yea but you will not get the same amount of torque with a small block chevy. Pontiacs are torque monsters.

Sounds Sick. i got a 65 with a 68 400 going to put a chevy 502 blown in it soon and stroke it to 540. brackets for it is gonna be a bitch
