Why do you need to practice martial arts to learn things like philosophy, discipline and self control?! You don't need to practice martial arts to learn those things, they're VALUES! You don't need years of practice and training to learn VALUES.
it take 2 Shorin ryu karateka to guard the okinawan emperor against the samurai batallion.. SHorin ryu for me is the most beautiful karate..Osu evryone!

Nearly a year and a half, you say you were a brown belt and has not served you? You're an idiot, the belt does not say anything, the experience is worth it. I am a third Dan and I recommend one thing, do not mess with me or you'll end badly. One more thing, the Japanese karate is useless, the original is the Okinawan
Or if you would like, I have some good advise for you, walk into any Kyokushin-kai or Oyama offshoot dojo, wear your sandan belt, and speak that way, telling them that you can kick some brown belt's ass? They will give you that opportunity, I promise you; OSU! ROFLMAO!
@kitsune2323 You're right about one thing, I went with my feelings. But 14 years of training are not in vain, I do not practice cheap exhibitionism Who I see in the U.S. for example. But it bothers me that people talk without knowing. Konichiwa
are u really taking shorin ryu tehnique? or maybe u are sleeping in the class. tell ure sensie to teach u combat tech nique in shorin ryu karate not only a sport karate. i dont believe f u cud not defend urself. or maybe ur coward.
I am sorry you were bullied. I have been a shorin ryu practitioner for almost 20 years. It has given me a wonderful base. I love it. But, it is not for everyone. A true martial artist will go out and seek to fill in the gaps that she or he has. Maybe Shorin Ryu was 'crap' for you, but do not discount an entire art that is hundreds of years old based on a relativly short training period with, what may have been, a sup-par instructor. I wish you luck on your future training.
ive been studing the ryu for 24 years now and i fight in muay thai and mma ill tell you what the stances alone do more damage to my apponents than most peoples fists...
shorin ryu is crap??...damn...have you ever understand what is the meaning of practicing karate??..its self discipline and self control...if you want to fight why study karate??...you should buy a gun or something...fango
if you dont appreciate shorin-ryu then you must shut up. you dont understand everything about it so why do you have to leave a comment under estimating the will and knowledge of a shorin-ryu karateka. the word 'crap' is just for you who didnt understand.
@serpentphoenix Shorin Ryu in the United States is taught as sport combat. Kyokushinkai is full contact, and Muay Thai? Do you mean the bastardized United States "kickboxing" or actual Thai sports boxing?
omg i have to thank you for this post....i know from personal experience that its hard to listen to the legend that is Shoshin Nagamine and only be able to see him in action through simple pictures.....honestly its been one of my dreams to see Nagamine Sensei in true form.....THANKS!!!! XD
Force comes from the hips regardless of where the target is or where the hand comes from. It's pretty clear to me that he projects force from the hips. On another note, I'm a Shorin Ryu black belt but I dissagree with your characterization of TKD or any other legitimate art. Don't make us Okinawan karate artists look bad by badmouthing other styles. It shows lack or respect and therefore lack of maturity as a martial artist.
This is the real stuff here. Most people don't take appreciation of a traditional okinawan form, and go off and do thier little tae kwan do crap in a fight and get whooped. Take out that laim ass music and you got your self a nice video.
kata should be far from boring, an opportunity to express passion and love for life. Those that miss this are missing the true essence of martial arts.
If kata is boring your not doing kata. Your dancing. Put some intention and visualization into it, work on the practicality of the movements instead of brushing it away as something thats just a part of it.
WHATS THIS KATA?????

Do you know of any relations to an earlier style called Soryu Karate? Michio Koyasu was under Kenken Toyama. Any idea of the roots?

east asian languages are interesting... shorin, shaolin, and sil lum all mean the same thing (japanese, mandarin, and cantonese i think)

What kind of stance was that at 24 seconds???
Assassin824 2 years ago
the stance is Naiahnchi- Dachi.
CodyAllenmusic 2 years ago
Stance at 0:24 is actually jigotai-dachi, per Matsubayashi terminology. Similar to shiko-dachi, but not as low.

Wow! he actually did part of the first kata! It's always amazing to see how differently he performs the same movements I'm using.

Question:
Would you say what you just said in the comment to him in a dojo setting?
Please try to act like a third Dan.

Where can I buy one? Do i just go to the martialarm website? it seems like a Shaolin Training Arm It will be good for jeet kune do and trapping hands

the only thing I dont like about this karate is that they punch from way up...we punch from our hips and i think it works better, but thats just me
great video anyway, nice to see some actual karate (unlike *cough tae kwon do, especially how its done now a days)
