No, it is a gas airsoft rifle firing 5.95mm 0.40g BB's. Made by Tanaka Works of Tokyo, Japan. This is the pre ban, PCS model, of the m40a1. Great for learning to handle a gun without the danger of a serious rifle.
@phantomTMA yeh haha i finally figured that out when i saw the holes in the targets :P thanks for responding do i play airsoft my self but i didn't know they made gas airsoft sniper rifles i though they only made springs (O_o)
i dont know what your gun laws are in the area but i think you should teach them marksmanship with real firearms (at least the two older ones.) compared to airsoft guns, they will be able to put shots on a dime at 50 yards if they become proficient
Firearms are not easy to procure in the UK. Although the eldest has used SA80 and .22 bolt action in his cadet forces training. I will take them to use my nice accurate air rifle (sharp innova) sometime for a better shooting experience. Airsoft guns are handy to teach the basics of gun safety and handling while moving towards a "hunteering" perspective of their application (ie. a contact sport).
@phantomTMA how is it with the area u are allowed to shoot in? here in Germany it has to be Private Property and a fence around the area -_- so its hard to find a place to hunteer...
The hop up system, puts back spin on the pellet. If you tilt the gun to the right, the pellet will have up and right hand spin, causing it to fly to the right. The more you tilt it the more side spin and curve you will get. Many people do not set their guns cross hair level and wonder why the pellets always curve to the same side.
If it is windy, from the right, the right hand spin will fight the crosswind and miraculously keep the pellet going straight. Try it.
This TW M40 of yours, is this the one at 550FPS on 0.2g. Regardless can you give me the effective range of a one shot kill on a human sized target so I can work out what it should be for my marui VSR. That would be great. keep the vids comin'!
Yes, this rifle is set up around 550fps. It won't kill anyone lol but you can hit a target (that doesn't dodge) at around 75m as you will see in one of our other films. After that requires more skill and luck. Your VSR should be more consistant (as a spring rifle) and that really helps if you want to be pushing the boundaries of long range shooting.
0.30g STRAIGHTS are not good quality or consistant. They are obsolete and I think out of production. Invest in some better 0.30g or SGM or even heavier.
I have heard good reviews of it fitted in VSR based rifles but unsure if it would be poorer in the tanaka conversion (flat hop bar; not true V hop). The firefly is no good in a tanaka, but better than a nineball in the vsr IMO.
I am not a massive upgrade addict and buying new parts all the time. Instead, I am easily pleased with modern Airsoft performance; as I started playing when you could almost spit as far as guns shot. Once zeroed and happy stop tinkering, is my best advice.
@1999sniper you need to watch your mouth.. i mean come on his kides are great.. especialy the youngust, this is what i would do with my kids some day.. atleast his kids will not be on xbox all day like yours will/ or are
Hi, i have a TM VSR-10, but i dont know what scope should i buy and my VSR shoots 150m/s so what scope should be good and less than 100 dollars? And nice videos =)
nice phantom what gun is that and ibought the bar 10 took ur advise best gun ever but i am having trouble zeroing the scope would you think if you had time you could make a vid of how to zero in a scope properly all the other vids do not help at all my targets are measured at 145 ft
I found I needed to fit a firefly hard vsr rubber, to get enough lift for the 0.30g but my bar10 was second hand. Be sure to get the cross hair level with the reciever (scope rail). If the pellets curl to the left, then loosen the scope rings carefully, twist the scope till it is level; then carefully alternate which side of the rings you tighten. It takes time to get it level and is one of the key factors in accuracy imo with hop systems.
this is amazing, i like the way you share your love and knowledge for hunting with your sons... and even the little one got nice hits at quite a distance. but i have a question, i bought a L96 recently, is it smart to upgrade this or am i just wasting my money?
hey, is the TSD M700 good? Also, I can get it in Black, OD green, tan, or imitation wood. I don't want the wood so what will be a good color? I'll probably paint it soo.....
allthough you´re shooting with your kids, which I don´t really appreciate, I do like how you teach them how to handle the guns safely.
What I do appreciate alot is how you take time for your kids. You don´t see alot of fathers with extensive outdoor activities with there kids nowadays.
About the video itself, I really like it like all the others
Thanks. In the UK, these guns are pretty much designed for kids to use and it is not illegal for them to shoot, only own. This is only because of the new VCRB laws and until then any kid could go and buy airsoft.
I think it is important to have confidence in the outdoors and such activities encourage children to do more than just play computer games (a big problem here).
One of my sons shoots 5.56mm SA80a2 in the cadet forces and this is just good safe practice.
hey im new to airsoft i have 2 other guns and there both assault rifles but i wanted to start sniping, any guns you recommend??? i was looking at this JG ak svd dragonov, it looked pretty cool, only Electric AEG sniper i could fine
I would get a spring BAR10 or VSR10 or even the new spring dragonov. The JG dragonov is just an AEG after all and not upto the task you want it to do. Either that or just use your existing gun on semi auto and pick your shots (wait till people are close). Fieldcraft is more important than your gun. Without it, you will just end up in a firefight.
Absolutely brilliant! George makes me laugh the way he thinks out loud the whole way through. I recon their gonna make some fierce opponents in th coming years dude. 5 stars and roll on next weekend!
He wasn't thinking out loud dude; he was telling me which way the crosshair needed to move. He's too small to be able to get his right elbow on the ground. Therefore I had to hold the very rear of the stock and take his weight, while moving it the opposite direction to what he said. I also did my best to keep the reciever level. He concentrated on his eye relief and trigger control. It worked stupidly well and he scored 3 out of 3 on another comp at 60 yards with no practice shots!
That's great! It almost makes me cry... so sweet, cuz it shows, that there is a hope in young kids, that they are enjoy airsoft and hunting. I wish i could do things like that with my sons. :) Good hunting, and thanks for everything what you do. You've changed my point of view for airsoft sniper. Thanks.

There is one thing I always wondered about in your videos.
Is there a specific reason you´re using the PDI 605 barrels, instead of the tighter 601 ones?
1982Bux 2 years ago
Several reasons.
1. Look on the PDI XFIRE website and the 01 is noted for velocity and 05 for accuracy.
2. Much much cheaper.
3. At the time 555mm barrels were very hard to source and these were easy to get as no one bought them thinking ... tighter=better.
4. I don't follow the crowd.
