Don't buy these! If you have a wireless router or other wireless devices near by whether connected to it or not, these PX5s will cut in and out a lot and also effect the chat function also. Big disappointment. I recommend a wired headset. I use a turtles beach DSS 5.1 amp with some skull candy aviators, just saying :p

PEOPLE!! I had this headset a while ago and I was completely unimpressed with the PX5s. The bass lacked... ALOT (it is customisable, but it's a faf) and the setup was difficult. I got there eventually, but it took a while. There is no soft cushion inside the ear cups themselves... which I found almost annoying. I also experienced a few audio dropouts while gaming. That was REALLY annoying. The headband and surround sound I will give it praise for. My opinion, buy some PX21s. THUMBS UP

@itsrob3 no you don't need to be close at all the Bluetooth is separated from the docking stand so you can take this headset anywhere in the world and use them as regular headphones or headset.

please dont buy these i had the px21's and didnt like all the wires so got the px5 one's what a mistake yes they do lots of cool stuff but for sound quality andchat they are pants,all the presets are crap and when you have them up loud they distort,with the wired ones you can finely tune them easily whilst playing with these you cant and you hear you own voice on multiplayer all the time i have just sold them and got my money back trust me the wired ones are cheaper and much better

Even though Turtle Beaches are 7.1 dolby digital surround , you aren't hearing 7.1 surround b/c PS3 and Xbox 360 only support up to 5.1 surround (5 direction speakers and 1 subwoofer vs. 7 direction and one sub)… Also since there is only one speaker per ear, the headphones have to use digital surround, not true surround (same for Astro headsets) but it still has good directional sound. Trittons use 4 speakers per ear (better directional sound) but sacrifice audio quality due to small speakers.

@darkstar744 if you want the greatest possible sound, get the Astro A40's. Being a wired headset, you don't have as much freedom, but you get the better sound of the two. I own the px5, but i have used the A40s and although it not that huge of a difference between the sound quality, the A40s are clearly the winner in that department. I personally like the px5 because even though the sound quality is great but not the best, its got a lot of other cool multi-media functions that i enjoy.

@lamboracer22 if you havent heard it has chat boost so if a background sound boosts in sound the chat will boost with it meaning your friends will be heard easily and if you want you can turn that off or even more of a boost

@PsR3corder Hi, I owned the tritton ax pro and astro mix amp with an AD700 headset. In my opinion the astro mix amp produces better sound quality than the trittons. However, don't get the a40 set you should invest in just the mixamp along with separate headsets. Headsets like sennheiser 555 or ad700's are great along with the mix amp. I never listened to the px5 but I heard that they tend to cut out sound because it runs on a 2.4 ghz frequency while the astro mix amp runs on 5.8.

This works with both Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as any computer with bluetooth capabilities. It can also connect to a cell phone with bluetooth, I just got mine and its great, and since it uses AA batteries, you can easily find rechargeable batteries online to deal with the battery problems. The only downside is that you cannot create custom presets on a mac, please thumbs up because 90% of comments are asking these questions.
