666 or the mark of the beast refers to a 'mark' on the forehead or right hand that will be used as number control system by the antichrist so that no one would be able to buy or sell without it... and we are getting close to that as you may have heard of the 'real ID chip' implant if not look it up
The number of the beast refers to Nero in Hebrew alphanumerics. An alternative spelling of his name adds up to 616 which explains why it turned up in some texts. But the symbolism of the number goes well beyond that.

In fact "mark of beast" makes not sense in the context of Revelations, "mark of THE beast" might but that's 864 not 666. Of course there is no reason to believe that the bible refered to a number created by this code, particularly as Revelations was addressed to people who didn't speak let alone write english. It's a good thing the bible came in English and only one version of it exists that every Christian follows. 666 is not "mark of beast" it's the NUMBER of the beast, not the number of the mark of the beast. In fact "mark of beast" makes not sense in the context of Revelations, "mark of THE beast" might but that's 864 not 666. Of course there is no reason to believe that the bible refered to a number created by this code, particularly as Revelations was addressed to people who didn't speak let alone write english. They already had their own alphanumeric codes, why use one they couldn't know?

Wow you people are really smart. Did you all take stupid pills before watching this video? Lets just forget the fact that the ancient scrolls AKA the original Holy Bible was written in hebrew which has no direct alphabetical translation into enlglish. Don't get me wrong I'm a believer I just cant follow stupidity.Not to mention most scripture, when translated, is put in to laymans terms. Interesting - except that a recent translation of the original bible texts have thrown up a mistranslation - The number of the beast calculates (in the original text) as 619 not 666 - It's upset a lot of people, but facts are facts - we can't just pick and choose what fits our theories

This doesnt prove anything. using the model you used, can and will bring up 666 multiple times with multiple words, as using the 6 multiplacation table will ultimately bring up 666 every once in a while. What you need to do is use the hebraic alphabet, in which numeric values are given to each character of the alphabet. However, this is self generated mumbo jumbo, pseudo-proof.

It's a good thing the bible came in English and only one version of it exists that every Christian follows. It's also a great thing that you can prove a whole thing to be fact by proving a part of it to be true. For example, I know Santa Clause is real because the story involves children and they definitely exist!

Well, in all seriousness, I don't see how this proves anything. You assign each letter of the alphabet with a number, take a word, then take the numbers and add them up. Perhaps a good Math trick, but not much proof of anything in my opinion.

@Jononutoob Im not "religious" either, Id like to say I try to have a "relationship" with God because I believe in a God... the mark of the beast in the bible is talking about the future in prophecy, so you can only asume english is most widely used as it would have to make sence at the point in time that its relavent when its used.

Edward - Visited your blog and loved it! Alas, all talks of the absurdity and cruelty of religion is useless. I was raised an evangelical and learned (after arguing for years) that faith does not depend on logic or evidence. Church goers respond to errors/contradictions with, "Jesus lives in me".
I once thought all I had to do was cite Biblical or logic errors but faith does not need these. Would an all-loving, all-knowing god create billions of folks knowing 95% will go to hell?

This only works in English, try it with computer in Finnish. You'll get three possible translations: tietokone, which would add up to 618, laskin = 396, laskija = 378. For one example.
