I seriously think the tracks in Matterhorn should be replaced.. It's way to jerky. If it were a smoother ride it could go faster. I don't really care much about the cars though.

@Unleashed57 There are only 2 seats on each car, but you can choose to sit on a person's lap to have 4 people in a car. They don't make you lap seat or group you with a random person, it's usually for couples or parent and a child.

@Unleashed57 it's not really "lap sitting" since you don't actually sit on another person's lap. you sit tandem style, one in front of the other in the same bobsled. not much room to move if it's a tight fit. i always ask to ride single. more legroom,and no one pressing against the family jewels!

I just went yesterday and i saw the new bobslends in those handycap transfer tracks they looked cool but i only saw one pair of bobsleds they look a little different than these though but they sill have three seats per car and two cars attached together they were awsome.

Yes! There WILL be new cars! If you commonly visit (almost weekly!), you noticed Matterhorn was closed, again, after a refurb in December. My Uncle provided me this, but he has been working with his original post as animator at Pixar, and has know about this for quite awhile, just couldn't tell me! So that being, I hope he's right... my little brother, although shorter, ways a million pounds!

They don't need to take out the Matterhorn cars. You don't need to have lap sitting. Just ask one of the employees at the ride and say that you are a single rider.

The only reasons they are changing the cars is because the current ones are too hard on the track (Because of OSHA) and too many complaints from guests about the seating. The new cars have more space, a lot lighter and easier for people in wheelchairs to board.

2011 - Matterhorn w/ New Cars - In Development - (10/3/08) The latest rumor on the proposed new Matterhorn cars claims that any plans to retire the current trains in favor of a new fleet will have to wait until 2011 at this point, as it was not approved for the next years budget.

Well originally back in 1959, they DID look like bobsleds, in fact, it was just one car that only could fit like 2 ppl. But they changed it all around to where they started looking like mini-monorail carts XD

Some times, the fantasyland side breaks down. they will do the same thing sometimes for the fantasyland side if the tomorrowland side breaks down.

Because the slow side's queue extends into the parade route. Lately (due to crowding at the parks), instead of closing that side, the fast side's queue will feed both stations, with a greeter helping to split the groups between the sides.

The best WAS the original....each bobsled held up to 4 people (2 "lap" pairs). Later, attaching two bobsleds together increased capacity, but these days they often run only one side of the Matterhorn anyway. 1959 was the best. Yodel lay hee boo hoo weeeep!

Actually for space mountain they tore down the track and re built it with the same layout. They didnt just smooth it. But i agree, matterhorn is rough. But i love it how it is!

I am actually glad they're going through with this. Some people ride the Matterhorn Bobsleds for the wrong reasons ( I hope you know what I mean). Although it might be a good idea to smoothen out the track.
