personally I blame the scoring system & the rules. American rules favor the grappler. The fact that you can't kick a down opponent in the face & therefore have to get into punching distance which makes you easier to takedown sucks. I don't mind grappler's at all but boring fighters in my opinion are fighters that take the fight down & never pass guard, rarely throw any strikes & never go for any submissions. Same with stand up fights that involve no striking. Just my thoughts.
I as a fan enjoy MMA for everything it is, i even consider grappling to be very intense when you know how it feels to have your back against the mat, it's strategically intense but then i can understand my father, he isn't much into fighting sports but he does enjoy a good kick boxing match and MMA fights that involve strikers and his point is that striking is just much more enjoyable because, in a nutshell, it's enjoyable to watch violent behavior.

You should finish fights! Ko,submission or even a good split desicion. A fighter like Grey Maynard is shit! He doesn't deserve to 'fight', he just lays on his opponent. I'm not annoyed with the takedowns, it's the lay and pray tactic. At the minute it's ruining the sport. Winning by wrestling counts as half a win in my eyes.
A sweet submission move is....almost....as sweet as a brutal stand up knockout. The problem is the wrestlers who just try to control a guy round after round and dont take any chances trying to finish the fight. As you say, the boxing ring is that way....well, the wrestling ring is that way too...this isnt college wrestling its MMA. You should be at least...trying...to FINISH your opponent, not just pin him down. No offense, but there is DEFINATELY boring fighters.
ya u speaked the truth for shure i dont dispise wrestlers but gotta admitt theres some that i wouldnt pay to whatch tho but then again lets be honest u gotta learn ur takedown defense

And its pretty wrong how in the hardy gsp fight.. gsp got a lot of critism for not making it excited, while all hardy did was get taken down.. stay down.. and not tap
GSP, Jake Shields, & Jon Fitch get a bad rap as being boring, but they at least make an effort to finish their fights. GSP would have taken Hardy's arm home with him if it wasn't made of rubber. Shields got criticized for not being able to KO Dan Henderson with his G&P, even though Henderson's NEVER been KO'd! Fitch has made every one of his opponents (except GSP) look like amateurs.
Guys like Gray Maynard & Nik Lentz are the epitome of boring fighters.
what do you think about those wrestlers that will just clinch a guy up against the fence for 3 rounds straight? thats what happened in andre winners last fight. the wrestler just put him against the fence and held him there for 3rounds, no action.
MMA is forcing them to become better fighters, but Wrestlers arent evolving along with the fighters who are evolving. All they want to do is wrestle, no finishes just grinding out a decision using lay'n'pray.

@Randys138 so many people are saying " omg shogun is gonna smash him" ... your the first person to say he's gonna win and I agree , Shogun got taken down twice by Machida and his takedowns are trash haha. Rashad I honestly think will TKO him in the 4th after controlling him for 3 rounds.
The only person I'll take against Lesnar is Carwin.
Anderson will fight completely different in the rematch.
@xxhumblepiexx If you actually read my post I said I support wrestling by saying " wrestling dominating the UFC won't kill it" instead of jumping at me just read the posts. Some of my favourite fighters are wrestlers.
This is going to become a huge issue. I don't know what the answer is, but if all the UFC champion are wresters its going to kill the UFC. Here what the roster COULD look like in a year or so.
@Randys138 It won't kill UFC that's the thing. There'll always be 10x's more other fights then title fights. When I started watching the champs were: Tim Sylvia Liddel Silva had just won the belt Matt Hughes Sean Sherk That's right before it got huge. . If rashad beats Shogun Sonnen beats Silva and Maynard beats Edgar. then that will be 5/5 wrestling champions. With only two of them good enough on there feet to KO someone ( only one to actually KO)
@SxeScotty You bring up a good point about other fights; although I see a huge exodus of fighters in the next three years just based on age: Crocop Anderson Silva Penn Stevenson Sherk Florain Big Nogueria Mir Carwin (his like 35) Vera Liddell Griffin (maybe) Ortiz Franklin Rampage Wanderlei I mean the list goes on; if Strikeforce plays their cards right they can take a huge share of the market just by promoting young fighters.
Well agree or not wrestling alone is the most boring part of MMA. The most interesting and thrilling part is still boxing and striking. But I agree that a great MMA fighter need to have all these skills. Especially when the fight is on ground you just cannot deny the importance of wrestling. For me Jijutsu is far more effective, exciting and time saving. If you can mix wrestling skills with good ground & pound skills it may turn out a hell of a MMA fighter.
Well some fighters are definitely more exciting than other.
If you put two counter fighters in the octagon it will almost always become a "borring" fight but you just have to accept the fact that this is the way they win.
you know, i agree with what you are saying, but there are some boring fighters out there. JAKE SHIELDS
He fought a great wrestler in Hendo, but he layed and prayed all over the ring...Old rashad evans as well
The problem is not wrestlers being boring, its the wrestlers who have no subbs, or good G and P. They take you down and control you and get stood up over and over.
Let me say this that the UK fighters are complaining for no reason if they want to compete then learn to wrestle GSP didn't really have a wresling background (at least not to my knowledge) coming into MMA but he worked hard and he is now one of the best wrestlers in the sport so when I hear these guys complaining about wrestling I don't pay any attention to it if you don't know how to wrestle in this sport you deserve to lose.
the people who are complaining never watched boxing or tough-man contests or K-1. they found MMA because of its' huge push into the mainstream and now they want to turn it into an al out brawl....with no finesse or skill necessary.
If you want it like that then go to kickboxing or boxing you're in the wrong sport. That was a great point you had about it being the opponent but it is also some uneducated fans who might be new to the sport or they might not be new but they really don't understand the grapplng part of MMA or they just don't like the grappling aspect of MMA and to those fans just like the fighters should go to another combat sport. No there is no such thing as a boring fighter.
Having said what I wrote below I must say that when one man is able to take the other down frequently I want to see him do something other that eat up the clock while holding the guy down. I don't think the boredom is the result of one of the fighters, it usually take two to make a boring match.
Anyway you look at it you got to study grappling if you want to me a Mixed martial artist. If you studied fencing in 16th cent. France, You started with grappling, not the sword. He who fell lost
Boxing and k9ick boxing are still around and big in Europe. You can't change the rules, turn MMA into a stand up competition to please one group or variety of fighters. They need to do what Bisping has done, learn to defend take down and fight off the cage.
Some lay a pray wrestlers do bore the hell out of me. But lay and pray is Not what most MMA fighters with a wrestling back ground do. Also, sometimes it looks like that if the bottom guy has good defense and the top can't pound well.
I am so glad you brought this up. I am so tired of people bringing up this blanket bullshit and everything. Wrestling is hard as hell and people do not seem to understand that. Much respect to people like GSP and Edgar.
oh NO I think it's just the outcome of a fight weather one or both fighters don't seem to encage and take their Time and , not Strike or Grapple ETC ETC, ,
Oh come on now WorldTravelerMan, are you serious going to not even acknowledge the mere possibility that just maybe, a certain fighter, or style of fighting, can be boring? Come on, if you just spam the same move over and over and with no intent on finishing, that's boring. This whole "boring" argument has done a 180, to where now if someone even PIPES UP about it, they're instantly shot down by the masses, saying "oh you don't know what the hell you're talking about, you're not a true MMA fan."
Why is it that when a Fighter is in you're guard (on his knees) working on a ground and pound you are not allowed to up kick him in any way???????? Its only fair where if a fighter takes you down he too should be punished or block you're up kicks when he is on his knees!
What is harder to learn Wrestling or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? Much Respect to Matt Hughes staying away from his wrestling his last 2 fights and finishing his opponents standing up even though he could have easily taken them down and worked a ground and pound!
also, its cause the judges in the US go crazy for takedowns even when they dont do anything. thats why you get a lot of guys that just lay n pray or wall n stall to win fights.
gotta disagree with you on a lot of things here, i dont think its the opponents that are boring its the fighters for sure, its like saying every fighter jake shields has ever faced were the ones that were boring. im pretty sure its jake shields that decides to take people down and just gives love taps all day.
wrestling is exciting if used right. just watch rampage, gerald harris, jake ellenberger. cool takedowns and GnP is fun to watch. what i don't like is some guy pressing up another guy against the cage for 3 minutes and eventually getting a little dump trip and not throwing any punches or going for submissions from up top such as jon fitch and nick lentz.
no fighter as far as i know has ever been banned or prohibited from training tdd or wrestling in general. if wrestling is dominating the sport you don't eliminate it, you enhance it.
it would be like taking away the bunt in baseball because there aren't enough home runs.
i hope you run with this one dude. this has to be stopped before it's turned into K-2
Also, you ask if there is such thing as a boring fighter.
Well obviously, you think so (despite many statements against this in this video) because you call the wrestler's opponent, whom cannot get up off his back, boring.
@HoneyIEducatedTheWeb Think about it though the wrestler is usually in his opponents gaurd so why does the opponent not take advantage of the staggering number of submissions available and use sum of them. Hell from gaurd there is a way to choke out sum1 with your ankle (Gogoplata) so why do they just let themselves get controlled? I am in wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu so I can relate to them, but whenever sum1 is in my gaurd I go for the Guillotine, Triangle, or armbar. So if I am more active off my
@jagdjohn96 back than the BJJ black belts out there... WTF? Kenny Florian just RNCs ppl plz I could do that move in my sleep its so simple. So whats with all the shitty Jiu-Jitsu recently in the smaller weight classes?
The wrestler ties the BJJ fighter up because the wrestler is stronger. If you get tied up there is NOTHING you can do. You have to wait for the opening or for the opponent to move so you can create the opening.
Dan Hardy did not say wrestlers are boring. He said some of them are. What is wrong with that?
Lying on top of someone for fifteen minutes is not winning a fight. It's just lying on him so he cannot do anything. But you have not PRO-ACTIVELY won the fight.
Thumbs up to wrestlers, thumbs down to lay and pray artists.
I could criticise Mayweather's boring style but that doesn't mean I have boxers.
@HoneyIEducatedTheWeb Agreed Love wrestlers but hate inneffective GNP fighters( Yes I mean you Jon Fitch). These guys need to learn from Cheal Sonnen and Matt Hughes on how to either finish ppl or make it a very exciting fight if they dont finish.
@ThaRealestRican Frankie Edgar isnt boring! he slammed BJ twice, sweeped him with a leg kick, picked him apart, dropped him with a knee, hell he even "Shogun punched" Penn at a point in the fight. You think he's boring? Then watch Frankie Edgar vs Tyson Griffin.
"Is there really such a thing as boring fighter?" This question really highlights the essence of the debate. There are no boring fighters in MMA. IMO every MMA fighter deserves a lot of respect, to go out into the ring/cage and to fight. But boring fights happen not because of boring fighters, but because of specific situtation/combination of opponents and collision of their skills where no one of them is capable to dominate his opponent radical.
WTM.....I'm a boxing fan first but also enjoy MMA. I have to admit that I'm a bit bored by the wrestling aspect of MMA. I have a great deal of respect for it and agree with your past statements about the best MMA fighters having a strong wrestling game. I just don't prefer the wrestling style over the strikers.
@BazookaIke Another thing that the opponent makes it boring by not using their gaurd and just hugging the wrestler so he cant strike. These guys get taken down than just lay there and let ther wrestler controll them in their most advantage postitiion off of their backs? A lot of these guys dont even use Jiu-Jitsu reversals, and they're black belts? They dont do anything from their gaurds and dont know reversals and they're black belts? wow sad excuse for a Jiu-Jitsu fighter.
@jagdjohn96 Yeah you get that in boxing too where one guy is outclassed so he either runs a lot, won't engage or clinchs excessively. That's when you know he's there for the paycheck only and isn't really trying to win.
@BazookaIke I wish all fights were exciting but life isnt fair. I heard that one of Mayweather's fights was boring too, like he was just circling the guy for 36 minutes.
@jagdjohn96 Only one of Floyd's fights? Most of them are boring.....because he dominates them so thoroughly qne he doesn't take unnecessary risks. I don't understand why people get so crazy over his fights lately. He's become a big PPV star but he's never been fun to watch. You could put a dozen differnt Latino fighters in a main event instead and would get a more entertaining product. They don't have the marketable name though. Most PPVs are big events, rather than great fights.
@jagdjohn96 Huh? I didn't think you were dissing Floyd. And believe me.....I'm no fan of Mayweather. I respect his skills a lot but I don't like him because he doesn't pursue the toughest challenges out there, and also because he likes to beat up women.
@jagdjohn96 I think they stil do globally, but in the USA boxing has become a name driven sport. Floyd wasn't big until he started appearing on Dancing with the Stars and at Wrestlemania.
MMA seems to be more driven by action and doesn't need all big names to get people under the tent. Boxing has been getting away with putting together PPV cards based on the main event only, so people aren't showing up for the preliminaries. Boxing does much better internationally than it does in the USA
@BazookaIke Yes but MMA is no slouch globally either. I hate the number of boxers who say MMA is for "homosexuals" though. Please if that is gay than that is the most abussive relationship I have ever seen.
@jagdjohn96 I know MMA is global. Most people do. Unfortunately, the average MMA fan in America is unaware of how big boxing is around the globe. Its thriving in Latin countries, Eastern Europe, SE Asia.
People who say MMA is gay are just not fans of wrestling. So be it. Its not for everyone.
@BazookaIke I thought there was sum kind of single collar tie clinch aloud in boxing too? But I get ya I dont watch boxing cept for classic fights, but I've seen guys that just hug too. Idk what it is but almost all standup MMA fights are exciting? Maybe because they get so punchdrunk that it turns into a brawl instead of technical striking eachother. I disagree with sum of the boxers out there who say MMA striking is shit, because there is technique into kicking, elbowing, kneeing too.
@jagdjohn96 The part about striking in MMA that some pro boxers fail to recognize is that they have to maintain a stance that allows them to be ready for a possible takedown. In boxing, you don't have to worry about that so its easier to stay in a more defensive stance. Because of this aspect in MMA, some MMA fighters really look sloppy by a boxer's standards. Granted......some MMA fighters are just terrible at striking. Not all though. I thought Rampage really improved his boxing skills.
Jon Fitch is the only wrestler Ive seen be boring. Clay Guida, Tyson Griffin, Joe Daddy are all wrestlers and they all have 3-4 Fight of the nights! Then you have Matt Hughes, Josh Koscheck, GSP(can be boring at times). Then you have the most entertaining wrestler in the world... Cheal Sonnen! Then you got Dan Henderson, Randy Couture, Rashad Evans, Jon Jones, Rampage, along with Cain Velasquez, Shane Carwin who are also very exciting wrestlers.
Personally the only two boring fights at UFC 118 were the Kenflo, Maynard fight and the Maia fight.
Dont blame Maynard, kenny didnt do shit the entire fight, all he did was trap Maynard's arm so he couldn't do anything on the ground. Maia didnt do much other than outgrapple him.
Anyways why does everyone think that Frankie Edgar was boring? He landed over and over on the feet, Slammed BJ twice, and on the Ground he even landed a "Shogun" punch. Not to mention he dropped Penn with a knee!
I do think there are some fighters who are more exciting to watch than others, though that is subjective and comes down to what you personally like in MMA but I'm yet to see a boring fight and dislike these accusations too.
I think occasionally when 2 fighters are matched together their skill sets clash leading to a stalemate situation which I guess some people perceive as boring, but I personally don't. I enjoy all fights and view it as part of what makes MMA what it is.
Jon Fitch and Gary Maynard are bad at it...I mean with all that power in wrestling you think they would learn some submissions...If Those two learned submissions they would be putting on exciting fights but they never go for finish....Holding isn't fighting though...Sometimes someone is just going to over power you but if they are just holding you for the win...then its not a fight...Clay Guida and Chris Lytle always go out their to finish or be finished! They are exciting to watch!
A fighter fights. IN real fights there are know reference whos gonna score points on you for takedown and end the fight in 15 min.
In a real fight you have to finish your opponent quickly and standup or his homeys will come and get you.
So to be a man, you dont score a takedown unless you cant do anything from that position,Because imo if you do, then your not a fighter but a point monkey aka athlete.
@realmusikforya I think you're judging houston alexander on his one fight vs kimbo, watch his other fights. His most recent fight is on youtube, That fight was sick, was this saturday, I suggest you watch it.
@realmusikforya Because I use to think the same thing about him lol. Then I looked up his records and watched his other fights and noticed he's actually pretty good. I think if he was aggressive vs kimbo he would have won, I mean, the guy in his last fight is rougly the same size xD Type this in on youtube and you'll see the fight, it's 11 minutes. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou vs Houston Alexander - Shark Fights
@realmusikforya Hehe watch his last outing for a total reverse of cowardice, kimbo got some well dodgy fights the seth guy got paid to stand with him and accidently let it slip in an interview and thompson... lulzy stoppage for a popped coliflour ear, /watch?v=nMOjYZ6TdD8 thats the fight dude, i thought it was pretty awesome you dont get a good angle of the first round over hand but soko drops a bomb you see it at the between round reply

Let me say this that the UK fighters are complaining for no reason if they want to compete then learn to wrestle GSP didn't really have a wresling background (at least not to my knowledge) coming into MMA but he worked hard and he is now one of the best wrestlers in the sport so when I hear these guys complaining about wrestling I don't pay any attention to it if you don't know how to wrestle in this sport you deserve to lose.
mmawilldesha 1 year ago
@mmawilldesha this pretty much sums it up.
the people who are complaining never watched boxing or tough-man contests or K-1. they found MMA because of its' huge push into the mainstream and now they want to turn it into an al out brawl....with no finesse or skill necessary.
i wish they'd just leave mma alone.

No there is no such thing as a boring fighter.
mmawilldesha 1 year ago

Also, sometimes it looks like that if the bottom guy has good defense and the top can't pound well.
macnutz 1 year ago
I am so glad you brought this up. I am so tired of people bringing up this blanket bullshit and everything. Wrestling is hard as hell and people do not seem to understand that. Much respect to people like GSP and Edgar.
MrGageHarrison 1 year ago
oh NO I think it's just the outcome of a fight weather one or both fighters don't seem to encage and take their Time and , not Strike or Grapple ETC ETC, ,
slasher445 1 year ago
Oh come on now WorldTravelerMan, are you serious going to not even acknowledge the mere possibility that just maybe, a certain fighter, or style of fighting, can be boring? Come on, if you just spam the same move over and over and with no intent on finishing, that's boring. This whole "boring" argument has done a 180, to where now if someone even PIPES UP about it, they're instantly shot down by the masses, saying "oh you don't know what the hell you're talking about, you're not a true MMA fan."

Guys let's talk about this fight.
FrankGarrett316 1 year ago
Why is it that when a Fighter is in you're guard (on his knees) working on a ground and pound you are not allowed to up kick him in any way???????? Its only fair where if a fighter takes you down he too should be punished or block you're up kicks when he is on his knees!
Wangtime1 1 year ago
What is harder to learn Wrestling or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? Much Respect to Matt Hughes staying away from his wrestling his last 2 fights and finishing his opponents standing up even though he could have easily taken them down and worked a ground and pound!
Wangtime1 1 year ago
also, its cause the judges in the US go crazy for takedowns even when they dont do anything. thats why you get a lot of guys that just lay n pray or wall n stall to win fights.
omgstoptakingnames 1 year ago
gotta disagree with you on a lot of things here, i dont think its the opponents that are boring its the fighters for sure, its like saying every fighter jake shields has ever faced were the ones that were boring. im pretty sure its jake shields that decides to take people down and just gives love taps all day.
omgstoptakingnames 1 year ago
wrestling is exciting if used right. just watch rampage, gerald harris, jake ellenberger. cool takedowns and GnP is fun to watch. what i don't like is some guy pressing up another guy against the cage for 3 minutes and eventually getting a little dump trip and not throwing any punches or going for submissions from up top such as jon fitch and nick lentz.
outdoorsman715 1 year ago
I think that wrestling is killing MMA. I would rather watch paint dry than watch another Josh Kosheck or Gray Maynard fight.

i agree with you 100%
no fighter as far as i know has ever been banned or prohibited from training tdd or wrestling in general. if wrestling is dominating the sport you don't eliminate it, you enhance it.
it would be like taking away the bunt in baseball because there aren't enough home runs.
i hope you run with this one dude. this has to be stopped before it's turned into K-2

Also, you ask if there is such thing as a boring fighter.
Well obviously, you think so (despite many statements against this in this video) because you call the wrestler's opponent, whom cannot get up off his back, boring.
HoneyIEducatedTheWeb 1 year ago
@HoneyIEducatedTheWeb Think about it though the wrestler is usually in his opponents gaurd so why does the opponent not take advantage of the staggering number of submissions available and use sum of them. Hell from gaurd there is a way to choke out sum1 with your ankle (Gogoplata) so why do they just let themselves get controlled? I am in wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu so I can relate to them, but whenever sum1 is in my gaurd I go for the Guillotine, Triangle, or armbar. So if I am more active off my
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
@jagdjohn96 back than the BJJ black belts out there... WTF? Kenny Florian just RNCs ppl plz I could do that move in my sleep its so simple. So whats with all the shitty Jiu-Jitsu recently in the smaller weight classes?
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
@jagdjohn96
The wrestler ties the BJJ fighter up because the wrestler is stronger. If you get tied up there is NOTHING you can do. You have to wait for the opening or for the opponent to move so you can create the opening.
HoneyIEducatedTheWeb 1 year ago
For fuck's sake.
Awful analysis, WTM, awful.
HoneyIEducatedTheWeb 1 year ago 2
@HoneyIEducatedTheWeb Agreed Love wrestlers but hate inneffective GNP fighters( Yes I mean you Jon Fitch). These guys need to learn from Cheal Sonnen and Matt Hughes on how to either finish ppl or make it a very exciting fight if they dont finish.

Frankie Edgar
ThaRealestRican 1 year ago
@ThaRealestRican Frankie Edgar isnt boring! he slammed BJ twice, sweeped him with a leg kick, picked him apart, dropped him with a knee, hell he even "Shogun punched" Penn at a point in the fight. You think he's boring? Then watch Frankie Edgar vs Tyson Griffin.
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
"Is there really such a thing as boring fighter?" This question really highlights the essence of the debate. There are no boring fighters in MMA. IMO every MMA fighter deserves a lot of respect, to go out into the ring/cage and to fight. But boring fights happen not because of boring fighters, but because of specific situtation/combination of opponents and collision of their skills where no one of them is capable to dominate his opponent radical.
puteshestvuushij 1 year ago
WTM.....I'm a boxing fan first but also enjoy MMA. I have to admit that I'm a bit bored by the wrestling aspect of MMA. I have a great deal of respect for it and agree with your past statements about the best MMA fighters having a strong wrestling game. I just don't prefer the wrestling style over the strikers.
Good video.
BazookaIke 1 year ago
@BazookaIke Another thing that the opponent makes it boring by not using their gaurd and just hugging the wrestler so he cant strike. These guys get taken down than just lay there and let ther wrestler controll them in their most advantage postitiion off of their backs? A lot of these guys dont even use Jiu-Jitsu reversals, and they're black belts? They dont do anything from their gaurds and dont know reversals and they're black belts? wow sad excuse for a Jiu-Jitsu fighter.
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
@jagdjohn96 Yeah you get that in boxing too where one guy is outclassed so he either runs a lot, won't engage or clinchs excessively. That's when you know he's there for the paycheck only and isn't really trying to win.
BazookaIke 1 year ago
@BazookaIke I wish all fights were exciting but life isnt fair. I heard that one of Mayweather's fights was boring too, like he was just circling the guy for 36 minutes.
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
@jagdjohn96 Only one of Floyd's fights? Most of them are boring.....because he dominates them so thoroughly qne he doesn't take unnecessary risks. I don't understand why people get so crazy over his fights lately. He's become a big PPV star but he's never been fun to watch. You could put a dozen differnt Latino fighters in a main event instead and would get a more entertaining product. They don't have the marketable name though. Most PPVs are big events, rather than great fights.
BazookaIke 1 year ago
@BazookaIke I said I heard about it, I wasn't dissing your boy.
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
@jagdjohn96 Huh? I didn't think you were dissing Floyd. And believe me.....I'm no fan of Mayweather. I respect his skills a lot but I don't like him because he doesn't pursue the toughest challenges out there, and also because he likes to beat up women.
BazookaIke 1 year ago
@BazookaIke Why doesn't boxing have many marketable names anymore? Did most of them join MMA or sumthing?
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
@jagdjohn96 I think they stil do globally, but in the USA boxing has become a name driven sport. Floyd wasn't big until he started appearing on Dancing with the Stars and at Wrestlemania.
MMA seems to be more driven by action and doesn't need all big names to get people under the tent. Boxing has been getting away with putting together PPV cards based on the main event only, so people aren't showing up for the preliminaries. Boxing does much better internationally than it does in the USA
BazookaIke 1 year ago
@BazookaIke Yes but MMA is no slouch globally either. I hate the number of boxers who say MMA is for "homosexuals" though. Please if that is gay than that is the most abussive relationship I have ever seen.
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
@jagdjohn96 I know MMA is global. Most people do. Unfortunately, the average MMA fan in America is unaware of how big boxing is around the globe. Its thriving in Latin countries, Eastern Europe, SE Asia.
People who say MMA is gay are just not fans of wrestling. So be it. Its not for everyone.
BazookaIke 1 year ago
@BazookaIke Ik that but you cant say its gay cause they beat eachother u k
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
@jagdjohn96 They beat each other? Actually that does sound gay. LOL
BazookaIke 1 year ago
@BazookaIke You k what I mean they beat eachother down if you want me to be more specific.
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
@jagdjohn96 Haha....yeah I know bro. Just havin' a lil' fun with ya.
BazookaIke 1 year ago
@BazookaIke I thought there was sum kind of single collar tie clinch aloud in boxing too? But I get ya I dont watch boxing cept for classic fights, but I've seen guys that just hug too. Idk what it is but almost all standup MMA fights are exciting? Maybe because they get so punchdrunk that it turns into a brawl instead of technical striking eachother. I disagree with sum of the boxers out there who say MMA striking is shit, because there is technique into kicking, elbowing, kneeing too.
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
@jagdjohn96 The part about striking in MMA that some pro boxers fail to recognize is that they have to maintain a stance that allows them to be ready for a possible takedown. In boxing, you don't have to worry about that so its easier to stay in a more defensive stance. Because of this aspect in MMA, some MMA fighters really look sloppy by a boxer's standards. Granted......some MMA fighters are just terrible at striking. Not all though. I thought Rampage really improved his boxing skills.
BazookaIke 1 year ago
Jon Fitch is the only wrestler Ive seen be boring. Clay Guida, Tyson Griffin, Joe Daddy are all wrestlers and they all have 3-4 Fight of the nights! Then you have Matt Hughes, Josh Koscheck, GSP(can be boring at times). Then you have the most entertaining wrestler in the world... Cheal Sonnen! Then you got Dan Henderson, Randy Couture, Rashad Evans, Jon Jones, Rampage, along with Cain Velasquez, Shane Carwin who are also very exciting wrestlers.
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
Personally the only two boring fights at UFC 118 were the Kenflo, Maynard fight and the Maia fight.
Dont blame Maynard, kenny didnt do shit the entire fight, all he did was trap Maynard's arm so he couldn't do anything on the ground. Maia didnt do much other than outgrapple him.
Anyways why does everyone think that Frankie Edgar was boring? He landed over and over on the feet, Slammed BJ twice, and on the Ground he even landed a "Shogun" punch. Not to mention he dropped Penn with a knee!
jagdjohn96 1 year ago
I do think there are some fighters who are more exciting to watch than others, though that is subjective and comes down to what you personally like in MMA but I'm yet to see a boring fight and dislike these accusations too.
I think occasionally when 2 fighters are matched together their skill sets clash leading to a stalemate situation which I guess some people perceive as boring, but I personally don't. I enjoy all fights and view it as part of what makes MMA what it is.

i wouldnt say they are in the "wrong sport"
its jus they dnt have wrestling in their blood..they dont grow up up with that around them
they learn to strike thats it
so they see it was being abit of a coward
im british and wrestling needs to come to the uk..even if only in MMA camps (which it kind of is already but not to the same standard as the US)
think of boxers saying mma fighters cant strike..its that kinda thing..english fighters dont use or know much wrestling so dont see it as important

some fighters are boring to watch regardless wether there style secures a win.
TerryMMA85 1 year ago
Jon Fitch and Gary Maynard are bad at it...I mean with all that power in wrestling you think they would learn some submissions...If Those two learned submissions they would be putting on exciting fights but they never go for finish....Holding isn't fighting though...Sometimes someone is just going to over power you but if they are just holding you for the win...then its not a fight...Clay Guida and Chris Lytle always go out their to finish or be finished! They are exciting to watch!
WhoopieX 1 year ago
and another thing.
