Sad Windows came up with Windows 7. My old PC became unstable due to age so I'm forced to use WIN 7 which is a 64 bit system. I happen to like Windows XP better. I like to play SILENT HILL from time to time because the game is creepy. But even with patches it's unstable with WIN 7. It's really for Win XP. So I had to buy a MAC just so I could operate PARALLELS so it can run Windows XP so I can play SILENT HILL. Sad, isn't it to get a MAC so I can use Windows XP again.

Quad core 4 Gig memory, decent graphics card a few Terabytes of HD space. It does all that I need it to do. Render vids faster then my old machine, play the odd game, nothing too fancy.

World of warcraft is a very user friendly game. My shitty laptop cost me 600 dollars and back when i played the game it ran everything perfectly. Any better computer isn't needed for World of warcraft.

My computer was about £700 ... wi current exchange rates 1000 Ozzy Dollars. That was 2-3 years ago I bought that tower and a cheap keyboard, still using my 8+ year old Dell monitor and speakers.
To be honest I spent more money than I should have but that was down to future proofing really cause I don't upgrade rigs for many years and I play games that require a tad bit more power than WoW does.

Now I take it cheap and easy: $700 HP desktop and an old '03 laptop in the living room to plug video into the big screen TV. Fancy bits are the four external 2 TB HDs and the 24" widescreen monitor to store and watch video and anime. That and an insignificant amount of video editing.

I use a 5 year old AMD with 2 gigs of RAM, and I had to break down and buy an Acer Windows 7 machine last year. I run both computers through a KVM switch through a 3 year old monitor. I still use a really old HP Laserjet 5 printer, but it just keep on cranking out my invoices. (Most of my clients now get invoices emailed to them in the PDF format). Like I say. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I spent $500 on a computer, then another $200 for PSU and GPU upgrades.....and it runs WoW fine. 60fps in most places, down to 40 in cities when they are crowded. Anyway spending 4k to play Wow is stupid, doesn't take that great of a computer to play WoW..it's NOT that graphically extensive.

I would have such a hard on if I had a 1 terabyte hard drive. Right now I have a 500 gig with 6 gigs of RAM with an AMD Athalon X2 2700 Mhz 2 core processor. I love my computer but damn I would love a terabyte. All I do with my computer is get on youtube and facebook and do shit on the internet. It's not to make money is just to amuse me I guess. Never got into gaming though.

Cost me $75 about 7 years ago. Does every thing.
Also I have a HP laptop for on the go, it was refurbished, cost me $250 -which was actually FREE considering I paid using money from recycling scrap metals.

My computer was about £700 ... wi current exchange rates 1000 Ozzy Dollars. That was 2-3 years ago I bought that tower and a cheap keyboard, still using my 8+ year old Dell monitor and speakers.
To be honest I spent more money than I should have but that was down to future proofing really cause I don't upgrade rigs for many years and I play games that require a tad bit more power than WoW does.
For a business machine though I would do exactly the same as you, cheap and does the fucking job!

You have more in your back up than i have in mine. the one i use i was left by one of my customers that never came back for it, never paid for it. it a 2.8 ghz p4 with 2gb of ram that i litterally don't have a penny in. my main machine is my main desktop a Dell Optiplex core2quad w/6gb of memory, 750gb sata and 2tb external backup. i have 2 laptops both dell's precision M90 w500gb hd 3gb ram and a latitude D620 C2duo 2gb ram160gb hd ( my traveling laptop) I agree about the 40+yr old too wanker!

I spent my time on the bleeding edge a little while last century: I had a Kryotech system in '99 with freon cooling for the processor at -40 C. It overclocked from 750 MHz to 1 GHz. Not very stable though.
Now I take it cheap and easy: $700 HP desktop and an old '03 laptop in the living room to plug video into the big screen TV. Fancy bits are the four external 2 TB HDs and the 24" widescreen monitor to store and watch video and anime. That and an insignificant amount of video editing.

Well, I use my computer for school work and writing and of course for YouTube and Facebook. And I wouldn't call it super modern or very fancy. It' a HP vs17, it has a grey colour and it's somewhere about 4 years old, but hey! It works :)

WoW isn't graphically tasking enough to require a $4000 computer. You'd get just as good graphics performance from a $300 Emachine on WoW. Now, if he was playing Crysis online, designing video game graphics and programming, I'd say he has a good use for $4000 worth of hardware. I use a 5 year old AMD with 2 gigs of RAM, and I had to break down and buy an Acer Windows 7 machine last year. I run both computers through a KVM switch through a 3 year old monitor. I still use a really old HP Laserjet 5 printer, but it just keep on cranking out my invoices. (Most of my clients now get invoices emailed to them in the PDF format). Like I say. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

previous to that was an amd 3500+ with 1.5 gig of ram also totaly made from garbage picked parts from the rubbish collection lol.

I used to play wow for a bit.
The game run at the highest settings on a $100 graphics card.
$4000 is way over the top.
Not even some of my mates spend that much and they are overclockers like myself.
My setup is about $2000 and it gets me what i need done.
As long as your PC has a reasonable size hdd its perfect for customer backup.

I spent $500 on a computer, then another $200 for PSU and GPU upgrades.....and it runs WoW fine. 60fps in most places, down to 40 in cities when they are crowded. Anyway spending 4k to play Wow is stupid, doesn't take that great of a computer to play WoW..it's NOT that graphically extensive.
