  • i live here in scottsdale! im going to this show on monday! not a fan of the gated horse arabian stuff, but gosh, this show is the best place to go for shopping! love it!

  • these horses jump with rediculous ease

  • That was an excellent video! All of the horses were lovely and it showed a great variety for those of us who could not attend. Thanks so much for sharing!

  • That's not Bey Berry Love at 0:18 is it?

  • what is with the wacky action on the saddleseat horses. If I saw that in the ring, I'd be testing them for soring. :(

  • Nope. What do you ride in? Because pretty much anything in the domesticated horse world is "wacky". I don't see horses jumping in the wild. I don't see horses loping in the wild.

They aren't sore, it's how they're trained. Just like an extended trot, a lope, etc.

  • They wear little chain bracelets on their front legs all the time at home, they put odd contraptions on them sometimes while ridden to get them to step higher and weighted shoes on the front legs to encourage higher stepping. It's not "natural" for them to move that way. I worked on a top arab ranch. I know. :)

  • I'm not sure how it works, but wouldn't the chains and heavy shoes put strain on their tendoms and ligaments? Wouldn't it be somewhat painful? But I suppose they get 5 star treatment to make up it yeah? Just wondering ^^

  • @Dakareegurl no. the chains weigh less than a mens watch. they just help the horse pay attention to where their legs are and they tend to use them more. the 'heavy shoes' aren't much heavier than the chains. they're not only used to get more motion, but for other things as well. the horses already have the natural motion for it, but the shoes just help them build more muscles to do it. it doesn't hurt them. the horses that dont have that natural motion arent shown saddleseat.

  • @Dakareegurl ; also, if the horse didn't have most of that natural motion already, then they wouldn't use the breeds they do for saddleseat. they use those breeds because they NATURALLY move like that. otherwise, saddleseat people would be showing thoroughbreds and other breeds like that.

  • Not all arab places do that actually.....I know several at the least that would never do that.....
