  • Motorweek is usually spot on. I've been watching this show since i was a kid. FYI my 012 mustang with cai + tune + axlebacks is just as fast actually. 01 sec quicker. $65k vs $38k with the money left over i'm buying an eco box like a fiesta sonic dart...

  • I own a GS and love it. Always wanted a ZO6 but could not afford them. Glad that they came out with a wide body GS. The interior are just fine for the price your paying.

    If you want the leather interior, just let carvaggio hook you up. It'll just cost you another 30k. So for under 100k, your'll get the looks, performance and leather interior.

  • The problem is Corvettes are number one in it's market with just over 27% market share which also includes 911s. The main issue with those other cars is they are riduculously expensive to maintain & repair. I hear more crying from people that buy MB, BMWs and Audis second and third hand because they love the looks but not ready for the cost of repairs and maintenance. All of that highend tech comes at a serious price when it starts failing and they all will.

  • @uclajd corvettes is definitely a 100% sports car, but very few people want an all out sports car like the Corvette or a GTR  because they arent as pratical.....there for cars like BMW M3, Audi R8, Porsche 911 are the best of both worlds (performance and luxury ) and have very good materials and build quality, compared to the corvette plastic interior and experior ...it all depends what you are looking for in the driving experiance

  • @victorh08 If you take ANYTHING anybody say on Top Gear seriously, then you're either 12 or just completely ignorant about cars. Motorweek gives some of the best fairest reviews, has been for decades now. And if you want to see another legit review you'd watch Fifth Gear NOT Top Gear. Fifth Gear and Motorweek both give fair and unbiased reviews, unlike Top Gear of today who only appeals to 16 year old fanboys who plays video games all day.

  • between the GS and the 2011 GT500 i would have to go with the GT500. 4 seats, better 0-60 better 0-100 better 1/4 mile better looking in my opinion than the GS (although the Z06 looks better than the gt500). plus the shelby is much more rare, in this silly GS you look the same as pretty much every other base c6 which are a dime a dozen. i realize it is in the middle of a z06 and base c6 but in reality this is how the stock c6 should come, really ther base c6 is pathetic for 55k. Z06 all the way!

  • @svtcobra1992 Hell no, I'd take a GS over any Mustang, it's not as powerful in a straight line, but it looks low, wide and mean like the Z06 and has the handling to smoke any Mustang on any racing course. All though I would choose a Shelby over a standard Corvette but not anything over a GS Corvette

  • @ZR1Terror i agree with how the corvette looks low, wide, and mean BUT when you said it has the handling to smoke ANY mustang on any race course that wasnt accurate, enter "2012 boss 302" into the search bar and see what i mean. the boss right now actually runs the laguna seca lap faster than a bmw M3, audi R8, and corvette Z06. the new boss is no joke whatsoever and is better than the gt500 in almost every way. 12.3 1/4 mile 4.0s 0-60 and a little over 100ft braking from 60mph. it is nasty!

  • @svtcobra1992 Wow, I have to admit, I am impressed by that 2012 Boss 302, I did some research and it is a beast, fucking crazy for a muscle car. This car really has some serious suspension upgrades, I mean to beat a Z06 on Laguna Seca, WOW!! But I would still choose a GS over it, sorry man, I just like it more. But I am so glad that GM and Ford are making cars that are beating and competeing with expensive European cars.

  • @ZR1Terror haha it is fine man everyone is entitled to their taste in cars. i agree with you that i am glad GM and ford are producing some high end muscle/sports cars these days that make european cars look even more over priced (as if they needed help to do that lol) i am just curious as to what these eurpean fanboys are gonna throw in our face now that an american car is leading just about every fastest lap on most circuits. the viper ACR and corvette ZR1 are the top 2 on nurburgring!

  • Hell, i'll go buy a 42k base automatic 1LT Z52 corvette coupe (cheapest vette made) still beat the crap out of a 5.0 and burn 0-60 in 4.2 (same as GT500) 116mph in quarter and still spatter both those mustangs on the curvy track all while gettting 28mpg highway with my 100,000 mile warranty, and having popular mechanics top mechanically engineered car.

  • People comment'n on how the GrandSport is a waste of money clearly don't know anything about corvettes. And to compare it to any mustang made is just a damn laugh.  Look on the web or talk to any chevy dealer, you can get a 1LT base GrandSport for 48k, blow the doors off a 5.0, and beat a 53k GT500 in 90% of all categories. This car replace the base manual z51 option. A hell of a performance deal. Best in america, hands down. Those who compare it to a mustang are laughable, do some research.

  • @BEBNC1 I bought one just like the one in this video last april. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about which cars they like best. Anyone that knocks this car needs to drive it for a weekend. They would definatly change their mind by Monday. You mentioned it gets 28mpg highway, I am also averaging 17.6 mpg city ! I've owned vettes since the early 70's and this is by far the best.

    Having owned a 2007 C6, I'm gonna have to say yes. I never experienced it, and if i remember correctly GM did something with the half shafts in the rear to ensure that wheel hop is never an issue. On what year car did you experience wheel hop issues?

  • This is a true GT sports car. It has great performance, engineering and handling, very good gas mileage, and yet you can daily commute with a smile on your face with each drive. GM has done a great job with the reliability of the Corvette. A Corvette is not a car for everyone; with this much power and handling comes "responsibility". Those who have the wallet, and driving maturity to own cars like the Corvette will experience extreme driving pleasure. GS equals great bargain!

  • What fool typed that the new 2011 Mustang is as fast as the GS? I have read all of the specs on both and that is far from the truth. Motortrend has the GS running 0-60 on 4.0 seconds. Not to mention, base C6s with autos are running 12.30s @ 115-117 mph in videos right here. The GT is not that quick or fast and no where near the handling by a longshot. I love the new new Mustang, but an all around performer like the C6 it will never be.

  • @Marc99GT Thank you. Mustang fan boys have really gone crazy with numbers with the new 5.0. You can get a base GS 1LZ out the door for just over 47k and absolutely blow the doors off the 5.0, the base 42k z52 automatic beats the crap out of the 5.0. The the base 47k 1LZ GS beats the 55k GT500 in almost all categories, and simply walks it on the curvy track.

  • @Marc99GT I checked it out, awesome! People who bash corvettes are truely haters that really don't know anything about them at all. Theres a reason why since the advent of the C5 in1997 pop mechanics has claimed it to be the best mechanically engineered car on the road several years.

  • To bad the new GS left the original 1963 327 out from under the hood. I know the LS3 is better by far. It's just that the new 5.3 would've kept the GS somewhat in line with it's 60's herritage. As you can tell by now, I prefer herritage and tradition over all else. Oh well.....Corvette still rules!!!

  • Can someone tell me where the ride quality in the Grand Sport would rank vs. the Base Corvette, The Z06 and the ZR1? ( Also, does the grand sport have a selective ride control option? I heard its basically like the old Z51 pack but f teh z51 had ride control, which setting would the Grand Sport most closely emulate. THanks!

  • @CeeStyleDj The ride is supposed to be a little stiffer than the base vette. Magnetic selective ride control is not available on the grand sport. The brochere that I'm looking at says it's an option on the base model standard on the zr1and not available on zo6 or grand sport.

  • I ordered one just like the one in this video.(3lt,auto) I've owned 4 vettes since 1974 and they just keep getting better.I just don't need anything more than the GS. Come on 430hp is enough for me. The zo6 and zr1 to me would be like dating a stripper. It might be nice for a while but not something I could live with on a daily basis.

    Add the 6K and get a Z06.

    For F sake the new 2011 Mustang GT runs just as fast as the GS.

    For 15k less to boot.

    I feel sorry for the fools that buy the GS & then get there butt kicked by a 2011 Mustang GT.

    That would never happen in a Z06.

  • Now if they would get rid of the fiberglass/plastic mono leaf springs , add coil over springs , make a DSG style gear box... Thankfully they did not put the PLASTIC window hood for the ZR1 on it.

    It is not like you actually get a decent interior with the Z06, it is the same lousy interior.

    The Corvette interior is crap, that is universally acknowledged, even Corvette will tell you that.

    That is why they offer the half ass 4LT package to try to give you a semi decent interior.

  • @venom5809 the Z06 is a different beast than the GS. If you test both cars you'll understand what I mean. You can tell the GS is quite heavier than the Z06 when cornering. This video doesn't give the Z06 much credit. If you know who Ranger is, he got his bone stock Z06 into 10's. The Z06 can easily do 0-60 under 3.5 seconds with the right driver the same as the GS and base Vette can do 0-60 in 4 seconds flat with the right driver. You are right, the GS is a great deal, but the Z06 is different
