  • DUDE. TANNER IS CRAZY AWESOME.

  • Comment removed

  • so so so so so amazing!!!

  • I like how at 3:16 you can see Mitch squee and say "SO GOOD!"

  • As Shawn would say, riDIculous.

  • Get it McKay I see you groovin! That's my baby

  • While I dont think VP was the best group on this season, it OUTRAGED me that they were eliminated this round after their BEST performance. They should let America decide after very episode, not those blind judges.

  • "Thumbs aloft, gentlemen!"

  • it is ironic....(and I love it)...that the most SOULful performance this season came from dem Mormon Boys.....I'm a 40 something year old black man...and LOVED this performance!....great job and great cover of an 80's RB classic!

  • I can't believe the number 1 comment isn't about the vocal percussion break down at @2:45. That's crazy!

  • At 3:16 Mitch was definitely in love with this performance.

  • I started to rage when Delilah got kicked of then when these guys got kicked off it made me want to break my tv. Made me lose all hope for the show. Only saving grace was that Pentatonix won. If they lost to Urban Method or the Darthmouth Aires I would've gone on a killing spree.

  • McKay has sole:) :) :) :) ;)

  • This is the best a capella performance I have ever seen

  • Comment removed

  • Still can't believe they got kicked off the same week they sung this.

  • amazing!!! O_o

  • gotta love the upside down BYU sign at 3:29 :)

  • Avi in the background when the base starts. haha. Though, Avi really has nothing to worry about. This guys good but nothing on the meat of Pentatonix--or is he the potatoes?

  • I cannot believe that they were eliminated in the same week that they did this song...

  • Wow that shocked me amazing!

  • Possibly the best performance of the entire season. I still can't believe they got eliminated on the same episode they pulled this off. I know the judges didn't like Ain't Too Proud to Beg, but I feel like they got a lot less rope than Urban Method and Afro-Blue—one slip-up and they were gone.

  • One of the Top Performances of Season 3 - a season full of amazing groups and amazing performances. There were at least 4 or 5 groups that would've easily won the previous seasons going away.

  • nice like them same as delilah:)

  • Although I feel like it was inevitable for Pentatonix to win (and they deserved it!) I REALLY feel like the final 3 should have been Pentatonix, Vocal Point (they were SOOOO much better than Dartmouth) & Afro-Blue (Urban Method was NOT good at all!!) But, I still really enjoyed watching this season and can't wait for the next one!!

And Kudos to Sara B for being a MUCH better judge than Nicole, even if I didn't always agree with her! LOL

  • @yaimavol It is actually based on talent. Pentatonix consistently gave solid performances and thats why they won. Yeah, Vocal Point rocked in this but they were definitely not as consistent as Pentatonix. Its the talent that make people want to buy albums and tickets.

  • 2:24 lol look at Scott in the back.

I love Vocal Point!!! THIS WAS WICKED! Top 3 group for sure

  • Thumbs up if you love VOCAL POINT!!

  • Vocal point, delilah, and pentatonix were amazing and Afro blue and urban method suck and did not deserve to make it as far as they did

  • @brebri101 what about darthmouth aires

  • I don't think the judges noticed that their outfits are the same as in Bobby Brown's music video.

  • @DeathAngel465 I was at the taping, and they didn't show it on the epsiode, but Shawn pointed it out in his comments after the performance.

  • @mrgalooza. I TOTALLY agree. They should have been in the top 3. I can't stop watching this, eventhough my boo Scott from Pentatonix was going to win. This was just that good, and so is VP overall.

  • That shit was DOPE. The lead guy is adorable. I always look for him, especially after they performed Life is a Highway. Lord knows I LOVE me some Rascal Flats.

  • Their dancing in this was dope as fuck.

  • They didn't win and they didn't really deserve to but this may be my favorite performance of the season. A LOT of fun

  • @balfred1980 I'm the same. Overall, Pentatonix was too great and may favorite to win, but I can't stop watching this performance. I'd say it's my favorite, but Pentatonix did deserve to win. Although I think VP should've been in the finale after this.

  • I love this performance... just wondering ... what they are there majors and what years .. i believe...tanner is junior .... maybe in computers.... wonder who is going to be around next year. ... not that it matters .... they are all blessed i hope they continue to share it with us

  • When the lead singer has to sing and dance, he kind of looks like a retarded T-Rex, but in a good way 2:17

  • Comment removed

  • at 3:17 you can see Mitch of Pentatonix reacting to the stutter effect VP was doing. If I read his lips right, he says, "So good!"

It is so fun to see the way they truly enjoy everyone's performances.

Every year you wonder if Sing-Off will have groups as good as the year before, & every year they get better!

  • We will definitely see a CD from these guys

  • I loved this group. One of my favorites from this season. I love how when they show Ben towards the end he is smiling and geeking out with the performance. Its great!!

  • Tanner, my man...As Ben Folds would say "You are sick"

  • Honestly, Vocal Point could have won that competition if people didn't hate LDS Mormon people so much. It's too bad people are too stubborn to see they are amazing and that people are so judgmental when it comes to LDS Mormons.

  • @yogapanda100 that is not it at all. first of all, they didnt make it to fan vote so it was all the judges. while i did not agree with them going home, religion definitely had nothing to do with it. if they had any issue with their religion they for sure would not have made it to the top five as there were many talented groups who went home before then. the fact that they were mormons probably helped them more than hurt them...

  • @yogapanda100 woah woah the church had nothing to do with it. yeah it was all on the judges and producers. the best groups musically were probably vocal point, afro blue, and pentatonix but this show takes more on Selling an image and a product. and thats why the show ended up the way it did

  • 3 people just didnt hav the moves like vocal point duz

  • I honestly can't stop watchng this, i'm so upset they lost!

  • This show, like America's Got Talent, suffers from the demand for a commercial act to win. It's not necessarily talent in the end, but the perceived ability to sell tickets and/or albums. Still, the Top 5 were all amazing groups, and the talent this year was exceptional. This season will be VERY tough to top next year.

  • yo the rimshots are nasty on the beatbox....

  • HOW ON EARTH DID THEY GOT KICKED OFF!!!! I think Afro-Blue should have gotten kicked off!! Any one else?

  • @Jansing15

nope i really dont i think urban method should have went home

  • @prettylittleliar0851

    Yea me too

  • love these guys!!!!they should have not lost to afro blue!!!!

  • Nah I think they should have had the guy with glasses as the lead he had the better voice for this song, their dancing was great but no I didn't like the lead.......And how the hell does he sound like MJ? somebody is tone deaf

  • If you didn't think they had it in them to move like that, you haven't seen anything else they've done outside of the sing off. They've got a lot of awesome performances like this.

  • That was awesome Vocal Point!!!!

  • Ahahaha I love how awkwardly Mormon they are in the beginning. "We need to bring someone in to teach me how to groove naturally." Love you guys!

  • Just noticed Keith looks like Anakin Skywalker.

  • Look at Mitch at 3:17! You know they were good!

  • McKay is so cool

  • 2:45 was awesome

  • love tanners bit awesome

  • the lead on this song kinda had that Michael Jackson feel to it, that spunk, that toughness, not necessarily your classic R&B voice, and when i heard him singing in the beginning i was like "meeehhh, i dont know if his voice fits this songs", but as he continued i could really appreciate it... this performance brings me back to the old school R&B days, this was SO awesome...props for the choreography, that was something else..white boys can bust a move, didnt expect that AT ALL! :)

  • "Thumbs aloft gentlemen." Love Ben

  • Ok. This deserves a 2nd, 3rd, 9th view.

  • @unusuallynormal231 I'm on my 44th view...never get tired of it.

  • that was awesome!

  • if ive watched this video 100 times, then ive watched tanner's bit at least 1000 times

  • I love these guys so much! I'd have to agree with ty2 Best performance by far ^_^

  • I fully understand the disappointment felt on this board. I too wanted to see VP perform in the finale.

These guys were so good....you forget that they are white guys. :-)

  • This or their Elvis medley I cant decide which was their best performance

  • 3:02 "okay, my turn again"

  • 3:29 Upside-down BYU sign lol.

  • i dont get what urban method is doing still on the show. they should have gone home during superstars medley week instead of the yellowjackets. vocal point is sooooo much better than they are. the finals should have been vocal point, pentatonix, and afro blue.

  • @cubsfan4695 FInally somebody feels my pain on Urban Method

  • @cubsfan4695 holy crap i could not agree more. that's exactly who the final should've been between.

  • @cubsfan4695 and Michael not Dartmouth Airs JUST MICHAEL LOL

  • I understand they wanted to only keep one male college group for the finals so it was between them and Darthmouth AIres. But how could the judges even consider picking Afro Blue over Vocal Point? This was THE performance of the season.

  • This is my favorite performance from them!!!! Afro blue or Dartmouth Aries should have left.

  • I loved this. I was impressed! Tanner is the man. The beatbox part was SICK! Keith ? the lead was good also. Is it just me or did every group at this point all the way up to the final 4 take a page from PTX's book? Just saying.

  • I thought Vocal Point was a stronger college group than the Aires. Even though they had one bad week, pitch-wise, their overall quality is so much more consistent. Every single week, the judges pointed out how disappointed they were with Dartmouth's low end, and it never seemed to get any better. VP also has several great leads, as opposed to DA's "let's just throw Michael out front" mentality.

Also these guys are so cute and genuine.

  • @mcjecca well it's that "throw Michael out mentality" that also, that kept DA going, one of the problems that Ben wrote in his extended blog is that while VP was a very strong group. It lacked a clear front man. I think if they had put Keith and perhaps 1 of the other guys on a regular basis it would have worked for them.

side note: Tanner is a Boss

  • @Kaiune I know that's what the judges said, but I disagree with them. I loved Michael's voice, but I think he was DA's only strength. I liked that VP could use McKay, Keith, or Jake depending on the song style (I wasn't a fan of Ross or Ben as leads) - I think it showed greater versatility. If the judges didn't like that, I think they should have mentioned it in their critiques...I don't remember them doing so.

  • Really miss these guys. This is one of my favorite performances of there's, actually. It's been stuck in my head. Strangely addictive!

  • Roberts face <3 @1:44

  • amazing.

  • tanner ROCKED THAT SHIT.

  • I love watching pentatonix react to different things vocal point does in the background

  • You can tell Afro-Blue and Pentatonix shows sportsmanship. Those are main two groups you see gets excited when another team has an awesome performance.

  • @1992HappyFeet I agree. It makes me respect them as performers even more. Urban Method, on the other hand, always look sulky, especially the guys. They never really smile or clap along. I mean come on, Vocal Point was amazing here. Second best performance of the night for me, after "Let's Get It On", and Urban Method just looked thoroughly disinterested ):

  • I never knew VP had it in them. I was like, "Oh yes." Haha. That breakdown, the harmonization, the choreography were on point.

  • I honestly believe that Afro-Blu should have went home instead of them. Both of their performances were off. Vocal Point did their thing on both of their songs. sucks that they had to leave the show.

  • @LXR91 That does make some sense to me, BYU's coursework is pretty rigorous. I have a hard time with it too. You make a good point.

  • McKay made mention to this in one of the group's earlier and later video interviews about their school work taking president over their lives and still trying to do the show and keep a normal life. I thought that was interesting detail, because big name music companies don't want to deal with potential stars who haven't truly proven to be the cash cow they were hoping for and still have to work around their schooling. They are in the business of making money. I know it is a harsh reality.

  • I liked this performance a lot and thought that even though I liked the performance; there was something static about it. I've notice what Ben stated in one of his comments to them in their second performance about them just playing it safe and not willing to take risks. I wouldn't say this unless I went back and did research on them. I feel the judges dismissed (VP) was because they were still in school and were not willing to sacrifice this for a dream of recording music.

  • man this was amazing!!!! why the heck were they eliminated?

  • obviously tanner is a dancer

  • before i said the queen melody was the best performance this just beat it!!

  • The main reason this group didn't make it is because they never had that "front man" voice that a crowd might associate with the group. Shame because this is a top 3 group.

  • @willhalt01 I def see what ur saying but every soloist has been quality so far. and for me personally I always felt that McKay was their go to guy. His voice seemed the most dynamic, but the lead for this performance was great too. It really is a shame tho :/

  • @sewmedia I read a blog by Shawn, and this is what he stated. This is why I feel they didn't make it. Afro-blu just has never done it for me yet. Urban Method has occasionally. VP rocked quite a few weeks.

  • @willhalt01 o really? where's his blog? and ur first comment is what he said ? or what u just wrote?

I'm on the fence abt Afro-blu. They have talent and technique sure but their Mariah Carey was not as good for me as it was for the judges. I don't feel they did the song justice. And they are boring performers compared to the other groups left. Their arrangements don't do enough to make up it. Urban Method is by far the weakest group for me. Not the least interesting, but definitely unbalanced

  • @sewmedia I believe that they should have went home over Vocal Point because of the Mariah Carey performance.

  • @sewmedia Shawn did say that in his blog actually. Google his name and "the builders" and you should find the blog. Quote: "Vocal Point is an amazing group of guys from Provo, Utah that nailed predominantly EVERY performance!... My only issue — if you even want to call it that — is their 'front man' spot." He then goes on the explain.

  • @willhalt01 For me, Urban Method suffers from superstar syndrome. Their rapper, surprisingly is the best part of the group. Think about it this way: if his part was removed from every performance, how good would they REALLY be? Kind of like that group that sucked because they didn't have pedals. If Urban Method didn't have Mike, they wouldn't have made it this far. And to me, they are right over AB for least interesting performers

  • In my heart, the top three will always be Pentatonix, Vocal Point, and North Shore.

  • This was one of those homerun performances. Up there with Delilah's Grenade, Pentatonix's Love Lockdown, ...

  • We need to bring someone in to teach me how to grove naturally. Hilarious!!!! They were robbed!!!!!!!!!:(

  • If you look in the back ground at 3:16 you can see pentatonix saying "thats our thing!"

  • Ben at 2:10 (pre-Tanner): leaning back and not smiling.

Ben at 3:07 (post-Tanner): smiling and grooving.

    Tanner is awesome.

  • Is it me or does this sound kind of like the fresh prince theme song?!?

  • How Urban Method and Afro Blue are still in this competition is beyond me

  • @luiki4189 Thank you. My thoughts EXACTLY!

  • they was robbed....

  • iTunes offers only the sound. Miss half the performance without the video.

  • "Thumbs aloft, gentlemen." hahahaha I freaking love Ben Folds.

  • How could the judges kick them off after this?!?! Whyyyyyyy?!?!

  • This song should've landed them in at least the top three! Vocal Point, we still love you guys! :D

  • Well, they were weak on their R&B classic and, since the standards are so high now, they had to really deliver on both performances. But I'm so bumbed they got kicked off because this was my favorite performace of the whole competition so far, and I hate to admit it because they are all mormons.

  • never been a vocal point fan but no way they shouldve went home...

  • I think it was the second song that got them. Ben is a great singer but he doesn't have the voice of a lead like Keith. I will support even after sing off boys!!!!

  • i'm not a huge VP fan, but this was off the charts! they should not have been eliminated after throwing down this performance; even with slightly soft temptations number.

  • "GURRRLLL...."

  • Now I understand why pentatonix members are dancing . coz' Vocal Point's got a bunch of tricks too!!!

  • 2:25 SCOTT - PENTATONIX DANCING :) YEAH

  • wow, that was sick!

  • It saddens me that Urban Method has made it far enough over groups that truly belong in the finale, such as Vocal Point. Every season there are always those few performances that you will always remember. For me, this is at the top of those memories.

  • Best performance of the season. It was unfortunate that the second solo did not work out as well. They were definitely not voted off from this performance. I mean, this was something revolutionary. This took the season to a new level. I thought it was hilarious because there were so many ingenious little things going on and they are these white mormon boys.

  • I just keep replaying the bass over and over. and over. 2:34

  • Something that bothers me is that Vocal Point seems to be the ONLY group that actually well... puts on a performance. They entertain your eyes along with your ears. The other groups just stand there or walk around a bit. Vocal Point ALWAYS had something going on and that's what made them so great!

  • After watching this performance, we all know in our hearts that Vocal Point should NOT have been sent home !!! But I'm sure the guys would want us to get past our grieving (and sobbing) and wish them well in their "real" lives. And if you're in Utah, watch for VP concerts...unfortunately the ones this weekend are sold out (sigh)...but Covey Center for the Arts has promised to bring them back next March!! Can't wait!

  • this just makes me smile!!!

  • I keep watching Tanner's part over and over and over.... Dang. If I ever grow up I wanna beatbox like that.

  • omg i don't get it i mean the other performance was bad but this was way up there afro blue should have gone this guys are uo there with pentatonix nobody else is that good really !!

  • I don't mind to post here that I'm an Afro-blue but these guys always bring it, Tanner's part won the whole show that night and for what it's worth, Afro-blue should have been sent home and you could see it to the way they reacted to the announcement.

  • well, Pentantonix definitely sounds better vocal-wise than the rest BUT if I had to pick on who I wanted to see at a LIVE concert...hands down I would no doubt go see Vocal Point anyday! They are great performers and give a really awesome show. :)

  • This was my FAVORITE performance!!!!! ♥♥♥

  • This is freaking amazing... their best song so far.

  • Sooo good! I'm so sad they got sent home!

I think Robert's deep voice was soo sexy! ;o)

  • With how in awe Vocal Point had the judges with this performance, they shouldn't have been sent home. Their other performance was only OK - they probably would have been just fine if the put Ross in as lead on that - but I think they've shown so much more diversity and attention to detail than Afro Blue or the Dartmouth Aires.

  • @kyleowen13 I believe Urban Method should have went home. this was unbelievable

  • Mckay has soul!!!!

  • Tanner's breakdown was sick!

  • @vbboynnj Tanner's Breakdown alone should of kept this group around

  • @dagathar I totally agree, I still cannot believe that he handled all of that..

  • @dagathar They sent home the best beat boxer in the competition. The kid's a drum machine!

  • @dagathar I CANT STOP WATCHING IT! hahahah :) really though.

  • I LOVE when Mitch freaks out at like 3:17 ! ahaha

  • That being said...it is sad to see them go...this act made me completely forget that they're white boys. :-)

Oh well...Pentatonix is alive and very much poised to win it all.

  • VP's second act did them in. They let their returning member sing solo. It was a mistake. I wasn't impressed by that performance....in comparison to THIS performance. Sad to see them go....but deep in the competition...you gotta ride with the strong hand....the 3 Caucasian singers have swagger and soul. Should've let either of them sing that second act. Otherwise it would've been Urban Method and Afro Blue deciding their fates with Afro Blue singing their swan song.

  • the wrong group went home last night -/3

  • I'm sad they're out. R&B is they're kryptonite, but they still knocked this one outta the park. So sad....

  • McKay has Sexy Soul... I Loved This!!!

  • @qtingreen Hell yeah he does! He's my fave.

  • Agreed they got screwed. Aphro Blue should have been toast or Dartmouth Aire. This made no sense. If it was voting publuc I could understand, but what the F? Tuning issues my butt. Sarah is smoking something.

  • those. are. MY! white. people. let it be known... I claim them... me!

  • Thumbs aloft, gentlemen.

    You will be missed.

  • Its a shame that one bad performance would send a group this good home. I wonder how it is justified when they almost always have at least one judge standing at the end of their performances. They will definitely be missed. I hope they keep singing though!!!

  • I concur. Vocal Point should NOT have been sent home. Even Afro Blu knows that! Hence, their look of SHOCK everytime the judges bring them back from elimination! And Darmouth is STILL on the show!? UNBELIEVABLE! I don't get it!

  • Urban Method's performances this season (with the exception of Poison) were mediocre at best compared to Vocal Point and Urban Method is in the top 4? This performance was their best. I claim robbery! ROBBERY DAMMIT!

  • Comment removed

  • I love it.

  • I can't believe they're gone after this amazing performance...
