Interesting to see a root rake that's completely filled in. Mine's got a flat cupped plate about a foot up from the teeth that holds dirt if I need it, but lets a lot of the dirt fall through. It works well, but not quite as good for smearing (boom down, stick out) the dirt out as this design would be. Wish the video were a bit clearer and showed how he dealt with humps rather than just rocks. The trick is leaving the ground flat with few holes or deep torn edges in the sod.
He is leveling blueberry land digging a hole to put the rock in would fuck the bushes, they can take a pounding but digging them up would kill the plant and defeat the purpose of removing the rocks. the idea is to keep the top sod undesturber as much as possible. this video is of on of the top levelers, only about 10 that are any good at it in the state of maine!!
Nice video, 5 stars, that excavator is very fast! I've never seen a slabbing bucket used in this way. Looks like it work well for it. I've found that when it comes to dealing with large stones, you are better off to dig a deep hole beside the stone, roll it into that and then fill everything in. This way you end up with no hole and the stone is gone.
Keerist, get an excavator !! Like a Deere!
