I live in the town that Mythologic is based in, the place that has one of the few remaining archaic "LAN arcades", but currently my only notable experience of Arma is somehow parachuting out of a Russian UAV helicopter after discovering it couldn't be flown internally, and that in real life it probably doesn't fly very well.

@EchoPrimm I think this is one of the game genres where the comunity care more about gameplay than graphics. Just buy Arma II (Arma (I) - I don't know how the first one was) and you'd still get the qualities of the game (series).
This series is great, because it's not too well known. A big problem with mainstream titles is that they become so big that you can't find your way in them. Titles like this, however, are obscure enough that only people who are really interested in them will play them and stick with them.
@DWSimmy The population of people who are interrested in advanced games (simulator-ish) will probably always be low, wether titels are well known or not. So a smaller community buying smaller games (sale-based) fit perfectly with me. I don't need the fast pace community on a slow paced game (aka simulator), which of cource never would happen because that is an imbalanced community dispersion.
@Ferusraven Ah but there's the rub; your game gets big and you develop a fanbase that is big enough to make demands that you are expected to follow (like Call of Duty). You lose creative control. On the other hand, if you stay to small and you don't make enough money. It's a catch-22.

@ChrisG140907 Yea sorry for that. Its kinda hard to recognize who is troll and who isnt... Track IR is awsome head tracking device allowing you free look independenty of keyboard and mouse.
Its very usefull when piloting helicopter or jet and driving vehicles. You can look in to your turns, checking how above ground you are, while landing etc. and all this very intuitive and natural way. It also can be used on foot. You can lean and look around. like you would in real life... I love it!

A console version lol. I sure hope not. Bis is one of the few who haven't developed consolittis. PC players would crap their pants if Bis announced Arma 3 also available on consoles. @miltonatchet the game is cpu limited because high use of vertex (which is cpu limited in dx9)
in dx10 and dx11 vertex is far less cpu limited (tessellation + multi threaded batch + some function which need one call for tree grass (duplicate thing))
another problem is the game is more problematic with dynamic lighting because big distance to handle
static lighting for terrain would be less problematic (unless memory and pci express 2.0 gap)
from this gameplay, ArmA 3 looks very much like ArmA 2 because of the very similar mechanics, will the final version run differently and with more updated animations/mechanics?

@pfccodeman well like any pc game you can program the controlls into a controller but with arma. it would be pointless. just about every button on the keyboard is used. and theres even some commands that require you to press two keys at the same time. so it would take a lot of button combos on the controller.

@simranjeet36 I mean the minimium settings of the graphics. The minimium settings you need to run Arma 3 still stand. Bohemia Interactive is horrible at optimizing their games, look at Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and Arma 2. At the time when those games were released you needed a godlike comp. Now your going to need something with 10x the punch!

ARMA 3 looks really awesome. I just LOVE realistic shooters like ARMA 2, it is totally awesome and feels good to simulate yourself in dangerous in-depth combat. Can't wait for the final product :D
I just hope the AI will be fixed in this game ive lost count how many times ive been left to lie on the floor bleeding out when there are medics standing right next to me.

@pfccodeman i really really really really really really really really REALLY doubt it.... if arma goes to consoles it becomes infested with cod players and people/kids who :rap into the mic thinking theyre black, talk like they are from the ghetto, talk shit when they suck, make annoying sounds, complain about it being ok for them to be hypocrit but not other players.... etc.... i used to lve consoles.. then i got PC and realised thats where the mature gamers go. and arma is a mature game

@pfccodeman well like any pc game you can program the controlls into a controller but with arma. it would be pointless. just about every button on the keyboard is used. and theres even some commands that require you to press two keys at the same time. so it would take a lot of button combos on the controller.

also metallic container when dropped would twist along its axis under the weight of the metal. And as for transportation, I do better than anything I will not say .. )))

is not new that games on alpha/beta use a graphic engine from the previus game, and if is the first game of a saga, it usually use a less powerful graphic engine of another game, it happened with GTA SA, half life 2, gta iv, etc., so......WHAT A GRAPHICS O_O :F

@simranjeet36 I mean the minimium settings of the graphics. The minimium settings you need to run Arma 3 still stand. Bohemia Interactive is horrible at optimizing their games, look at Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and Arma 2. At the time when those games were released you needed a godlike comp. Now your going to need something with 10x the punch!

ARMA 3 looks really awesome. I just LOVE realistic shooters like ARMA 2, it is totally awesome and feels good to simulate yourself in dangerous in-depth combat. Can't wait for the final product :D
