Before I remark on this, I should say I like Amstell. He's clever, quick-witted, and self-aware. He was brilliant on Popworld, brilliant on Buzzcocks, and I've really warmed to the first two episodes of Grandma's House.

But sorry, as a stand-up, he's absolutely mediocre.

My Favourite comedians are Bill Hicks, Emo Philips, Patrick Kielty and Richard Pryor. I'm hoping one day I can place Simon amongst those names; he certainly has the intellect and comic timing. His dramatic, viciousness works well with his 'soft and fluffy' facadé. But still, I'd like to see him go after the bigger issues, hopefully this is just a softer clip for youtube viewers. Hicks did "the whole food-air deal" but he also went after the FBI, Fundamentalist Christians and Drugs.
