this scene is a reference to the Beatles last ever performance on the roof of Apple Corp, where it was interrupted by the police. i Loved this movie just for the little references it gives to the band. For example, i dont think anyone noticed when prudence leaves the gang Max uses a hammer to bang the first 7 notes of Maxwell's Silver Hammer which is the first time we see the song maxs character is from.

You can also tell what song Max is from when he's at the dinner table with his family. His uncle or dad called him by his full name "Maxwell" for the first time when they were talking about how much of a screw up he was, and how he was never going to have a steady job, which is also in reference to Maxwell's Silver Hammer. =]
